After months of stalking this restaurant, and settling for
After months of stalking this restaurant, and settling for lesser than great, came here spontaneously for lobster and pasta. (Listened to Kaliii's song too much!) The Yelp pics looked fantastic, the reviews were almost all five-star, and it was too easy to walk in early on a Friday night. Pulled up in an Uber and our friendly driver was blown away by the restaurant's exterior cuteness. He could see the glowing candlelight and maybe a hundred or more small Polaroids, which he guessed were of customers. Upon a closer look, they were the sweetest yet simplest moments of patrons, staff, food, and wine. But the highlight of our meal was the cheese and complimentary bread that came at the beginning of our meal. We shared the lamb ragu and of course the lobster pasta. Although the lobster tail was tender, the pasta sauce was not memorable to say the least. The lamb ragu was definitely tastier but reminiscent of a school cafeteria lunch special. Wish I could say the service was great but I was served a glass of wine after another couple who came in and ordered after us was served. They also were seated in one of few tables that are not counter height. We found our seats uncomfortable and our table extremely small, but there weren't many other choices. My glass of wine was ok for $19. But the $8 Galvanina orange soda was quite refreshing.

A hidden spot in Crown Heights, the restaurant is small, but cozy. Despite New York being known for its plethora of Italian restaurants, D'antan manages to stand out and deliver some fantastic food and wine. The food is not your typical sauce and meat heavy dishes you might try elsewhere in NYC, but presents a lighter spin on your typical Italian fare. The wine selection process was very interactive and memorable. It made our dinner feel like we were somewhere significantly more upscale than the reasonable prices suggested. Overall, go to D'Antan.

What a beautiful experience! Lovely restaurant, period! T (I hope that's correct!) made a beautiful experience even better for us. Wine, food, atmosphere, price, pleasant host!

Amazing staff, great food and atmosphere ! It's a little pricy for the crown heights area
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing cozy restaurant! The staff was so kind.
For the wine, we described what we were looking for and the waiter got us both the exact kind of wine we wanted on his first try. It was delicious. Food was great and the ambiance made it an amazing night. Great place for a date night or girls night! A hidden gem.

9 I'm absolutely obsessed with this spot. Its atmosphere is so intimate, fairytale-like & hidden. I was a bit surprised but there isn't a lot of options on the menu. I went on a date & we ended up splitting the truffle pasta which I don't think is on the menu anymore. It was really good, but tbh I'd probably go again just for the atmosphere. There were plants everywhere and it was definitely a 2nd / 3rd date spot vs new date. I highly recommend if you're looking for something different & romantic.

Came for the first time tonight after having it bookmarked for a long time and will definitely be back. First of all: thank you for staying open late!! So hard to find restaurants that are open past 10 pm these days and much appreciated! (We came at 10 pm on. Sunday and had the place to ourselves, but never felt rushed and in fact felt like a super special intimate dinner). The atmosphere here is just lovely, with a great soundtrack that's never too loud and overall cozy and somewhat romantic ambience. Our server was incredibly warm and knowledgeable and made great recommendations. There are of course two big reasons to come here--natural wine and pasta -- and we were super impressed on both fronts. As people familiar with but not super knowledgeable about natural wine, we found the "wine wheel" approach to talking about wine fun and accessible and our server recommended two unique and tasty option. There's no wine list or prices listed but the two we chose were both $18 which seems average these days. Pasta...wow. We tried three -- the wild boar ragu taglietelle, lobster taglioni and lamb ragu mafalde. All were perfectly cooked and tasted super fresh with sauces that weren't at all heavy but the lobster was the total standout. So rare to have lobster in pasta that's cooked perfectly and the cherry tomato sauce was insanely good. Overall such a wonderful spot!

Lovely service with knowledgeable staff.

This restaurant was such a dreamy spot for dinner last night. We made a last minute reservation after our last one fell through, and they were able to accommodate us right before closing which was very kind. Due to how late it was, we had the restaurant to ourselves, and it made the whole thing feel so special cozy. Our server was so amazing, very welcoming , and tentative. The restaurant has a really unique feel. It feels like you are having an intimate dinner at a friends house. The wine menu was so cute, with a little spin wheel which helps the waiter make recommendations so you can explore their unique selection. The pasta was also very delicious, and you can definitely tell that the pasta was homemade and fresh which was nice. The sorbet was also very delicious, however, I wish I could have tried their speciality flavor blueberry for something different. I definitely recommend coming here, particularly for a date night, it will feel magical.

Food was also great. I'll definitely go back again. The wines could be pricy :)
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite secret spot.
The wine selection is amazing and is worth going for on its own! The food is really good as well, classic and authentic Italian food. The wine is the selling point though in my opinion.
Be the first to ReplyMeh is the best ways I'd describe it.
No drinks list so the waiter determines how expensive a glass of wine you're drinking (between 16-25dollars a glass.) A wine pairing price with dinner would make more sense. Beyond that you reserve a table for dinner and unknowingly get sat in the "outside seating" which is muggy, dim and depending on your spot very far from service. Wonky tables that aren't practical for dinner. The inside of the Actual restaurant is really rad albeit small. The food is par but not what you'd hope for from a small craft menu. Physical menu seems like they have been around a while and could use an update.

Perfect date spot but expensive, one glass of wine and entree will be 50 per person. My partner and I went for our anniversary and had the best pasta and gnocchi we've ever had. The atmosphere is beautiful and romantic, with small marble tables, polaroids, antique lighting, unique glassware, fresh flowers and bottles of wine lining the walls. The servers seemed to know wine well, and the wine was excellent. If I made more money I'd go back more often! Our server was a little miffed we didn't drink more or get dessert, and it was so quiet inside we got a little shy about talking, so those were my downsides. I'd still say you should absolutely go if you're a wine lover or looking for a romantic spot with INSANELY good pasta.

My boyfriend and I are still talking about our dinner and overall experience at D'Antan the morning after. Man oh man, did this place hit all the right spots. You're hit so hard with insanely delicious smelling food before even opening the door to the restaurant. The decor is so unique and imperfectly imperfect. There are so many different types of wine to choose from and the food just melts in your mouth. I had to get the pasta with Maine lobster being from Maine. My taste buds were very happy to say the least. We will definitely be back soon xox

Be the first to ReplyEasily the best Italian restaurant Ive been to in a while.
so cozy and romantic, its perfect for date night or an anniversary. They have an extensive wine list which is always a plus and a menu that you could not go wrong with. At this point close your eyes and pick anything- 100% satisfaction. The burrata and asparagus blew my mind, why hadn't i ever thought of that combination?! All the right flavors coming together, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! love the idea of such an engaging wine menu, was a fun twist to the date!
Be the first to ReplyThe perfect date spot.
The service was top tier, wine was spectacular, and the food was HEAVENLY. I even got a chocolate tarts dessert that my taste buds enjoyed. It's dimly lit with intimate vibes and light music. I highly recommend placing a reservation and taking your interest here. I'm definitely coming back very soon!
Be the first to ReplyI loved the ambiance of this place .
It's so comfortable . I wouldn't recommend huge groups go here it's a very intimate space . Really nice for date night and a gal/pal date . The food was decent . I wish it was a little more flavorful . My biggest issue with this place is not having enough vegan vegetarian options I would have love to see more and at least one vegan dessert . But it's a nice place

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was *amazing*. The ambiance was lovely; we sat outside, where a portion of the sidewalk has been converted into an enclosed, heated space that feels like an Italian garden. The wine list was unique; we tried an unfiltered sparkling wine that was excellent. Finally, the star of the show was the food... we got the burrata along with two pasta dishes, each of which was fantastic, and wrapped up with a dessert that combined chocolate almond cake with chocolate gelato. Even the music--exclusively Italian pop, from what we could tell--was great. We'll definitely be going back soon!

Seating is uncomfortable and cramped, food portions are small and expensive, they do not serve beer. I literally had to order takeout from another restaurant after eating here.
