Local fav was just ok and too expensive for lunch.
Lunch meal at a local well known spot on the beach. Sat outdoors with heat lamps. Lots of fish. Had sand dabs from Alaska. Not many local items which was disappointing. Kept asking for protein origin points, only one local. Had to pay for parking outside in a city lot by a boat launch. Expensive lunch was way too much food! Shouldโve been $10 cheaper and smaller portions! Said to get very busy due to local rep.
Be the first to ReplyWe came for an elegant and tasty dinner, got that and some great memories of our time together.
My husband and I had been here a few times before and enjoyed ourselves. This time was made much more memorable by our server, Justine Iadiano. She was professional, friendly, made us feel like we were number one the busy, crowded restaurant. From what we observed, our server treated everyone with warm, professional service. Thank you to the Chef for the wonderful food and Justine for the terrific service. We will be back. M & L from Monterey
Be the first to ReplyGreat food with an even greater view
The service was impeccable. You must try the ravioli and the sole was perfect. Throw in the view and the crowโs nest is the place
Be the first to ReplyLong time favorite beachfront restaurant.
Good food as always. Ate upstairs and enjoyed the oceanfront view. Great restaurant enjoyed by out of town visitors and local alike. Been coming here for many years. Never disappoints.
Be the first to ReplyStill enjoyed it but prices are up
We came at Happy Hourโฆabout 4-6 pm. Had drinks and several appetizers. Calamari, crab cakes, clam chowder (and ordered some sourdough bread to go with it). Server was pretty goid. Good not bad although their prices have increased and portions may be smaller. At full price it would have been overpriced. We did enjoy ourselves though we didnโt stay long enough for the music this time.

Great views. The fish tacos were good, but not great. You have to pay to park here. We ate at the casual upstairs bar.
Be the first to ReplyNoisy but food is good.
Food was great. Prices ok. Expect a 5% surcharge for added profit inside is very noisy. Not a romantic place. Good views of the ocean

Great both times but expensive!!! We went to Crowโs Nest a few months ago & the food, service & ambiance were wonderful!! We went back September 2023 again for a birthday celebration. The hostess was wonderful & I inquired(via phone prior to arriving )if they could refrigerate a small cake for me during dinner, which they did & they brought it out at the end of dinner with the candles I provided & knife & plates they provided. The server Corbin was great! He was both professional & friendly. Prior to dinner, my husband & I sat outside & had 1 glass of wine & 1 Guinness & shared calamari for approximately $50! The dinner was expensive also but considering it was a celebration & the food, service & company were great, it was worth it. Iโd recommend the Crowโs nest. We didnโt deal with parking since we took Uber to arrive.

I've been here twice and both times loved watching the boats come in to the marina. Call for a reservation, when you get there ask for a seat at the window, and my advice is to go before sunset so you can watch the sun go down and watch the ships come in to the marina. Oh, and the food is great!

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel front desk. The atmosphere was nice but noisy for a Wednesday evening. Service was somewhat sluggish at first as it took awhile for anyone to take drink orders. We all declined adult beverages and it seemed to put a damper on our server's attitude. Our meals were not nearly as good as we anticipated. I opted for a "local" favorite, Sand Dabs. I had no idea what kind of fish and I feel the waitress did not adequately explain the fish. It was a delicate white fish but such a thin fillet it was mushy and overpowered by the parmesan crust. The rack of lamb was terrible according to one of my companions. Another in our party had the mahi mahi. She didn't say much other than the drizzled sauce was a strange flavor. If ever I make it back to Santa Cruz, I'll seek seafood elsewhere.

The appetizers were good. They didnโt have artichoke though. The service was good. The drinks were good. The ambiance & was fun & relaxed for a nice Friday evening dinner.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service, horrible staff, could not be worse
Terrible experience having dinner here for my husband's birthday. We were overcharged, literally treated like garbage when we complained. we are repeat customers and it was shocking to be treated like this. the Tweenies at the front desk were unapologetic jerks. We were shocked. Do not go to this place. There are other restaurants, Zelda's, Shadowbridge, El Toro, Gilda's, Stagnaro's, to name a few. What a disappointment. Steer clear!
Be the first to ReplyNot the place it used to be
I've not been to Santa Cruz for a few years and was looking forward to returning to The Crow's Nest, but I'm sad to say its gone down hill since my last visit. The food was average, the service a little lacking, and there was a strange mix of people dining there. I found it really hard to believe the calamari was "award-winning". The one redeeming part of the experience was dessert. The key lime pie and pumpkin tiramasu were both excellent. Probably wouldn't recommend, which is a shame, as it used to be a favourite go-to destination.

1/2 price appetizers! We had clam chowder which was delicious! Then homemade chips and the seared ahi tuna! Everything was wonderful! Great waitress too!
Be the first to ReplySand, Sea, and a California cuisine meal
Always a favorite because of location, view of the Pacific Ocean and boats and beach and โฆthe food. Three friends out for lunch sitting on the outside balcony we had salad bar, fish sandwich and fries and one had an Ahi tuna salad with rice noodles. There are 2 restaurants to choose from. The downstairs floor level is more formal and has a brunch menu and served rolls and asst breads. The upstairs restaurant also has inside and outside dining with a bar and an outside balcony for viewing the ocean and hearing the waves. It was a choice restaurant for a birthday lunch and has desserts. There is a parking lot run by the city (?) which is reasonable .
Be the first to ReplyGreat view, challenging logistics
While the food was pretty good (especially the swordfish) there was a comedy of errors that caused the meal to take 3 hours. The waitress was very sweet, and did her best. On the positive side the view was lovely and the creme brulee was delicious. I suspect the labor shortage affected the outcome. Great location if you are willing to roll with disruptions.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely Disappointing
Extremely disappointing. We visited on a Thursday night and the place was packed. Staff was snooty and basically told us to go elsewhere unless we wanted to wait 2+hours for a table. Everywhere we looked, there were patrons with no food in front of them and they looked pretty unhappy. My husband overheard one guy complaining about the wait for food and heard the server apologize and say the kitchen was backed up. Used to restroom to quickly wash our hands and was met by a staff member who told us the bathrooms were for patrons only. We told them if they had a table for us, we would be patrons! The whole experience left a lot to be desired. We left and went a few doors down to El Palomar and got seated right away. Staff was much friendlier and the food was great. I think The Crow's Nest is overrated and I wouldn't go back if you paid me.
Be the first to ReplyLunch in Santa Cruz
We were on a day trip to Santa Cruz and were getting a little hungry. After walking around for a bit we found The Crows Nest. They have indoor and outdoor seating upstairs and downstairs. I recommend outdoor because the view is gorgeous. The service is great, our waitress was nice and quick to get us our food. It was a seafood restaurant but for people who donโt like that kinda stuff there is also a few things for those of you. It is family friendly there is a kids menu and there are a wide variety of drinks. Highly recommend this as a midday meal.

Food garbage. Service worse. Stomach ache today. Sum=won't be back. It's too bad as I know this is a Santa Cruz landmark.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant On The Harbor
This is a great restaurant on the harbor in Santa Cruz. The view is outstanding as it is right on the beach. You can sit outside or in. There are two levels in the restaurant. The first level has more choices to eat as it is the main dining room. The second level is where they have live music and a smaller menu but still good food. The Tempura prawns are really good. It comes with vegetables and mash potatoes or you can get rice pilaf. The salad bar is also a good choice as they have a lot of toppings to choose from. Be sure to try the Clam chowder as well if you order the soup and salad. Overall this is a great restaurant by the beach.

Who Rates This Place 4-5 Stars?
We were looking for seafood so we gave this place a chance on our way to Carmel. The ahi tuna salad had 4 small pieces of ahi on it, though the salad dressing itself was interesting, as it was spicy, for $25+. They couldnโt grill the Maui Maui, as it comes panko-encrusted. Does that mean pre-frozen? Regardless, we ordered the only grilled fish they had, tilapia, not our favorite by a long shot. Two glasses of Brancott Sauvignon Blanc at $10/each, when a bottle will set you back less than $10. At least the wine was fresh. Service was good, though. We wonโt be coming back.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect date night
The service was perfect and the atmosphere was perfect. The food was good. I donโt recommend the Cesar salad. But I do recommend the award winning calamari. Bring warm clothes if you sit outside. They also have great

Be the first to ReplyBetter than I expected
We had dinner here with friends lately and I'm not one for touristy-type restaurants, so was pleasantly surprised with our meal. Service was good. We sat outside which I thought would be cold but we were very comfortable. Good job!
