I was craving pasta and a Caesar salad so I stopped by
I was craving pasta and a Caesar salad so I stopped by without a reservation and was able to sit at the bar since I was solo dining. It's a cute smaller restaurant with dim lighting. The Caesar salad was perfect portion for one but could be shared if getting another appetizer. They bring bread and olives for the table. Loved the tagliatelle. Bartender provided great service!

This is a charming little pasta restaurant in North Slope, but the wine list is abysmal (it's a very short wines by the glass list and the two that I've tried have both been disappointing). Service, while friendly, is slow because they seem to be understaffed. I would not recommend coming here right before a game or show at Barclays.

A very charming, warm neighborhood spot with all around very good food -- just don't come in a hurry! The main room is cozy, rustic and somewhat romantic-feeling with a soundtrack of bossa nova covers of pop and rock classics. My husband and I were seated at a table in its own corner -- very cute. Food overall is very solid and well-prepared. A favorite was the lamb chops which were perfectly medium rare and served with surprisingly delicious grilled zucchini as they ran out of the usual cauliflower. Only quibble here was that service was extremely slow and not super attentive -- it took almost 20 min to find the host when we got in, we had to stand up and yell to the bartender at one point just to get water, and our fairly minimal meal (one app, two entrees) took more than 45 min to start arriving. The restaurant seemed very understaffed for a Saturday night.
Be the first to ReplyConvivium has long been a favorite of mine, and I have been
Convivium has long been a favorite of mine, and I have been going several times a year since shortly after it opened. However, I am very unlikely to return. A group of 6 of us had a reservation for 9 pm on New Year's Eve. All 6 were at the restaurant on time, and we checked in. We were told it would be a few minutes, and we should wait outside (on a chilly evening). About 10 minutes later, they told us the our table was being cleaned up--it would just be a few minutes. 10 minutes later than that, someone came by and said--it will be very soon. Then they seated another group of the same size that had arrived after us, and again, assured us we would be seated soon. By 9:40, several of us went in to see where things stood, and the manager, who was busy flirting with some young women at the bar, ignored us for several minutes. He then told us it was New Year's Eve, and that the computer had messed up making too many reservations (I love blaming the computer, not the folks who define the algorithm). At about 9:43 we were seated at a table under the only speaker on that floor of the restaurant, which was blasting music appropriate for a teenybopper event. We asked to have it turned down, nothing happened. We asked again, and it was turned down for about 5 minutes, then blasted again. It was difficult to hear each other and the waiter. The food took a while to come, and most folks were happy with what they ordered. I ordered my long term favorite ravioli dish, which was nowhere near the quality of what I've had so many times before. The duck (if it was duck) was heavily laden with salt, and the ravioli were stuffed with a filling that hadn't been mixed well. It wasn't terrible, but it was deeply disappointing compared to prior times I had eaten it. It saddens me that a long-term well run restaurant has turned into such a mess. Several of our party had been on previous New Years Eves, and said this experience was horrible compared to prior visits. Scratch this one off the list!

My husband and I made a reservation here to join our sons and their significant others for a holiday dinner. Honestly, food doesn't get any better than this. The place is a step out of time and into an old world Italian storefront with beautiful decor and freshly made pastas and fabulous wines. The Montepulciano wine was out of this world - especially for the price. We added the burrata, charcuterie platter and salads to start. All fresh all high quality. Great bread and EVOO with olives. Of course we tried the tagiatelle with a veal and beef ragu along with the linguine and gnudi - delicate gnocchi type pasta in a lovely white sauce. I had the lamb - several small chops breaded lightly and medium rare on the inside. Incredible. It's a quiet place even when crowded. Service is knowledgeable and quick and not hovering. Although a small storefront it was comfortable and welcoming. Desserts were a large portion of wonderful rich tiramisu and a flourless chocolate cake which we had with espresso. No rush, no pressure - we had a chance to catch up on our lives in an atmosphere that was comfortable and inviting. There are so many great choices in Park Slope and surrounding areas. I am glad we decided on this unique and special restaurant.

stopped by for some wine and eat before the concert. cute place, nice staff. wish i wasn't in a hurry to try out their menu

Great neighborhood spot! My boyfriend and I came for dinner one night and ordered: + Albarosa cocktail + Biancon and tonic + Polenta + Caesar salad + Ravioli + Tagliatelle + Tiramisu My favorite cocktail was the biancon and tonic, and the best dishes were the Caesar and their signature green apple ravioli. Tiramisu was also awesome!
Be the first to ReplySmall but charming place.
The service on a Saturday night was deficient. The restaurant was packed and they clearly needed more people. Slow to get drinks and food! Although the menu has a variety, it is not extensive, and for an "Italian" place it would be nice to have more pasta options. All 6 dishes we ordered needed seasoning! The only positive was the close distance to Barclays Center.

I got the squid ink pasta which was pretty tasty, but thought there could've been a bit more sauce or better emulsification. Also had the burrata app which was ok. My friend had the ravioli and we both thought the duck was amazing, but found the apple as an odd pairing. Ambiance was pretty romantic, but there was so background music which when there wasn't any talking made the area we were sitting in feel kinda dead (downstairs). Service was honestly kinda weird. Attentive when serving, but long periods where I wondered where servers were. Multiple servers attending at times so unsure of if a request or order was put in. And waiting for entrees took forever, so would've been great to get an update on them.

In terms of ambiance I believe their downstairs is very pretty but their outdoor seating wasn't phenomenal and is just on the street. Service was good and very fast. They accept reservations up to 8:30 but their kitchen closed at 9 so we arrived under a tight turnaround at about 8:45. We got there as the kitchen was closing so that may be a factor, but overall the food wasn't phenomenal - though I'd give it another try. The daily special (tortellini) was dried out but flavorful, and the squid ink pasta was good but the shrimp had an odd butter flavor akin to movie theater popcorn. The octopus was alright.

Very romantic vibe, good for dates but it can get crowded and the food is tasty but not mind blowing. The specials were intriguing though

Best Italian food I've ever tried, the place is so nice and cozy, I like to celebrate my birthday in the very nice basement they have, really recommended for small celebrations, service is always amazing they are so friendly and kind. I highly recommend burrata and grilled octopus as appetizers, tagliatelle, linguine and lasagna are my favorite pastas ever also the steak is to die for, I suggest you make a reservation since is always busy!

Nice ambiance although it was chilly - I kept my coat on throughout most of the dinner. We were the first people seated for the evening, so initially the room was empty except for us and wait staff. However, no one came to take our drink order for about 10 minutes - and that was after I flagged someone down. The wine was delicious, and the wait staff was attentive about water refills. The waiter had trouble with English, so we could not understand most of what he was explaining for the specials. We ordered the squid ink linguine with shrimp and the whole sea bass. The flavors were very good; however, the shrimp came with tails and peels on, so we had to eat the pasta and then unpeel the shrimp with our hands - nothing like leaving a meal with seafood smelling fingers. The sea bass flavor was great, but I ended up having a bone lodged down in my throat which I had to extract in the bathroom - I'll refrain from the details. We had asked for the fish to be de-boned. When I informed maybe the manager (?), she was very nice and apologetic, and gave us our dessert on the house. The dessert was apple pie - tasted like a cookie with applesauce filling. Wish I had seen the review about all the cockroaches- never would have come.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place one of our favorites in Park Slope.
Food is really good and staff is very pleasant. Decor is also very nice reminds me of Tuscany.

HOW IS THIS A BIB GOURMAND?? I very rarely leave reviews of any place, let alone negative reviews, but I had a horrifying experience here. I was seated in the corner of the underground wine cellar by the wall. After my food arrived (pappardelle), I began to eat. I noticed a medium-large sized pregnant roach from my peripheral vision emerge from some type of vase/pottery on my left about a few mins into eating. I waited for someone to come by downstairs to mention it to them but it seemed like most of the staff was occupied with customers upstairs. 5 minutes later and two baby roaches also emerged. One of them crawled onto my table and into the bread plate. I was disgusted at this point and quickly went upstairs to inform a staff member. They were worried but didn't seem shocked by this information and quietly moved me from my seat downstairs to one upstairs so other guests in the cellar wouldn't notice. I wasn't offered an explanation or a replacement of my food, although I didn't think any roaches crawled into my main dish. I decided to stay for god knows why and ordered the tiramisu, trying to enjoy whatever was left of a ruined meal. I was offered the main dish on the house at the end of the meal (and not the dessert). I should've immediately left after I saw the roaches as I've never had an experience like this at a single one if the hundreds of restaurants I've been to. STAY AWAY FROM THI PLACE.

Went here with some girlfriends on a Wednesday night and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too crowded. We got a reservation because whoOoO has time to wait in line these days??The ambiance and food were both a 5. Delicious, cool/dark lighting, and the food runners were kind and cleaned the tables in between courses. I was mildly shocked by the very poor service. We had to ask the waiter to take our order and we had to ask him for the check. Thankfully he dropped us off a pitcher of water so we were able to refill our waters throughout the meal. Once the check came I had to ask someone to pick it up. I'd probably come back because the food was good, but the lack of urgency/acknowledgement of us as people (lol) would lead me to go somewhere else first.
Be the first to ReplyCame here in October, and had a decent experience overall.
The ambiance was cool, we sat in the lower level and had a big booth. It was very dark, if that kind of thing bothers you.The food was hit or miss. We had the artichoke starter which was really boring, very disappointing. I had the squid ink pasta which was great - a definite hit and the favorite at the table. Also tried the cacio e Pepe which was good, not outstanding. Service was fine, nothing special.Overall it was a decent experience but I wouldn't return.
Be the first to ReplyMy coworkers and I got invited to come here for a rep
My coworkers and I got invited to come here for a rep dinner event. The place itself is definitely small and cozy (really nice date night vibes). They had us downstairs which was very rustic wine cellar vibes. Since it was an event - the menu was pre-fixed including the drinks. The mint lemonade that they have is absolutely delicious - would recommend this! For food we got: -Burrata: This was so good, but you cannot go wrong with burrata. Highly recommend this-Plenta: Would pass on this - the smell was very off-putting for the majority of us and we were not a fan of the texture-Gamberetti: The shrimp was really good, the flavors went really well with the shrimp and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. -Fettuccine: This was just alright, nothing special. The pasta was perfectly cooked but the flavor was just alright -Linguine: Highly recommend this; the flavors were so good together. -For Dessert they gave us: tirasmisu, chocolate cake and panna cotta - the best one was tiramisu in my opinion.Overall cute spot for a date and the food was pretty good!
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I traveled from California and had dinner
My boyfriend and I traveled from California and had dinner here at 9:00 pm on a Thursday. Other that two other ladies at a table, we had the place to ourselves. The staff let us stay past closing which was nice give how famished we were and how much wine and food we ate. I enjoyed the ravioli with a unique apple ingredient. And my unexpected favorite was the polenta. The tiramisu for dessert was also very delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is just plain fantastic.
Classic, rustic Italian joint with very good food. The lasagne and Caico e Pepe are particularly good, but you really can't go wrong. It's easily in the top 90% of best Italian places in all of NYC.
Be the first to ReplyCozy restaurant in a nice neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Enjoyed the appetizers a lot. Pasta was good but not like "omg so amazing I need to come back" good. Props to how big and tasty the tiramisu was though! All restaurants should serve tiramisus in this size. Loved it!

RUDE nasty manager (I believe he was the manager), LOVELY waitstaff, especially Julio. Inedibly salty fettuccine in red sauce; great lasagna.
Be the first to ReplyTIP: Request seating in the wine cellar, much better
TIP: Request seating in the wine cellar, much better ambiance, more spacious and a little quieter than the upstairs dining room, and you get to sit among some cool wine bottles.5 People shared the following appetizers: ย Burrata (great), Gamberetti (good), ย Polenta (the mushrooms were a great addition), and a Caesar Salad (loved the authentic anchovies dressing). For a main I had the linguine (house made squid ink linguine with shrimp, cherry tomatoes and Calabrian chili peppers). ย It tasted great, used the fresh bread to wipe my bowl clean.Pet Peeve Warning: shrimp were served with tails and shells on them, meaning the diner has to battle with a fork and knife to get to their protein and/or use your fingers which either way is a major downer for me. ย I see no culinary value in serving them this way instead of fully cleaned/shelled.
Be the first to ReplyFood is great.
Love that the pasta is homemade. Service is excellent! The waitors and busboys are extremely attentive to detail. As an appetizer, try the octopus or polenta. Their rabbit is exquisite and tiramisu divine.

Although the food was excellent, what really stands out is the service. You can really tell that they put in a lot of effort to provide an authentic experience. We got the burrata and the quail for appetizers, both great. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the ragu in tagliatelle was very rich.
