Omg!!! Jambalaya gumbo fried chicken and lamb were all sinfully delicious the flavors are what I've always dreamed it would taste from New Orleans will be coming back again and again from New York
Be the first to ReplyHad a bowl of gumbo there on St.
Paddy's day. The roux, everything was fantastic, but very very salty.
Be the first to ReplyProbably my favorite spot for drinks and food.
Etouffee is the best, but all the dishes are spot on.
Be the first to ReplyDid not have the shrimp creole this time.
I opted for a combo shrimp and crawfish poboy. The bread was soft and melt-in-your mouth but also maintained its integrity in the face of overstuffed shrimp and crab. The fries are good, but you don't really need them, this poboy is enough. My husband had the jambalaya which is what he always gets and he was incredibly pleased to see that it's still damn good. The prices are still so reasonable, too. This is a place you need to time your meal because it gets pretty busy fairly quickly. I didn't use the restrooms here because I remember them being pretty bad so if they've been improved in the last 8 years, I apologize.
Be the first to ReplyFood was under seasoned and very watery.
The fried chicken tasted good but nothin special. The shrimp etouffe was tasty but diminished by the bland watery mushy rice base

Worth the wait and sitting at the bar is best! Ms Laura guided us on suggestions: from the shrimp and grits to the blackened redfish, everything was AMAZING!!!!
Be the first to ReplyI'm a local, have eaten here before.
I had read about their rabbit and sausage jambalaya - so thought I would give it a try. I ordered the rabbit and sausage jambalaya supreme, (they add shrimp and tasso to the dish.) It was just okay. Tasted like the cook had put an overwhelming amount of hot sauce on it - to give it a little flavor? Addition of that much hot sauce should be left up to the individual diner. Hot sauce overpowered the flavor of the dish. Portion size was good. As far as the service .... the grouchy female bartender/server (I ate at the bar) was making negative comments to the customers about other customers and food workers that came into the bar while I was there. Didn't think that was necessary. I do recommend the chicken. Have eaten it on multiple occasions.
Be the first to ReplyWe really enjoyed the visit.
They made a special vegan dish for us. The atmosphere was very cozy.

Fun local dive bar that my sister and brother in law told me about years ago. I've stopped by both times I've been in New Orleans. Fresh, homemade food with great service. The seafood gumbo was our favorite part of the meal. The bar area is the place to sit to get to know the staff who's all been there forever. The place is small, but normally busy. No reservations taken and I appreciate it being 21 and over.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome food.
Totally unique atmosphere with colorful personalities from front of house to the bar to the servers. Highly recommended for both locals and tourists.

No kids no frills! Just the most amazing Jambalaya in New Orleans! Beer is super cold and the bartenders are full of sass! Want to have an Un Bourbon Street greet this is where you will want to go! Try the Rabbit and sausage jambalaya supreme! Get there early or there will be a line!TOTALLY WORTH IT! This is our first stop every trip!

Ubered here after looking for a place to eat that was still open on Sunday 2/12. I even checked the website to see if it said what time the kitchen closed etc prior to heading there. We open the door and the guy in the middle screams WE ARENT TAKING ANYONE ELSE TONIGHT and turns away. The entire restaurant looks at us after he screamed that. Put it on your website that you close before 11 (an hour later than we arrived) before people Uber to your restaurant. Was excited to try to food here and he could have simply said hey the kitchen is closed but have a drink if you want or come back another day. Customer service goes a long way in the industry. As you can see by my other reviews, I never write negative reviews as I think working in the public is difficult but have common courtesy when you live in a tourist town.

I order the Cajun pasta, shrimp and crawfish ethoufee with rice on side, cup of jambalaya, and side of fries. I saw that Mark Wiens went here and decide to try it. I order to go and it was all amazing. The bartender there was very nice and helpful asking how many plastic ware I need. Overall experience first impression coming in with nice air conditioning on blast. I would definitely come back and order more dishes.

Small restaurant off the side right before you hit French Market. They card you before you can enter. Service was a little slow, our waitress disappeared a few times & had to remind her of a few missing orders & drinks. I was excited to try their etoufee but was sadly disappointed. It was very bland & a little watery. Their fried chicken & fried crawfish appetizer totally made up for it though. Both SO good.
Be the first to ReplyCame here on my 2'nd day of my NOLA trip.
Things to know:1. It's a small, dark, restaurant. Almost prohibition style. 2. They card you at the door, 21+3. Drinks are not great.. had a sazerac and a mojito neither were amazing left about half of both 4. Food was okay the best I can recommend is the fried chicken ( it was amazing actually)5. Service was mid. Asked for more fried chicken and the waiter kind of ignored our request and gave us the bill instead..
Be the first to ReplyI gotta say, we had one of the worst meals at Coop's Place.
It was doubly disappointing since Coop's has nice reviews in Frommer's and online. The two of us each had the Coop's Plate tasting menu, which included Coop's famous fried chicken and sides of shrimp creole, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. The plate came with a topping of, and let me say it with emphasis, one pitiful fried chicken wing set atop the three adjacent servings of the "sides." Needless to say, the chicken wing was a derisory token of what was supposed to be their specialty. The shrimp creole, jambalaya, and beans & rice were pretty much indistinguishable, perhaps due to the fact that they all tasted like warmed over servings of leftover preparations. This meal earns a bottom rung in our culinary hell.

BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER!!! The server/bartender with the man bun was halarious! if u are a sensitive person i wouldnt recommend their whole thing is almost like a comedy central roast but of u. only 21+ very strict on checking ids which was nice to not have kids around. no phones at the table either. the whole place looks like a dive but its what the inside that counts and all the food i had (fried crab claws, sampler, etoufee, fried mushrooms) all tasted super fresh and like someones grandma was back there cooking all day... oh theirs a secret drink menu, pretentious prick and fruit f*cker were great.

Yup, we did it, we came back for a second meal! Actually tried coming 2 other times but there were lines and I didn't want to wait! Our 3rd attempt was after Mardi Gras. Just like our first time, we were lucky enough to get the last table in the house! Food was just as delicious as the first time! This will definitely be on our list of places to come whenever we're in town! Great food, great vibes! Don't pass this place up!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food.
Funny, sarcastic (meant to be) service. LOVED! Chicken so great, ordered one to go!
