Daikaya (Ramen Shop 1st Floor/ Izakaya 2nd Floor) Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Some of the best ramen in dc.
The wait goes quickly. Vegan friendly! Much better for small groups.

My favorite ramen to this day! Tried it first in 2019 and nothing has lived up to it ever since
We were in the area to attend Awesome Con 2024.
Food courts at the event were packed. So we decided to try Daikaya Ramen as it was just 10 mins walk from the event. We got very lucky as they had a table for 4. I have heard that this place is usually packed. Very fortunate. As soon as we got seated, there was a decent line. Service was great. We had a couple of questions regarding their specials. Our waiter was very nice to explain the specials to us and also recommended some things to us. Most of us ordered the spicy miso. It's so good. I have never been able to complete a bowl of ramen, but I crushed this one. It was so delicious. Highly recommend this one. Not too spicy. Spice levels are 5/10. Price is nominal as well. Similar pricing to other ramen places. Ambiance is cool. It's a small place. They have a combination of booths, standing and rotating seats. I will definitely go back again.
Cozy little place, amazing food.
Our group split dumplings and the ramen was delicious, good flavor and heat. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Consistently fantastic food and service
We had not been to DC for 5 years, but we made a point to return to Daikaya. We were not disappointed! The menu was just as surprising as before, and everything we ordered was top-quality. It was a busy Saturday night after a Capitals game, but our outstanding server Laura made us feel completely at home, made some great suggestions, and really made us feel like regulars despite how long it had been since our last visit.
This is my favorite ramen I've found in the DMV.
I've tried several different types of their ramen and has loved each one. I love their spice bomb! Even though they don't have reservations, the wait is never very long. It's not a place to just sit and hang out. No frills and family style seating.

I must say this is some of the best Ramen I've ever eaten, although the restaurant is the size of a closet the food is worth, squeezing in for
Okay ramen a little pricey.
I had okay service they did not really check up on you. They can't really seat larger parties of 4. I was in a group of 5 and I had to sit in the edge. When we were heading out and we paid the lady chased us out saying why we left a small tip. Keep in mind they automatically charge you extra to help with cost of living. I was extremely disappointed and taken back when she got mad that we did not tip extra. I am extremely confused on why she would even go out of her way to run after us.
I loved Daikaya years ago when I lived in the city.
This time however - the soup was bland. Noodles and toppings were okay. I left most of the meat untouched. The skill and care that went into each bowl just isn't there. At this price point, I expected better.

Stubbled across thos after my movie got canceled across the street. Great drinks and skewer up stairs and Ramen downstairs. A Gem
Twenty minute wait, but food was amazing and atmosphere
Twenty minute wait, but food was amazing and atmosphere aesthetically pleasing. The room was a little bit loud but overall good experience. 10/10 recommend.
Good slurping
Arriving a midweek evening about 6:30pm, the place was packed. Put my name down for the waitlist, it was about a half hour wait to dine at the communal table. We ordered the mugi-miso and shoyu ramen. Wish they would give both halves of the egg for the shoyu ramen!
Delicious ramen near the Gallery
We had a pleasant dinner at this ramen place near the Gallery in DC. Everything we had was delicious: both the shoyu and the spicy miso ramen were great. We had the spring rolls to complete the meal. Service was correct (thanks, Jess).
Every visit to DC
I eat here every time I visit DC, sometimes more than once. The ramen is flavorful and made quickly. I swear the draft beer is the coldest and freshest I’ve ever had. I love to sit outside and take in the sounds of the city. Don’t pass them up, they are amazing. Close to a metro stop or walking distance from the mall.
Great experience at the ramen bar
As people keep pointing out, there are two restaurants here - a ramen bar downstairs and the izakaya upstairs. Downstairs does not take reservations, upstairs does, so don't come for ramen unless you are ready to possibly wait. I luckily got in just after opening for lunch and got a seat right away. I had a really nice experience, and I have no idea where the one star reviews are coming from. I had a really friendly and smiling person take care of me. I sat at the ramen bar and got to watch each bowl get made. I had the super spicy ramen and was wondering if they meant it - they do. Do not order it unless you are the kind of pepper head like me that smiles while sweating and crying a little bit. I have had better presented ramen with all sorts of things arranged just so to be pretty, but this was a big, spicy, hearty, and tasty bowl of ramen. I happily slurped and sweated from the heat. The pork was tender and not too fatty. The tamago egg was very nice to mix in and I also added on a half soft boiled ramen egg, which was done just right. I literally watched my food come straight off the line with fresh cooked bean sprouts straight out of a wok. Unless you come when this place is slammed, I am not sure how you could end up with luke warm ramen like someone had in another review. Had a great macha green tea (iced) that was unsweetened and was a great way to cool the flames from the ramen. I do think the ramen was a bit pricey for the lack of polish - meaning that I would have likely rated this as 5 stars if it were a little dive in a neighborhood with like $10 bowls of ramen. Dropping $25 for ramen and a glass of green macha iced tea, plus tip and the service fee, is what makes this a 4 star review. Go and enjoy knowing it is a big, hearty bowl of ramen.
Do you like a luke warm bowl of noodles?
It's my first time in Washington DC and you bet the past few weeks I've been pinning every foodie recommended spot. We headed straight over to Daikaya after checking in, getting in at around 730pm on a Wednesday evening, we got to steal a spot on their communal tables. Service, atmosphere, and vibe are completely relaxed and chill. Food was the biggest letdown. For $23 a bowl, you get 1 single cold piece of Chashu and half of a cold soft boiled egg to accompany your now Luke warm bowl of noodles. The soup will have you finishing the pitcher of water. It's THAT salty. The one good mention for the spot is that the texture of the noodles was perfect. Aside from the chew of the noodles and the super friendly service, the bowl was by far one of the most disappointing ramen bowls I've ever had.
Do not go
The worst ever! No service at all since after you will notice in “small” in the menu that they “include a mandatory 20%”! The waiter was a real horror! Not talking, bored, etc everything to make your experience bad!
Delicious, friendly, a little pricey
Can't get past the super friendly service here - truly met our needs quickly, efficiently, and in such an upbeat manner. The food was great; their main broth is their own take on a common broth in Japan and it works great. The menu is a little misleading though - in a good way - the bowls ALREADY come with chasu pork and some other goodies and not just broth and noodles as we interpreted. We shared a lovely bowl of ramen on a rainy day and it hit the spot. We also shared some gyoza that next time I would skip - poor value and the taste was off - along with a small bowl of perfectly cooked rice. Would go back, but it’s a bit of a special treat; not a value proposition.
Review for 2nd floor restaurant.
I wouldn’t recommend the 2nd floor restaurant. Service was bad. Food wasn’t good. Staff was lazy. An automatic 20% tip is added, probably explains why the staff doesn’t care.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

Give the best answerApp
This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
