A little late to the Cobi's party, but better late than never, right? The answer to that is 100% when it comes to this southeast Asian restaurant. Their motto is "join us amongst the flowers" and they should add to that "for some amazing food". Everything on the menu looked good, so we opted for the Chef's Selection. Here's everything it came with: 1x Raw Bar - kanpachi 2x Snacks - 3pc. grilled prawns + curry puffs 1x Curries - Beef Rendang 1x Wood Grill - beef short rib with a side of roti Everything was flavorful, hot (temperature & spice), and the order of dishes flowed well together. Highly recommend grabbing a bottle of wine and food with friends here.
Be the first to ReplyA hidden gem.
I loved the decor inside, it was like being inside a cute fairy tale cottage. I absolutely enjoyed it. The prawns were the main star. The short rib was also good and the coconut shaved ice was one of the most authentic dessert I've had in awhile. They did a great job, overall an amazing restaurant that I take all my friends to.

Heard great things but disappointed when we came across a bone in the branzino. Luckily we caught it before eating it. Totally ruined our night.

I have no idea how Cobi's attracted the attention of the Michelin Guide (not that I take it particularly seriously), but they somehow did. The food tastes flat and subdued in comparison to their much more humble (and less expensive) counterparts. Basically, the food tastes like it is catered to stereotypically American palates. It'll likely impress you if you don't experience the wealth of Asian restaurants that exist outside of Cobi's.

Service: attentive, fast delivery of dishes Quality/taste: each dish was memorable. Highlights were the grilled shrimp, nasi goreng, chicken curry, and roti. Ambiance: lively, a bit on the loud side since the room was packed I'll be going back to try more dishes!
Be the first to ReplyThis place was a true 10/10.
From the service, to the adorable decor inside and the food was one of the better Indonesian restaurants I've been too. You truly can't go wrong with any food items on the menu!

I came here for dinner today after hearing all of the hype and this place did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. For the appetizers we got the salmon and curry puffs. The salmon was definitely the highlight of the meal. We both loved it. The salmon was fresh and fatty and it paired beautifully with the shrimp crackers. The curry puff was good too but it was probably my least favorite dish. I wish it came with chutney for the dip. For the main dishes, we got the nasi goreng and butter chicken. I really enjoyed the nasi goreng but it had an overly sweet aftertaste. I wish it was more savory. My friend adored this dish. The butter chicken was delicious too. Very savory but definitely not authentic butter chicken. My friend, who is Indian, thought it was very Americanized. I've definitely had better at Indian restaurants. Overall the food was delicious and I would love to come back to try new dishes and order the salmon again.

Amazing amazing food! Me and my girlfriends came to celebrate one of our girls birthday! Delicious and flavorful, the ambiance is also amazing and an incredible vibe! The service is quite quick and our food came out piping hot! Will be coming back as soon as possible!

The food was good but the hostess at the front was awful and completely unprofessional. It's a shame since the atmosphere and the rest of the service was delightful but the hostess started the experience with such attitude and disregard, it tainted the entire meal.

We made reservations here for an anniversary dinner and the ambience at Cobi's is absolutely amazing! Parking isn't too bad when you pull up but you're greeted by a beautiful patio and archway and as you walk in, you see an amazing flower ceiling. The interior is so romantic and tastefully decorated and if you're looking for a great date night spot. Their food is a mixture of Indian and Indonesian cuisine and I would say that their stand out dish is the Butter Chicken. I also tried the Nasi Goreng with pork belly which was pretty good too but not outstanding. Their Butter Chicken was decadent, savory, and paired amazingly with the Naan. While the ambience and service is amazing, I have had both better Indian and Indonesian food at other spots which isn't to say that Cobi's food isn't great but it wasn't as flavorful as other local places I've been to. Overall, though, Cobi's is a great SM spot to take your loved ones to and I would recommend it - especially considering it's a slightly lower price point than you would expect from such a beautiful spot!

This is not one of my top five restaurants in the Westside, everything is so unique and flavorful - the food is phenomenal. I just had it the second time the butter chicken is unreal, roti is also amazing and we got the beef short rib that melts in your mouth. I can't wait to go back mine was delivery through DoorDash and still tasted amazing. Go try Cobi's you will not regret it. So much better than other nearby options.
Be the first to ReplyDecent southeast Asian food on the west side.
It's a little on the upscale side though, so expect higher prices and smaller portions than what you would normally have at an Asian restaurant. Our favorites were the branzino, butter chicken, and short rib. The African curry is also very unique.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the 2nd time I've eaten here.
Ordered most of the items on the menu. We got our table 25 minutes after the reservation time. Not the restaurants fault if people continue to be endlessly chat after the bill is paid. The hostess and server were very apologetic and they gave an appetizer on the house. Great customer service! All the dishes were really good, but the beef rendang dish was a big disappointment . The dish lacked any of the rendang flavor profiles; maybe it wasn't salted properly and didn't carry the other flavors, and I could be wrong but it didn't seem that the coconut milk was infused into the beef, rather, the coconut milk was served on the side.

GREAT food and drinks :) Service is always excellent

Reservations: Making reservations at least a day ahead of time is a must! Cobi's is a popular spot, and securing a reservation ensures a smooth and timely dining experience. Parking: on the street Must-Try Dishes: The Butter Chicken at Cobi's is an absolute game-changer! The rich, creamy sauce paired with tender chicken had my taste buds dancing with joy. It's a must-try for anyone who appreciates a well-executed classic. Pair it with the Lychee Blossom Cocktail. Ambiance: Cobi's strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and warmth. The cozy yet elegant atmosphere provides the ideal backdrop for a memorable dining experience. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual dinner, Cobi's sets the stage for a delightful evening.

Ok.. I understand why this restaurant has basically 5 stars here on yelp. The food is absolutely amazing and the ambience is so cute and aesthetic. I love their outdoor seating on the patio. It felt like I was eating in a garden. The vibes were immaculate at dinner tonight. We ordered basically half the menu. It was great. Huge favs were the butter chicken, short ribs (oh my goodness, to die for), and the beef randang. You need to order the roti to eat with the proteins and to dip in the butter chicken. Chefs kiss all around. The servers were funny and super kind and service was very fast! I felt like they really timed everything well because as soon as we finished one dish, the next one was brought out almost immediately. Will definitely come back the next visit down to santa monica! Tip: this restaurant can be difficult to get reservations because of how popular its is so plan ahead!
Be the first to ReplyI feel compelled to write due to all the glowing reviews
I feel compelled to write due to all the glowing reviews which was not our experience at all. The hostess was lovely and the food was tasty but that is where it begins and ends. We sat on the patio, very nice. The waiter told us after sitting maybe 5 minutes that we should order or he might forget about us because he had so many tables! We were there to enjoy an evening out not rush through our meal which is the vibe of this "turn tables as quickly as possible" establishment. We got a new waiter after the waiter overheard us complain to each other about him. The food came out so fast and furious despite us asking to pace the meal. We barely finished the appetizer when a harried food runner arrived with our dinner. She proceeded to tell us she only had two hands and could we clear the table for her so she could put our food down! Also, no explanation of any of the plates, just dropped tNot worth going into any additional details but suffice it to say, if being rushed, having zero hospitality on the part of management, and feeling like you are part of the masses thinking this is the best restaurant in town, then this is your place. Yes, the food is good. Is it Michelin quality? NO. It is very tasty comfort food. Most of the dishes NEED rice and/or the roti bread to fully enjoy the chef's vision so why not raise the prices a few dollars and serve the food with rice and roti?!?! Sad when places get so impressed with themselves that they forget a large part of dining out for us patrons is the entire experience.

Every single thing was amazing! Really cute spot too! 5 stars.

My husband and I were one of your first customers in weho and wrote first review. The food here has been fantastic since it started during the pandemic. Huge fans! The ambiance is moody and intimate with quirky decor vibrant decor which I feel matches the food. The service is a little slow but depending on who you are may like it. Please bring back that African peanut curry from the weho location. Thanks!
Be the first to ReplyTHE PAPAYA SALAD.
Great starter, very refreshing with tons of fresh herbs, crunchy peanuts, and just a touch of spice. Also got the fried chicken, which was delicious and a TON of food for the price! The curries were thick and comforting. Definitely recommend the African curry - unique, smoky flavor that went great with the roti. The atmosphere was also great. I'd describe it as a mix between modern and grandmas house. Trendy roses hanging from the season and a soft house playlist paired with mismatched furniture, doily accents, and cups and saucers made for a great vibe. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable! We had a later reservation but they were able to squeeze us in earlier, which was awesome! Sat out on the patio which had plenty of heaters - every seat was comfortable.
Be the first to ReplyThe culture and atmosphere here is unparalleled.
Not to mention the quality of food here is so elevated that it's one of the rare places in Los Angeles you would go to twice in the same week. The staff is exceptional and you can really feel how tangible and unique the full experience here is. We love it, thank you so much for cultivating such a specifically delicious culinary evening!
