Excellent
Excellent , polite service. My breakfast was fresh ,tasty ,lots of it and the coffee was great with the waitress asking me periodically if I wanted a refill...I refilled 4 times. Love the old photos of the Commodore and the 50 year old menu with the old prices.

I hadn't bee here for 30+ years and the only things that seems to have changed are the painted walls and the waitress. I guess the prices have risen a bit too but still good value and decent food with excellent service. It was good to be back into my comfort zone in an old familiar place that proudly displays it's 75 years in business banner and a rouges gallery of drop by musicians and pictures of friends throughout the years. I HOPE THIS PLACE IS STILL THERE FOR ANOTHER 75 YEARS!!

Omg, this place is great. The diner has been owned by the same family for 80 years. You step back in time when you enter, met with a smile and made to feel so welcome. The food is old fashioned, wholesome and filling. Don't expect anything fancy, but you can expect affordable meals and good service. We ate here twice for breakfast during our stay in Edmonton. Kids enjoyed the pancakes and French toast with bacon (both days), I had eggs and bacon and an omelette, while my husband also tried a corn beef hash, which coming from Australia was something different. What we found interesting was the number of locals we spoke to didn't know the place exited. If you haven't been, give it a go!
Be the first to ReplyA classic experience.
A rare restaurant experience. The Commodore is a classic family-run cafe like those I visited with my dad as a child in Toronto in the 1960s. Not fine dining. Simply mid-century food made with the care an owner would show. Dave Gee owns, cooks and provides his eclectic collection of music for your listening pleasure. The service is excellent and personable. Ask for hot sauce and receive the list of options! Saturday morning live music? What cafe does this? Yes, tipping the musicians is recommended. Look for the 'Gee 1942' cement block outside on the sidewalk. Cool exists at the Commodore.

Here’s a big brunch shout out to the classy and sassy Peggy and Roxanne at the Commodore Restaurant, who treated us like family with love and laughter. Kudos to the kitchen crew who created the most divine corned beef hash this guy has ever tasted!

I found this place after the place I work at moved downtown. Went going for lunch not knowing what to get or even where to go Edmonton and downtown are somewhat new to me just moving here 2018 but having been here many times due to family here and even than was not downtown very often I happened to see the name and it somehow made me decide to go here It wasn't until later that day I found out it is the oldest restaurant in Edmonton Ok enough about that Food was terrific Wonder service and nice atmosphere too good prices too

Went the other day for breakfast. Hadn't been here in a few years, but have eaten here for more than 20 years. The food is diner quality, but like most restaurants, portions are far less now. Would go again, but prices have risen so dramatically to be on level with far better food places. Not sure I will return again. I can get a pretty nice breakfast for the $17 this cost me.
Be the first to ReplyOld fashioned, basic diner in the heart of downtown Edmonton.
I was looking for exactly this type of diner/restaurant, as I walked from my downtown hotel. Clean, friendly, cheap, basic old fashioned diner. Perfect!
Be the first to ReplyA long-standing Edmonton Gem!!
My family and I have been regularly visiting Edmonton's Commodore Restaurant for about 15 years. They, however, opened their doors in 1942! Although we are now "Regulars", as well as friends with Dave, Willie and their daughter Meagen (who is in the process of taking the reigns, as the 3rd generation of Yee family management), everyone else who visits is treated as well! The food is (mostly) simple with daily surprises. Pricing is very, very affordable- across the board! Their staff members are happy and comitted to what The Commodore does differently from its' peers. There is local music on weekend mornings at 11:00 am. As this is a non-judgmental, affordable downtown diner, the demographic of The Commodore's guests range across all planes. I/ we love the vibe here & I/ we always have! **Note: ONLY CASH IS ACCEPTED**

Had lunch with a friend at this icon of the 60s style “Western and Chinese Cuisine” diners. Now in the hands of the third generation family members you can get a smoked meat Rueben or the Chinese lunch special (complete with Campbell’s soup). It’s retro, it’s comfortable, it’s fantastic. It’s not fast food ... it’s just plain good food.
