Alfieโs is the star of the street!
I was blown away by Alfies Antique Market on Church Street. Its full of impressive art deco lamps, a lot of them imported from Paris! Across from Alfies I slso found some really good vintage furniture shops specialising in mid-century furniture.

Went to this market to buy seafood and found what I needed at great prices. I will definitely keep going back on a weekly or biweekly basis. The fish shop near me was charging ยฃ42 for a kilo for prawns and they charged me ยฃ20 for a sea bass filet. At the Church St market, the prawns were like ยฃ12 a kilo and the sea bass was like ยฃ5. Definitely worth it to walk to Church Street!! Although I wasnโt looking to buy produce, it looked so good and was priced really well so I got great tasting strawberries that were big and beautiful! I also got great oranges and radishes. The market also has all sorts of clothes and other goods. Overall, a great find, Iโll definitely go back.

Nice, appealing market... you can every now and then find really cheap brand new stuff and clothing as cheap as one pound! I bought outstanding original clothes for one, two and three pounds when any of the items woth 20 to 50 pounds!๐ฎ Overall it is worth visiting ๐

Lots of market stalls on church street selling fruit and veg to clothes, it is really nice to see. Plenty of antique shops on the street as well.
Be the first to ReplyVery pleasantly surprised this Saturday
I haven't been down here on a Saturday for maybe 20 years and I have to say it was really vibrant and impressive with many more stalls than during the week and it did not have any of the down at heel air that I have seen before. There are some great food stalls as well as household goods, clothing, shoes. I found the Clay Grill to be excellent and in fact there are 2 or 3 cafes that look really good plus quite a few 'antique' and interior design shops at the Eastern end. If you like this market then give Ridley Road a visit too.

Stumbled upon purely by accident when walking back to station from cricket ground. What attracted me was seeing market stalls as I am a lover of local markets. The street is a strange mix with numerous antique shops at the top end before you come to the market. The area as a large arabic influence which adds to the colour and atmosphere of the area. I then stopped at a market stall that cooks all manner of fish on a barbeque. Place was run by the Pegasus brothers as the sign said and I had the most lovely full sea bass with rice and salad all for six pounds. You sit outside in what really is a large open sided tent with so many differing nationalities that just adds to the experience. The fish restaurant reminded me of my many visits to Lisbon, Market itself is a mix of fruit and veg, fabrics and bick a bat. Area not great but an experience.

Church Street is an old part of town from a simpler time. There are antique shops here with lovely pubs and beautiful flowers. The Church Street Market located here also provides visitors with a lively and friendly experience. The market here with over 200 traders sell a variety of products like fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, household items and clothing.
Be the first to ReplyAntiques & art & friendly traders!
I live in the area and have started to visit Church Street on a regular basis. It is a forgotten gem in central London with a diverse selection of high-quality antiques and arts on display! Not only are the people in the shops really friendly, they each have their own niche from selling marvelous and grand chandeliers to small garden statues. After perusing the street, only a stones throw away did I find myself in a Kurdish restaurant sipping on a local recipe - Kubbeh. The day was a real delight and really recommended

Walk this street and you'll be in the company of everyday Londoners out about their business. This being a middle eastern area of the city, there is much aimed at that ethnic group--groceries, clothing, etc. You'll also see plenty of fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, and household items for sale. One of the surprise attractions along the street is a fabric store that sells very high end fabrics, including to the royals. It's a treat to walk through.
