Excellent and not overpriced either.
Five of us had a wonderful dinning experience that everyone will remember fondly. Surprisingly for the quality received the tariff was good too. The size of the meals were average but certainly adequate - but a tad smaller than Iโve become accustomed to after a fortnight in Tassie. We all had different dishes, with mine being the chicken. I had the Black Forest Cake for desert which was heavenly. The wines werenโt overpriced either. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Great staff who were very attentive too.

High Tea for Saturday lunch at Collins Kitchen is a must! The atmosphere was perfect, the service on point, and the food delicious! Love the dessert buffet to round out the high tea experience. Good value for money.

The service was friendly, attentive, informative and always cheerful in my two visits Food was really Expensive $18 for cheesecake $50 for pork The dish was in small portions and vegetables came burnt. Didnโt take more than two monthfuls but they were kind to waive off my sparking water as a gesture

Evening dinner with family. It has been many years since we have experienced dinner here, and Iโm afraid it will be many more before we are back. The service was terrible, we had to request the waiting staff to take our drink order, food order and then the bill - despite waiting patiently for quite a while. The food itself was ok. The pickled vegetables for entree was so over pickled that it left us guzzling the water (that we needed to ask the wait staff for). The cauliflower main lacked depth of flavour, despite being topped with a garden of herbs. The stand out was the side of Asian greens and thick cut chips. Our daughter complimented the pork belly which saw us give an extra star. Overall not the best experience and certainly not to the standards we would expect from Melbourne.

Came here with my family as we haven't returned to CK let alone the Grand Hyatt Hotel itself in years. The service here is truly top notch with very friendly, approachable and yet professional staff. A very special thank you Anthony, Masayo, Flo and I believe the Manager, Lalaine, for looking after us even though we were not hotel guests. Will definitely be returning!

The search for the best weekend breakfast buffet in Melbourne stops here. Hands down the best not only in Melbourne but best in many years of global travel. Have eaten here several times at 7AM and by 8AM starting to get crowded. The buffet selection is amazing from hot, cold, continental and Asian (loved the dim sum selection for breakfast (its how we roll). Though somewhat expensive its really worth it in my opinion. I tried the Langham this morning and pretty much sucked, back to Collins Street tomorrow

I took my Mum here for High Tea for her Birthday. The food was beautiful and all of the Staff were so professional and polite. This was the perfect outing on a Wintery Melbourne day. Thankyou.

This morning I had the great pleasure of dining for breakfast in Collins Kitchen, one of the many restaurants in The Grand Hyatt Melbourne.
From the moment of entry, it was nothing but professionalism, and nothing that the staff can do is too much for the staff to make a guest of the hotel feel welcome, and feel like royalty.
With a wide selection of fresh pastries, cereals, juices, and bacon and eggs, a choice of a full buffet menu, or A La'Carte the choice of options is endless.
I will definitely be dining back there tomorrow morning before my check out
Great hotel restaurant!
Given many of the other hotels are still restricted in their offering we were very pleased with the food and service.
Staff were outstanding.
Very attentive. Remembered our names and coffee preferences each day. Very impressive.
Breakfast were really great. Lots of choices.
We had the NYE buffet which was also great. Not cheap but again lots of great choices.
Would stay at the Grand Hyatt just on the service and food @ the Collins kitchen
Do not visit!
What a horrible place... 6 of us had dinner on 6 Jan 22' and it was an embarrassment to me personally as the host when no one had anything good to say about the place.
- Limited menu with no entrรฉes or starters; online menu was not the menu at the restaurant!
- Food took a very long time to arrive.
- Tuna/chicken/steak were all over cooked and rubbery.
- Side plates (chips and veg) arrived after we had nearly finished our food.
- Service was inadequate and we had to keep asking staff to top up glasses, no one really interacted except for taking the initial order - no extra drinks, didn't ask how the meal was etc.
- skipped desert just because of the poor experience and went somewhere else.
- Not cheap - we spent close to $90pp, without desert!
Don't bother
The service was terrible the manager was far to important to help guests. A new staff member was obviously not trained properly was he got things wrong. The desserts were disgusting worst I've ever had stale, taste combinations didn't work, coffee used was cheap and bitter.
Would not bother again definitely not worth the money
Good poached eggs
We had breakfast here during our stay at the GrandHyatt as breakfast was included in our package. The food was plentiful and well presented (particularly given Covid restrictions). Freshly poached eggs to perfection every time, and the coffee was excellent.

I booked for a group of 8, a month in advance, for a birthday celebration. I clearly advised at time of booking of a guest with an allergy. Also sent reminders leading up to the date. Less then 24hrs to the booking, the staff member (a team lead) I had been dealing with the entire time sends an email to inform they cannot cater for the allergy and that the person is best not to eat at their restaurant. Appalling customer service. This left me panicking to find a venue, with less than a day and instruct the guests. So disappointing.

If you are after a quiet but sophisticated lunch spot then Collins Kitchen is for you. Otherwise, give it a miss. The food was fine, but nothing special, and the atmosphere was completely dead due to there being so few diners in. I know that pre-C days that this was a buffet restaurant and I would love to return when it's back to see how different things are. Otherwise I'd prefer to go elsewhere in town.

Donโt waste your time or money. Waited an hour for our food when we finally received it, it was all bought at once entree and mains!! Seasonal vegetables was a plate of broccoli, salmon was dry and overcooked!! Only explanation was that they had a private function so their food was going out first. Bad service bad food.

Great breakfast selection - basically everything you could want. Teas and Barista Coffee included in price. Can use entertainment book for 25% discount.
Be the first to ReplyChewy lamb souvlaki, arrogant attitude and poor service
Service on arrival around 10pm was slow and I was sent around as they couldnโt decide in which section they wanted me to sit. (Not a warm welcome at all, as they tried to send me off to the bar which has a limited menu, even though their kitchen only closes at 1030pm. Other guests arrived half an hour after me and they were welcomed to sit in the main restaurant area). Eventually ordered the lamb souvlaki - once I was seated in the lounge area - which was recommended by the waitress. It was not good at all! I just ate it because I was hungry. It had very little, flavorless, tough & sinewy meat and the salad ingredients was soggy and not fresh. They wrapped it in a thick pita which made it even more difficult to eat. It seemed to have been made by an amateur. When I complained to the waitress she just said โokayโ... A rip off for $24! Avoid!!
