Once Was Enough.
The location isn't ideal. It's located on Second Street, tucked between auto repair shops, gas stations and car dealerships. Expensive. Food is average. The best thing about my meal was the arugula salad. After that, nothing memorable. Wait staff is inexperienced. Service slow. Not the sort of place for repeat business.

Disappointing. Always enjoyed our visits to Cochon in the past BUT this time service was poor and food was ok at best. I know Cochon can do better.

First off, the food here is excellent as well as the service. However, there is probably several reasons why this "fine dining" restaurant is not in the top 10 for Williamsburg. First, to make a reservation, one must provide a credit card. If you cancel within 3 days of the dinner date, you will be charged $25 per person! So if I get the flu or my husband gets the flu, $50 is handed over to the restaurant. Secondly, it was disappointing that we provided information on the reservation that it was my birthday. The server wished me a happy birthday. But given the high prices of the dinner entrees, and that they charge if you cancel within 3 days, can't they afford a small piece of cake with a candle as a birthday celebration? We will never return here again. You can count on that.

Cochon on 2nd is a charming restaurant that offers great food at very reasonable prices. Our service was excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant. I had, and recommend, the Baby Lettuce Grilled Corn, Blue Cheese and Pickled Onions salad and the Smoked Maple Leaf Duck Breast with Fig & Port Glaze.

A very busy restaurant, especially during the holidays. Reservations essential. Nice decor and table settings. Food is very good. Service is friendly but can be a bit slow during busy times.

Lovely place close to colonial Williamsburg. Great food. The servers and hosts were very attentive and kind. Good food. Great salad and starter choices.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional food, outstanding service 10/10!!!
Incredible food, exceptional service. Top 5 in Williamsburg without a doubt. The food is beautifully prepared, locally sourced when possible. Have been here twice and both experiences have been a 10/10. Cannot say enough - be sure to make a ressie. I’ll be going every time I visit (which is a lot … my son goes to William + Mary).

We went here for our anniversary and had a great dinner. Eric was a great server and added to the overall experience. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. It seemed everyone was aware of the occasion. The food was excellent. We had the filet and a special, a red snapper. Both were excellent. The dessert of chocolate mousse and creme Brule were also delicious. We will definitely be back

Fantastic food and amazing service. We sat at the bar and David was our bartender/server. He was so funny and the overall atmosphere of the bar is fantastic. Met some interesting folks. A family with 4 screaming children was seated in the back room and annoying everyone around them with no effort to control their kids. After trying to accommodate them, they were eventually escorted out to everyone's delight! Well done!

We were there for our 49th anniversary on May 18. We started out with the bread which was very good and we requested seconds. Then we had the onion soup which was OK. The entrée consisted of New York strip steak. It was a little bit on the tough side and the rub that they used was not our favorite. I would prefer the steak at either the outback or opus 9. The potatoes were pretty good, they were scalloped potatoes, made with blue cheese and parmesan cheese, but you could not taste the blue cheese at all. The other vegetable was one carrot stick, and one asparagus beer, both of which were quite hard and undercooked. We did enjoy the dessert. I had chocolate mousse that was flourless, and it was heavenly. My husband had lemon cake with strawberry sauce and it was very good. The bill for just the two of us came to over $200 with the tip. We thought for that price it should have been a much better meal. The service was good however.
