Lovely Restaurant - Leave Room for Dessert
Lovely restaurant with excellent service and amazing food. Loved the soft shell crab. Leave room for dessert. Best bread pudding in NOLA. Delicious homemade peppermint ice cream. Fantastic wine list.
Be the first to ReplyClassic NOLA - simply one of the best.
We visit NOLA every year and every year we come here. Just classic - tried and true - no need to change type resturant. Food is always great classic New Orleans cuisine, cocktails are excellent and staff are top tier professionals. Love it and I’ll never stop coming.
Be the first to ReplyFun place but a bit disappointing
We had heard good things about Clancy’s and wanted to try it. We even spent quite a lot to Uber to and from the restaurant. So, we were a bit disappointed that the meal was not tastier. We really enjoyed the frog legs appetizer. Then we both ordered the veal Annunciation—veal schnitzel over creamy pasta. There was little seasoning on the breading, and because it sat atop the wet cream sauce, the schnitzel became soggy on the bottom. The restaurant was busy and the service was fine. But it missed a wow factor we got other places.

This wonderful neighborhood restaurant was a delight after a day at the New Orleans Book Festival opening night. It was pretty loud, but that’s likely because it was packed with large groups of friends and families celebrating special occasions. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was professional while friendly. We walked the charming uptown neighborhood after dinner and were greeted by friends out on front porches - great experience all the way.

The food and service were very good. I would definitely recommend a visit. A nice change of pace from the restaurants on the French Quarter.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive but delicious
Very good food and service. It is definitely a splurge place since it is pricey but we felt we got our money's worth and it was enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Meal in New Orleans!
Amazing experience start to finish! We were warmly greeted and immediately seated (had a reservation). Our server was wonderful and his recommendations were on point. Our drinks, appetizers, main dishes and desserts were expertly prepared and presented. It was a great night and I can't think of anything that would have made it better!
Be the first to ReplyClancy's: Not up to expectations
Our meal at this restaurant began well, but, in the end, did not live up to expectations. We wanted to try three appetizers, and our waiter suggested two half orders (shrimp remoulade and charred oysters with brie) and a full order (veal sweetbreads). All were delicious, particularly the sweetbreads, which were unique in my experience. For our mains, we had a fish special, grilled trout over shrimp and crabmeat, and veal with crabmeat and bearnaise sauce. The fish was excellent, but the veal was very ordinary, and not particularly flavorful. They only brought one of the two desserts we ordered. We had the ice box pie, which was great. The other dessert they brought was the Budino, not the Bananas Foster we ordered . I did not discover this until too late.

I’ve eaten at Clancy’s many times but this trip won the prize. The food was awesome. As good as I’ve had in a long time. Several folks including myself had the soft shell crab. It was so good. Great wine and service as always. You never feel like you’re among tourists. Lots of locals. Will go here every trip to New Orleans.
Be the first to ReplyClassic New Orleans
Classic New Orleans restaurant with great food, great ambience and experienced waiters. started off with a Sazerac cocktail, had the sweetbread appetizer and had as an entree the grilled pompano that is a staple on the menu. All great.
Be the first to ReplyAlways Great
We visit New Orleans several times a year always make Clancy’s our first reservation. They have a great wine menu that features an excellent selection of white burgundies. The sautéed fresh fish of the day with lump crabmeat is just about as good as it gets every time! Their Homemade (rum raisin) ice cream is hard to beat as a dessert. Julie is one of those special waitresses that knows the menu by heart, can talk wine and is always welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food
We had a large group dinner and everyone left in great spirits and with a full belly. Lots of menu items ordered which allowed us to share bites with others and the food did not disappoint! The gumbo was raved about and it’s hands down best gnocchi I’ve ever had!!! I’ll be dreaming of it for weeks.

Great, excellent service with wonderful food. Enjoyed eating at a table outside while watching folks enter and exit restaurant. Food was outstanding, from aps to full course. I also like the fact that the menu changes every weekend. Fried eggplant was out of this world
Be the first to ReplyUptown & upscale with good dinner and nice atmosphere
Uptown restaurant with good food. Fried trout, veal chop were well done and tasty. Service was mixed, many people filling water glasses but no one ever came back after the food was delivered to see if everything was OK or if we needed anything. Rather expensive, upscale, nice setting but attention to customer needs was lacking.
Be the first to ReplySimple not a Place for a Tourist
It’s been a couple of weeks since we ate here and it was fun, but reader be clear, if you are a tourist this place may not be for you, as it is super snobby. The hostess was very nice, the barman had his nose in the air preferring to serve faces he recognized. The “Lindsey Graham” impersonator was our waiter and he tried to be nice but couldn’t quite help himself looking down on us. I laugh inside, knowing that my taste level far exceeds that of anyone in the place with a long history in the business knowing what is right and wrong. This inside dining area is small with tables relatively close together creating a crowded feeling and fortunately we were able to eat outside which was the one thing that made our night. The eggplant fritters were fun and delicious and pleased we ordered them as the sweetbread starter was the worst version of this dish I have ever eaten (hence the review). I love sweetbreads and have made it many times and ordered it 100’s times in restaurants across the world, and these were not fresh, or at least I must question why there was unpleasant musky taste. I believe the chef might have known that as they arrived smothered, capital letters, in Remoulade. Either way the dish is ill- conceived as all the other ingredients had one goal being to eliminate the sweetbreads themselves. The dish arrived with five lumps of sweetbreads for $20 with the tax. My softshell crab and crawfish were good, but the side garnishes were weak, scarcely remembering what they were. My friend’s flat chicken was a dish one really cannot mess up. I would have liked to have a dessert as I love them, but the menu was far from inspiring. I noticed on their website they don’t have a sample dessert menu of any kind. As a dessert is very much part of a meal this is true failing for a place trying to serve good food. Hey, Chef you can’t quit after the main course! Similarly, with a simple request for an expresso, the answer is NO. They served brewed coffee with chicory, which the world knows is the cheapskates was of making a little coffee last longer. I didn’t mind the money I pay, never do, but considering the services offered management needs to wake up, its 2022, starting with getting a coffee machine and have a staff meeting. “You never know you will come into our restaurant and all customers should be treated equally”, would be my opening line. …. FYI. the spaetzle on their frontpage of your website photo with the nice-looking veal chop are burnt.
Be the first to ReplyService takes a hit
The food here is 5-stars, the service is uneven at best. Let’s start with the food: everything we ordered was great. The pork chop was one of the best ever. The gumbo was amazing. The red fish was flavorful. The main detractor was the service. We didn’t get a wine menu or appetizer order for 15-20 minutes after we sat down. The server then seemed to forget part of the order at one point and disappeared for long periods of time. Very unusual based on reading other reviews here.

I hadn’t been to Clancy’s in years. It was so refreshing to see it open and thriving as if nothing happened the last two years. Excellent service, wonderful ambiance, great food throughout. There were no weaknesses. There was a delay between the appetizers and the entree but the entrees were so good that it was literally worth the wait. The oysters with Brie, the gnocchi with mushrooms and fresh peas with a lemon sauce were both outstanding and allowed us to take advantage of the wonderful fresh warm bread. The puppy drum, with mash potatoes, topped with celery salad was done to perfection. Likewise, the chicken breast with sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts was perfect. My wife got the peppermint and chocolate sauce ice cream and was delighted…I don’t like peppermint. I hope yo make this a regular stop. There’s obviously lots of pride and care in the kitchen at Clancy’s. Highly recommended and worth the ride.

A friend recommended Clancy's to us and we made reservations for Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. There were people outside waiting but we were immediately seated for our 8 o'clock table. The look and vibe told us right away that this place has been successful for a good reason. Our waiter was Peter and it was clear that he was a professional. He was both entertaining and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is energetic and bordering on loud but conversation was not strained. Peter recommended a rose' for my wife and I started with an Old Fashioned less sweet than normal. She liked her choice and had a second glass with dinner. My drink was perfect; not watered down but still very cold. I had a cabernet by the glass for dinner. The wine list is extensive and leans to very expensive wines, but by the glass choices are good and reasonably priced. I had the Fried Oysters with Brie and they were heavenly. My wife chose the Boston salad and it was delicious. She was planning to order another appetizer as her entree' but Peter offered her the option of half size entree'. She chose the Risotto with Lobster and Mushrooms and she wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Double Cut Pork Chop. Wow! It was two inches thick, amazingly seasoned, and perfectly cooked and juicy. We were too full for dessert and were pleasantly surprised that there was no sticker shock with the bill. Clancy's definitely joins our favorites list.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal food and service
First time visit to the restaurant with the family. A huge number of choices for starters, salads and entree’s. We had starters of eggplant, meatballs, and oysters. All were excellent. For entrees, roasted chicken, pork chops, and lobster risotto were great. Huge servings. Steve and his team did a great job taking care of us. The only negative was we were seated in the room just past the bar, next to a table with two very loud, obnoxious women that did not have an “inside voice”. Should have asked to be moved to another area of the restaurant, but the restaurant was full and probably would not have been able to move.

We went to this restaurant on our first day here. The location is in a house like so many nice restaurants in Nola. I had the best fish here on the whole trip and I had a lot of fish. It was the flavor and the texture of the pompano that made if so delicious. Would definitely eat here again.
