Good pub food
Popped in for lunch with no booking (on a Tuesday). Friendly, quick service. Basic pub food was fine, though mushy peas portions were extremely small. Reasonable value overall. I can't comment on the beer as I was driving and thus didn't have any.
Be the first to ReplyYou can feel the springs through the mattress and noise from outside, Go to premiere Inn !
Easy enough to find on the main street , Parking is limited, check in was easy enough , The room was big but the bed was bloody awful ! You could feel the spring protruding through the mattress! The windows are singled glazed and did not shut properly so you can hear everyone talking outside the pub or traffic going past ! There was a christening on when I arrived which you could hear every word from the room and a function on the second day again you could hear every word due to the windows, In all my time travelling this was one of the worst rooms ive ever had (room 4) ! The breakfast was probably the best thing about the stay, The hotel itself has nice decor but feels like it needs a good paint and some tlc spent on it definitely could be a nice place if it had some money spent on it, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfy stay, A lot has to be said for a premier in hotel and half the cost. Staff were nice the manager seemed a bit dim tbh but the young lad who was there for thr majority of my stay was 5/5 ! There was a problem with the payment for the room that the manager gave me some excuse about the payment not being stored but miraculously on checkout the payment was sorted but it was the young lad who checked me out so i think he knew what he was doing not like the dim manager. Cant comment on the food from the restaurant as i eat out both days but there is a amazing curry house just 10min walk from the hotel , One last shout to the young cleaner girl who was on every morning she was very helpful and nice.

This independent hotel is well worth a visit and the Manager went above and beyond to make our stay the best ever experience. We will definitely come back. The breakfast was delicious too. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Staff were polite and efficient.

Had slow cooked beef brisket here in February & it was wonderful - hot yummy tender. Had it again on a visit this week expecting consistency but it was tough & dry, hard to cut into & not nice to eat. 3 others in our party had same & agreed. Waitress didnโt come to table to check all was ok so I went to find staff & asked for more gravy to help it down, they provided 2 gravy boats but they were tepid. Carrot & broccoli were nice, mash wasnโt hot, overall really disappointed as I know they can do better.

I went to the stage last night with my best friend for a little bit of grub and some drinksโฆ. It was absolutely incredible, Erin the girl who served us was absolutely lovely, she went through all the menu in the drinks and even told us about a cheeky party going on tomorrow for Christmas Eve which we will be attending to. Thank you so much all the staff definitely canโt wait to come again. Really nice place to come for Christmas๐ โค๏ธ๐พx
Be the first to ReplyGood in parts - Needs a revamp - Food Excellent
The Stage is very much a โcurateโs eggโ. Positives: The ambience is lovely The lounge is comfortable with leather armchairs but shabby (ripped and worn out upholstery). It would be nice if they lit the fire. The bedroom was warm and comfortable. Room 8 The food offering at all meals was excellent. Breakfast particularly so. The staff were on the ball, efficient and friendly. The Manager was approachable and willing to listen. He looks like he needs a couple of days off though!! Negatives: The bar was noisy. The doors to the lounge were not kept shut. The parking on site was tight and limited, however we did just find a space. The โdrum & bassโ music from the bar was excessively loud and was not turned own/off until 0015hrs. We went to bed at 2230hrs. We went up for an afternoon nap on arrival as we had had a long drive. The residents of the adjacent room (several young girls) kept up a verbal assault with loud conversation, shrieking, and laughter for an hour or more when I finally banged on the adjoining door and told them to โBe Quiet!!โ The bathroom in the suite was tired and the shower was broken and held together with zip ties. For room that cost ยฃ260 for the Saturday night to Monday morning, there was no fridge (I need to keep my insulin cold) and no bottled water in the room. Both taps in the bathroom ran hot. On balance - keep the noise down at night to avoid losing your โolderโ clients, spruce up the lounge, light the fire in winter, revisit the bedroom amenities and equipment.
Be the first to ReplyVery highly recommended.
We held a birthday celebration as a party of 20 guests on Saturday 14th October. The food was delicious and piping hot. In particular we were very impressed with the menu choices, especially the gluten free options. The service was impeccably organised, attentive and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate anyone wishing to book a large gathering to book here. Our area was spacious and the way the tables were positioned made it easy for everyone to be sociable. We were all delighted with how the celebration went and will definitely be returning.

We booked a table for a Birthday Dinner, turned up no booking! Waitress 2 weeks ago wrote it down didnโt make electronic diary! Most of us had three courses, food and service was excellent, and made up for their mistake on booking. I believe we were served by the general manager, and he stayed to make sure all was perfect, as he departed at the same time as us!
Be the first to ReplySo out of character - poor food!
We have eaten here so many times in the past because it is an excellent place. Comfy surroundings and excellent food. We have always recommended it highly. It is therefore disappointing to report that the breakfast on the 1st was terrible. Don't misunderstand, the quality of the produce was up to its normal impeccably high standards but the cooking left a lot to be desired. It was clear that the majority of items hard been cooked well before and had been under a hotplate for some time. The bacon was like cardboard the beans and toast were cold. I found that the egg was difficult to cut, and that was with a decent knife! I understand from the waitress that there is a new chef in place. The sooner they learn the "Stage" way and standards the better. I did raise it with the waitress but felt, on reflection, a written statement would (hopefully) be more effective in ensuring that they return to their normal high standards.
Be the first to ReplyLovely comfortable friendly hotel
Room cosy and clean with enormous comfortable bed. Some road noise early morningwhich you'd expect as overlooked main road but wasn't really a problem with windows closed. All the staff were lovely, friendly, welcoming and helpful, particularly Ali/ Oli, sorry can't remember exact name! Breakfasts amazing, one of the best we've had anywhere and restaurant in the evening great too. Overall a lovely relaxing stay and will be back soon thank you.

Be the first to ReplyA bad experience
We had the worst coffee we have ever been served. We wasted ยฃ6.50 as we could not drink it. If you advertise you are selling different coffeeโs train the staff to make them. When we took them back to the bar there was no apology, an offer of another coffee or better still, a refund. The chairs in the front lounge are disgusting, the fabric is worn away and the stuffing is coming out. They look filthy!!! Never going back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent place to say when visiting Peterborough
Really good place to stay if youโre visiting family or friends in the Peterborough area. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The rooms are situated above an old stage coach inn. The bar downstairs is lively - and includes a good selection of draught beers (if thatโs youโre thing) and other drinks - but is not too loud at night. There is parking behind the hotel (or in front in the town square). We stayed under a bed and breakfast package, and the next morningโs fare was very welcome after a very celebratory New Yearโs Eve. Overall, the Stage is excellent value and we will definitely be staying again when visiting the area (and would not hesitate to recommend it to others). Special thanks to Suzi who went above and beyond in forwarding to our next address certain items of clothing that we accidentally left in one of the rooms (very celebratory New Yearโs Eve refers).
Be the first to ReplyComfortable accommodation with very friendly staff
An enjoyable 5 night stay whilst visiting family. Every single one of the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable, heating excellent although I would have appreciated some kind of heating in the cold bathroom! The tiny old TV could be improved on too but it certainly did not spoil our stay. Breakfasts were fabulous. Great choice and beautifully presented with everything cooked to perfected. Friday nights are rather noisy for a good night sleep sadly.
Be the first to ReplyBoxing Day Drinks Poor Experience
Weโve been visiting for a fair period of time, and slowly notice The Stage customer experience declining. Boxing Day we visited, no heating on and no fire lit, served drinks in wrong branded glasses wish is poor and makes one wonder if right drink has been served, also ordered G&T all the tonic was poured in no presentation of the tonic bottle so you could as little tonic as you like, could taste the gin unfortunately. We dined here several times, food has always been of quality standard in the Restaurant. However we are not prepared to pay for expensive drinks to sit in the cold. The Stage seriously needs to up its game for us to return, Iโm afraid to say!
Be the first to ReplyNoise from Taxi Rank
Had a one night stay here whilst attending a wedding in the area . On arrival at hotel found the car park to be very small so parked in the market square which was fine Found the room to be comfortable if a little tired As our room was at the front the noise coming from the taxi rank below was not good,it went on into the early hours,I appreciate the Hotel cannot be held responsible for that. But be warned it could be noisy on a Sat night Breakfast was fine. But I think having a flask.to make you tea or coffee from was poor and perhaps something they should try to improve Overall a good visit
Be the first to ReplyConvenient location.
In its basics this is a convenient and comfortable hotel. Would make a number of observations, that would not stop us staying here again: 1 Car park is very limited- truthfully ought to say so first come basis. 2 out of hours access is an obstacle course up fire escape steps and flat roofs- not for those with impaired mobility. 3 Our room (2) did not have a readily accessible socket. 4 There was assorted debris under bedside table (photo below)- inference that room had not been properly cleaned.

Rooms are a bit tired looking. Expected more from the breakfast, had full English which was very nice, but serve yourself tea and instant coffee using water from a flask! Cereal available but no fruit or pastries. Expected more from a hotel costing ยฃ95 per night
Be the first to Replynot again
Went for lunch with 3 friends. 3 of the 4 orders came out wrong and had to be done again. My order was supposed to be a lamb kofta on pitta with salad. The lamb was totally cold on a cold plate. Sent it back to be done again. The portion size of ยฃ9.95 was miniscule. The lamb kofta was the size of one small sausage cut in half lengthways with a small pitta bread. A glass of wine ยฃ7.50 The 3 friends were great company but none of us would repeat the experience at the Stage for lunch. We were not offered anything for our disappointing experience.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Setting by the river
We popped in for lunch and had Brie & Cranberry Ciabattas, which come with Chips. Very nice, although we are vegetarians and the bread smelled a little of meat. Whic was a little off putting. The girls (staff) are really friendly behind the bar and helpful. We sat by the river with a nice cool drink on a sunny day.. what could be better? We will be back for a drink in the not too distant future.
Be the first to ReplyLunchtime snacks and drinks , disappointing staff attitudes
We went to The stage today to sit down by the river, enjoy the scenery and a sandwich with drinks. The tables down by the river were not cleaned and had previous customers empty mugs, plates ,napkins etc. on them. Went to the bar to order food and drinks and politely said we were down on the beach bit, we were told we can't bring food down to you, you ll have to get it from us when we shout. Okay, strange but okay.... We then had to stuff our pockets with cutlery, condiments in sachets and napkins to take to the table. The beer needed to be returned and changed and coke was warm and flat. When the food arrived, true to her word, she bellowed across the beach bit, had anyone ordered our requests. We acknowledged her and were bellowed at again....you have to fetch it, we can't come down there. (4 steps) The food was at best mediocre, but we ate it as hungry. Drank our drinks and enjoyed the scenery of the river, children playing on a summers day. When we left, the table had our empty plates, empty packets of sauce etc and dirty napkins...cause guess what? We can't bring the plates up from the beach either.....so not sure who does go down and clear them, lol. Sadly won't be going back for a while, staff attitude stank, unprofessional and sloppy. Better places to go.
Be the first to ReplyBest Breakfast yet!
Since moving back to Lincolnshire last year we have a couple of times a month devoted a weekend morning to trying to find the best breakfast in the area. We have been everywhere from high end farm shops to transport cafes on the busy A roads. This morning we decided to try The Stage and it was our favourite so far. The fact we could sit outside was fantastic as we are always covid concerned. The staff were efficient and professional yet friendly, the order was taken smoothly and without the pretentiousness of the farm shops (when we were at a local farm shop we were exhausted by the time weโd heard the extensive coffee menu) . The food was plentiful, piping hot and delivered at a good speed. We chose a full English as that it what we order everywhere to be fair. We are however excited at the prospect of eggs benedict and pancakes another day. Price wise it was a little cheaper than the farm shops and a little more than the transport cafes and a cafe opposite in the square and on par with our previous favourite next door. Only thing that could of topped it was hubby said heโd like the sausage to be less tight, I could see what he meant but it didnโt bother me. Perhaps the high end coarse sausages at the farm shops are rubbing off on him! Look forward to coming back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent family meal time!
I visited with my family today (19th February 2022) and we had such a fabulous time! The food spectacular! The service was 5/5 from the two young waitresses (one with purple hair and the other with long blond hair)! And overall everything was fantastic! We will most definitely be returning back to this establishment and highly recommend for those looking for a lovely spot for a family meal!

I visited the stage with a group of friends for a afternoon tea and wasn't disappointed. We had heard about it from a mutual friend who had visited for a afternoon tea for her birthday, she raved about it so we thought we would give it a try. It was fantastic! Great value for money and the selection was superb. Not only was it a great experience, the setting itself is beautiful. The staff were very welcoming and did their upmost to cater to our needs(one friend needed a gluten free option and one friend needed soy milk for example). Couldn't recommend the stage or their afternoon tea enough, we will definitely go again.
