Well worth it for the food - yum! We visited The Cinnamon
Well worth it for the food - yum! We visited The Cinnamon Club on our first night in London (must have reservations). Everything was delicious. For Americans, and especially southerners, the portion sizes are huge so feel comfortable ordering 2 small plates/starters if you want variety. The aubergine was my favorite of the starters - smoky, sweet, crisp GF batter, and perfectly tender inside. The chicken breast was really flavorful and cooked to perfection. Drinks were just okay. They're supposed to have a gin and tonic cart, but when I asked for it, a pre made cocktail showed up to the table. It seemed most diners opted for a la carte rather than the tasting menu option. Ambiance is also incredibly unique; the restaurant is in a magnificent old library filled with high ceilings of books. A lot of the walls are mirrored and make the room look even more grand and spacious. The restaurant is on a very quiet street at night and easy to miss. Service... this is where there were misses and confusion that drop my review to 4 stars. First, we arrived about 5 min early for our reservation. The host walked us to the downstairs bar; he was very friendly and we chatted for a few minutes before he left us with our drinks. 20 min went by without updates and so we asked the bar host, who then checked the computer, went upstairs, came back, and told us our table is ready. Our server seemed nonchalant at best. The food came out pretty quickly but there was very limited friendly interaction. And finally, the state of the restroom was more of what you'd expect in a bus station than a fine dining establishment. Eek. But its worth looking past these things - the flavors are truly excellent and some of the most delicious modern Indian dishes I've ever had.

I loved the cinnamon club! It is in an old library so you are surrounded by walls of books and it is so cool. The food itself was amazing, very flavorful, unique and creative combinations of flavors. Lots of vegetarian options, even had a vegetarian tasting menu. Very attentive service. Definitely check out if you're looking for a fun and fancy dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed the atmosphere very much in the old library.
The service was excellent. Food was very flavorful. we had the seasonal tasting menu which was plenty of food. Enjoyed the wine pairings and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable.
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere is beautiful, yet lacking.
Yes, there are a lot of books, but it doesn't feel like a library in any way -- none of that cosy feel. The downstairs with the facilities was terribly under-maintained. I don't mean it wasn't clean, but the finishes were truly worn out visually and effectively. The introduction to service was wonderful -- very attentive. This decreased greatly as meal progressed and when it came time for the bill, we twice had to get up and seek someone out. There were approximately 5 different people serving us which also made things difficult, as we did not feel watched over by anyone in particular. The mains were fabulous, no question. The cocktails were uninspiring as they tried so hard to be inspiring, and I had to amend mine with a few ingredients brought from the bar to make the thing potable. The desserts were so awful sounding, that despite it being my son's 20th birthday, we skipped this course. We dine frequently on fine food, but/and this trend of trying so hard to use unusual or "surprising" ingredients is getting annoying. Using strong savory notes in a dessert is off-putting. If I wanted a non-sweet finish, I'd order one. Cumin and saffron, for example, do not belong in desserts. I just now looked and it appears that in the last 3 weeks they have fully changed their dessert offerings and have moved away from this nonsense, so that is good.I don't know. As I say, the food was good, but somehow the whole evening was *less* than the sum of its parts.
Be the first to ReplyVery good, a la carte.
.."Bollyflower", Rajathani sangri beans, black lentils, tandoori bread.

From the moment we walked in, we were treated like the only guests in the restaurant. The food was a treat and we both never regretted our choices. It was lunch time and there was quite a bit of conversation, but it was not distracting. Comfortable seating. I have nothing negative to say about this experience.

Took 30 minutes from sitting to get our first round of drinks.Food was good, servers were nice and apologetic. Cool ambience with the library. Glad we got to check it out, but they were clearly overbooked. For the price I feel like I may have enjoyed myself more at other options in the city.

Lies about closing times walked 30 min for them to close at 10:19 when it clearly says 11. Hope they have a day, hold the goodness.
Be the first to ReplySlow service.
Dishes were small but tasty. Cocktails are ok. The library setting was nice.

I highly recommend the tasting menu, we tried the seasonal fall one and it did not disappoint. We loved the books lining the walls but would have liked to see a little blurb about the history/inspiration somewhere on the menu but I guess I can always google it. Overall winning combo of good food and service, can't go wrong.
Be the first to ReplyMy colleague and I had a fascinating discussion about
My colleague and I had a fascinating discussion about conservation in India this morning, which led us to a discussion even more fascinating about the history of European colonialism and the British Empire. Hence why the fancy dinner here. Housed in a former red-brick library near Westminster Cathedral and the House of Commons, The Cinnamon Club is, quite simply, an exquisite affair. In a throwback to its former self, the walls are lined with neatly organized books, and the ceilings are magnificently high, providing an airy and bright atmosphere in which to enjoy their splendid far-eastern fare. Brainchild of Iqbal Wahab and a firm contender in the running for London's best upmarket Indian restaurant, this Asian delight is one to add to your bucket list. Famed for its contemporary Indian dishes and its upmarket yet unpretentious atmosphere, The Cinnamon Club features a formal dining room in which to enjoy a plate of enticing Char-grilled halibut with Kerala curry sauce or a delectable saffron poached pear with tapioca and lime payasam. If, however, you're only here to sample a carefully curated cocktail with a bit of oomph, head to the basement bar, a smaller space adorned with arches and plush, corner sofas that give it a more intimate feeling. Make yourself at home at the bar or cuddle up in a secluded corner and explore the exotic drinks menu that features an array of Indian-inspired tipples as well as a select number of the classics. Dive into the deep end and wrap your lips around The Garden of Tea, an intoxicating muddle of Jindea, Darjeeling, dried lemon, yuzu bitters, and lemon vermouth. If you're in the mood to sip on something sparkling, make sure to order a Cinnamon Bellini, an exhilarating brew of cinnamon liqueur, cinnamon tea, and a generous serving of Prosecco. Your taste buds will have a lovely orgasm.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I visited here in January 2020.
We walked in without a reservation and were seated after a brief but highly enjoyable wait at the downstairs bar. For dinner we shared an order of the paneer, I had the Tandoori chicken, and my husband had the lamb. Everything was fantastic and paired well with the cocktails. The service also stood out from many other experiences we had in London-- very attentive but not overwhelming. Will definitely be back on our next trip!

Exquisite food, beautiful place but service is quite disappointing which downgrades the whole experience. Waited 20 minutes to order then another good 20-25 minutes to get starters. And it's been almost an hour now since we were seated and I don't see any food in front of me. The food is great but the truth of the matter is that there's just too many other Michelin starred restaurants out there that are capable to match their service to the quality of food.

Food was incredible, atmosphere was unbelievable, service was 9/10. I wish we would have been in the main dining area, so I might just have to go back and request it!

What a lovely place! A bit hard to find at first because the outside of the establishment gets lost in an office-looking like building and the front entrance is dark and no one was there when we arrive making us think we entered the wrong place or it was closed. Other than that, the entire dining experience from first to last bite was excellently delicious. A perfect first meal to kick off a UK trip :)
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere and service.
Very good lamb. We also loved the chicken leg starter as well. Overall a great dining experience in London
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant can't give an accurate wait time.
We had to wait an hour past our reservation time with constant promises of "a few more minutes". The bar also never delivered a drink I ordered.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite Indian restaurant on this trip to the UK!
My favorite Indian restaurant on this trip to the UK! Setting is book-lined Victorian library - cozy club nice atmosphere! Great service was experienced from the funny maitre'd that welcomed us with a charming English humor to our excellent waiter! Food was of course the star attraction! Starters garlic naan with delicious curry sauce and Tandoori octopus with chutney aloo, fennel salad with tomato dressing lemon dressing. I had the Shrimp crusted coley fillet with green curry sauce and basmati rice and a side of Aloo Gobi (stir fried potato and cauliflower) to share. Hubby had Tandoori free range chicken with onion crust, pickling sauce, toasted buckwheat and brown lentils. Our son had Tamil style butternut squash in garlic confit curry and Gobindobhog kichiri. Everything was nicely presented and delicious! Alas no room for dessert!
Be the first to ReplyUpscale Indian restaurant in the heart of Westminster.
The food is spectacular, ambience is very nice, but service is a little lacking for such a nice restaurant. Two for dinner - arrived early and had a drink in the main floor bar. Nice setting in the library with walls covered in book shelves. Service was prompt and the drinks well made. Food - superb. The Indian flair applied to some traditionally non-Indian dishes was magnificent. The venison was perfectly cooked and rested on a splash of curry. Similar perfection with the chick over lentils. We had a bottle of Argentine Malbec that went well with both dishes. The wine list is extensive.Atmosphere - upscale. The restaurant is in the old Westminster library. Very interesting location and ambience. Service - Ordering took a bit longer than it should have. We also stared at empty plates for a bit too long for such an establishment. We had rotating servers that made it hard to follow who to request service from. They lost a star on the service.Price - its pricey, but expected in such a nice restaraunt. We spent £200 on dinner for two.Note - they have a tasting menu that looked spectacular. The table next to us was eating it. The price is steep at £180 per person, but the level of detail in each dish, the wine parings and the significant wine pours looked worth it.
Be the first to ReplyPOOR and PRETENTIOUS customer service.
Despite of being explicitly included in the reservations instructions that the dinner was for my mothers 70th bday AND being reminded again as I checked into the restaurant asking them for candles on whatever dessert - No one cared to follow through; no candles even after asking a 3rd and 4th time. Finally when I got up and stared to get upset a huffy waiter brought out candles after 10 mins. If you're going to pretend to be a restaurant that looks like a place for special occasions- you need to deliver. Sad and so disappointed - I chose the wrong place!! that FAILED to help me make it a memorable night for my family.
