2.2024 My BF surprised booked Delage to celebrate
2.2024 My BF surprised booked Delage to celebrate Valentine's. It's our tradition to eat omakase for Vday :) This year marks our 6yr. Omakase is our favorite and we've tried over 20 different places including SoCal and some in Japan :) We both agreed this place hit the mark in terms of creativity, presentation, quality, and affordability. FOOD: The menu came with technically 11 dishes and the style is closer to kaiseki rather than traditional omakase as they start you off with small dishes, nigiris, small dishes, and back to nigiris and end with a dessert. Some standout dishes that I thought were super unique and/or delicious: - glass/clear bread tasted exactly like bread but literally looks like clear glass. Such a cool and unique dish I've never seen anywhere else! - ALL their nigiris were high quality and we enjoyed the variety of fish they picked for the menu and the seasoning and topping on each piece was the perfect bite. It made me happy-dance multiple times (that's how you know it's mouthgasmic!) - when eating omakase, I want to eat at least: uni, toro, wagyu, & salmon. Delage had it all and more. - OMG, their ginger was also very unique here. Not your typical yellow slice of gingers, but rather small pink pickled pieces that came with the perfect amount to palette cleanse before each fish. the small details! - I love the dishware they served each dish :) It's such a big component of omakase and they truly picked out some great pieces! SERVICE: FEMALE SUSHI CHEF! I've eaten at so many omakases and this was my first time being served by a female chef! LOVE LOVE LOVE! There were two chefs total at the counter and although they didn't make conversation like some other places do, it was still a pleasant experience. The counter was also significantly lower than the chef's counter, so the nigiris weren't presented in the traditional way where they presented each piece to you individually. I personally prefer it presented piece by piece because you remember exactly what you are eating at the moment. The nigiris were presented 4 at a time at the chef's counter and the rest of the dishes were brought out by waitresses. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the cuisine. Another aspect that we appreciated was they serve your food at your pace rather than everyone else's at the counter. So even though we were the 4th party to get our dishes initially, we were the first to finish and leave the restaurant. AMBIANCE: Very intimate and small interior. The counter sits 8 people and 2 additional tables seat 6 people. Very retro and old-school Japanese decor :) There is no bathroom inside the shop, so you have to ask for the code to use the bathroom in the same plaza. Overall, would definitely recommend this place for quality omakase for an affordable price!

I brought my daughter to celebrate academic success, the service was incredible, the food was out of this world. Definitely recommend for a celebration or special occasion. I cannot wait to come back and experience again!
Be the first to ReplyWow! Just wow! A delightful experience.
Not only was each plate beautiful but it was so delicious! I wasn't too sure at first when I heard California inspired omakase but they sure delivered! Very limited seating (8 people) at the bar watching the chef work and cute decor added to this unique experience. They also have tables for 4 people but it's so fun to watch them make the food. Summary: Local ingredients and a rotating menu of delicious and beautiful plates for 125/pp. It's more a treat/celebratory spot for me but well worth it since I would have imagined a higher price point Can't wait for the next occasion to eat here!
Be the first to ReplyDelage is a wonderful experience which focuses on the food.
Quality is top notch, creative, and the staff is excellent. Two of us sat at the counter for an 8PM seating last Sunday. Atmosphere isn't much but pleasant and we didn't care. Again, the quality was off the charts. I only have a few pictures of the courses but they were all excellent. The chef also gave us a taste of this wonderful Chardonnay that his beverage guy brought in who happened to be eating as well. Money well spent here as one would pay nearly double I bet in some super bougie/chic atmosphere for similar quality. Cool neighborhood too. Hope to return here sooner than later!

I stopped in for dinner during a business trip and was staying in Oakland. I had such a wonderful experience at Delage with the prepared 8 course menu. Such an excellent variety of dishes, textures, flavors, colors! Each dish was clearly planned to fit into the larger experience with the ngiri being the highlight of the two sections of the 8 course meal. Big call out for the staff working the night I dropped in - wonderfully warm people that gave great direction on how to approach each dish and were great to be around in general. Stop in, make a night of it!!
Be the first to ReplyDelage never disappoints.
The food is excellent, presentation is outstanding and service is great. I make it a point to dine here every time I visit and will continue to do so.
Be the first to ReplyWow -- exceptional experience.
Always great but Delage 2023 is in the zone. Great variety. Nice folks. Wonderful creativity. And delicious.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for a double date.
They had both table seating and chef's counter. The waitress was very and gave a great recommendation on a sweet sake. The presentation of all the foods were beautiful. When I omakase, I like to take each bite with my eyes closed to focus on the flavors and textures. I was amazed with the food! Each bite was like fireworks! It was so flavorful and packed a punch. An explosion in my mouth! Yum!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for the boo's bday.
It's a small restaurant with limited seating. The fish was very fresh and each dish was unique and very flavorful. The fried black cod was hands down my favorite dish. We basically licked the miso sauce clean. Service was excellent. Would definitely come back for another special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyA+ for presentation and service.
I really enjoyed the dining experience and thought the staff was great. However, for the $$$, the sushi didn't blow me away and I've definitely had better sushi for less $$$. It is definitely worth it for a special occasion, but I won't be rushing back.
Be the first to ReplyI was very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful each dish
I was very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful each dish was. And of course tasted very delicious!! There is only one main chef and one server but it is a tiny restaurant with only a handful of seats. There are six seats at the bar and a table that could seat four. So make sure to make a reservation! There is a different set course menu everyday. I am attaching a photo of the menu but it had a pleasant appetizer, salad, 2 pc sushi, 4 pc nigiri, palate cleanser (ours was a super yummy plum/yuzu drink), fish katsu, chirashi, 4 pc nigiri again, soup, and dessert! It was very worth the price ($125 per person plus tax plus tip came out to be $326 for two of us). It was yummy but SO PRETTY!!! Each dish was such an art Would definitely go back many many times. (FYI - there is only limited street parking)

Delage is an exceptional omakase restaurant that I recently had the pleasure of visiting for a special occasion with my girlfriend. It's the perfect spot for a romantic evening, with an intimate atmosphere. FYI - you will need to reserve your spot in advance. Despite its small size, Delage offers an omakase experience that is both affordable and unparalleled in quality. The dishes were presented beautifully, and it was clear that a lot of thought went into the preparation and execution of each dish.Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with Delage and plan on returning in the future. If you're looking for a high-quality omakase experience that won't break the bank, this is the place to be. The presentation, atmosphere, and overall experience make it worth the visit. I highly recommend Delage to anyone looking for a special dining experience that won't disappoint.
Be the first to ReplyThe omakase here is incredible.
Everything you eat tastes amazing and so fresh. The service here is so wonderful as well.
Be the first to ReplyIn all fairness, the food is as good as I always remember.
Creative, beautiful and tasty. The service is absolutely ridiculous. Our waitress talked over me when I tried to explain to her my experience last four days of trying to add a fourth person in. She kept talking over me and didn't let me speak. So this review is strictly to get the managers attention. Long story short, I wanted to add a fourth person onto my reservation. I made attempts on the daily basis for four days to call the number that was listed on Resy in order to change my reservation. No one responded. The voicemail was full so the next thing I did was I attempted to contact the owner via Instagram. Didn't work either. I contacted two times and nobody responded to me. Then I finally found on the website it says the best way to contact us is it email us. So, I emailed. Sure enough, I got a phone call back and she said they they cannot accommodate the fourth person at 7 PM and my reservation was at 8PM. I reluctantly told the fourth person that we cannot accommodate her. I showed up at the restaurant and sure enough there was plenty of space to accommodate the 4th but I do understand that maybe there was just not enough ingredients so I didn't say anything. As I finish my dinner, I decide to say something to the waitress. She did not even allow me a word in. Thus this review. If I were the owner, or manager, I would make an attempt to contact me to see what can be done so they can create a better experience for such a phenomenal restaurant. I really want it by speaking up after my dinner place to make sure that if the phone number is not a good number to call, take the phone number off all sources, including Resy, including yelp. There was clearly not enough information that showed that emailing was the most effective. The second thing I would recommend, is to have a serious training session with your waitress to teach her with customer service is all about. Talking over your customer is not the right thing to do. Sorry if I am coming across extremely upset, and very passionate about how I feel. Being in the restaurant business for over 30 years, I understand the hardships of operating a restaurant. This is not to say I will not support the restaurant again, I just hope that honest measures are being taken to make it a better client experience. Lastly, the bill was taken care of prior to us even starting dinner. Needless to say we ended up giving 20% gratuity but if I had a choice to pay at the end of my meal she would've not gotten 20%. Overall great food. Kudos to the chefs. But horrendous customer service.

I went here for a birthday a pre-Covid, haven't been back yet, but I still talk about this place. Anyone headed to the Bay, I always recommend it to. Aside from the cozy atmosphere, the dishes itself are works of art. It was almost too pretty to eat. The courses are spaced out the right amount of time. I think for such a memorable experience the price was way more than worth it. I've had more omakase experiences, but Delage is up there for me. Enjoy!

I've been a couple of times and have always enjoyed the freshness of the sushi and creativity of the chef. Excellent meal for the price and quality
Be the first to ReplyThere is only enough seating for one group of four.
All the seats are sushi bar except for one table. There are two seatings each evening. You order beverages and pay through a QR code so make sure your phone is fully charged. They only serve wine, sake and beer, no cocktails. Wine are mostly by the bottle. All white or rose. There are about a dozen options. Corkage fee is $40 but with their limited options, it may be worth while if you want something outside what they offer, There were eight courses. Most courses were bite size but it was beautifully presented and the taste is phenomenal. The flavors are carefully paired with all the items they selected. It's also well balanced and not overwhelming so you can taste the main dish. For example, the nigiri already has soy sauce and wasabi. It's mild that you can taste the spice but also the fish. If you prefer to have tons of wasabi or soy sauces it's not happening. The menu advise the maximum seating time is two hours but since we were at the last seating, 8 pm, we were not rushed and it did take almost 2 1/2 hours for the meal. The first 15 minutes was figuring out we need to order our drinks via QR code and deciding based on the limited selection. The space is decorated with shelves of old cassette players and cassettes, nostalgic 80s. It's simple and you definitely notice the simplicity by the size and lack of restaurant name in the building or door. You can easily walk pass the entrance if you are not looking for it.

The omakase was a sensational experience, especially for the price point. We deeply enjoyed the array of flavors, the quality of the seafood, and the hospitality. The gindara katsu was a surprise favorite and the toro nigiri here was the best I have ever had. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant was amazing.
The plating was spectacular, the the tasting menu left me full and satisfied. The fish was extremely fresh yet creatively prepared with different sauces. Also, this tasting menu would easy cost double if the restaurant were in San Francisco. Highly recommend!

Along with Wakuriya in San Mateo, Delage is the finest omakase I have been to and I've been to a good few. Every item is perfectly prepared. The simple, small, quiet room is what's right. Yes, it's $100 but a lovely splurge. It would be more expensive still if it was in a frou-frou neighborhood. I went by myself and the 90-minute, well-spaced courses, gave me much welcomed space to think and write. Toward the end, the group seated near me began a pleasant conversation with me.

Had a great dinner out with my ladies! Food was amazing, presentation was beautiful and all senses were activated. Girls night out (it's been over 2.5 yrs for us), was a success! Can't wait to take hubby here for a date night when we're in town.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner.
Flatware, plating , color composition all on point (I looked at all the pictures through the years and she's getting more playful). All dishes are light, nothing over seasoned, most of the fish nigiri have all been prep/cured/seasoned, it's not just cooler to rice to mouth. Delivered a great journey through the 8 courses .(14-16 if you count each Nigiri separately ) At the end of the meal all I could think, if she charged twice what she did and what she could create with that budget. Hostesses /server was very sweet Colombiana that explained dishes well and interacted with our group like she's actually cared that we had a good time.i would have preferred to sit at the bar and get food immediately so that temp are at their peak...so if given opportunity, stay close to the chef .
Be the first to ReplyI think Delage is good/fair for the overall value.
This place was on my list for a while, and I was hoping it'll blown my taste buds away. While I thought the price was fair, and I walked away satisfied, I am not sure if I would go back. I thought the courses was decent, but nothing really stood out to me with the exception of the cod katsu in house sauce. So overall, decent experience, just not sure I'll go back
Be the first to Reply8 courses felt like 10.
Everything was tasty and a little different than other sushi places around. The staff is friendly and professional. I would recommend for anyone searching for a unique date night
Be the first to ReplyAnother omakase place I wanted to try that's not in SF.
Decent price for the amount of food served. I think it was $100 for 8 courses? You pay for everything via QR code so that's convenient. The restaurant itself is very small and we were seated at the bar. The location is easy to find. I think it depends on your reservation time, but ours was at 5pm so parking wasn't an issue yet. I think if you choose closer to 7pm around dinner time, then parking could be a bit hectic. I'm not sure if I'd come back, but I'm glad I tried it to be able to make that determination. My favorite would be nigiri and the soup towards the very end. Everything else didn't stand out to me. Who knows, I'll probably change my mind if they change up their menu in a few months.
