Had a great dinner at Chez Michel.
Highly recommend. The lengua and the fish soup were both excellent.

The food was expensive and they decided to not take credit cards. It ended up being an awful experience.

We came here, however, to detox from all the sex. Chez Michel, a popular bistro just steps from the Gare du Nord, is an ideal spot for a meal, just as you are leaving Paris, or from a celebratory return to the city. There's much to love about this small, classic bistro. Chef-owner Thierry Breton clearly knows who he is and what he wants, and offers impeccable ingredients on his menu. Katie and I enjoyed some wild boar, duck breast, beets, and Brussel sprouts; then finished the evening/early morning with rice pudding and three poached pears served with walnuts and a colorful mix of almonds, dried fruits, and honey. Rich, but just a tiny bit satisfies the soul. Clearly, we love to eat French food. Tomorrow is our last full day in Paris. We'll keep you posted about our final trek, but for now we head back to the hotel for an hour or so of passionate love making. Side note: Pretty sure we broke a steal-reinforced bed the other night. Oops.Addendum. As Katie and I were walking back to our hotel, we came across a street fight. Two men, early 20s, one American, one French. As the story goes, the American thought the Frenchman had been hitting on his girlfriend. All he did, however, was hand back her purse when she dropped it on the floor of a nearby café. The American beat up the Frenchman so bad that the Frenchman had to be taken to hospital. A man assaulted another man because of a kind gesture. I have seen childish behavior like this in places like Prineville (Oregon), but it embarrasses me to see it on the global stage. Reminds me of a kid named Jacob K that I know.

Five stars for the amazing fish soap that the potion could feed 2 people as the full meal. The soup came with second /third / forth servings in an urn / jug that kept the soup warm too. We also opt for the wild abalone that was a 12 euro supplement to the pre-fixe meal. The abalone was prepared to the perfection and was extremely fresh. Main course we had the cod dish that many yelpers raved about. Cod was very fresh, with a delish broth at the bottom. Dessert was definitely the highlight. The Paris Brest was divine!!!Restaurant was cozy and authentic with French couples seating around us on date nights. Service last night was slower but was amazing overall.

The ideal French bistro adding some flare to traditional recipes. Fish soup (5/5) - not only is it hearty portions poured by the pitcher, it is extremely flavorful with huge umami added by the Parmesan cheese in an u likely combinationVeal blanquette (4.5/5) - very good modern rendition with less of a thick sauce and more of a foam. I've had it only done better once but this was a very strong contender.Service is fast and attentive. They have English menus and speakers. Would come back given the quality and the reasonable fixed price

Be the first to ReplyAuthentic and spacious location.
The staff was lovely, competent and were patiently answering each question about the dishes on the menu (blackboard).Once the order is placed the food will be served pretty shortly thereafter. My dishes (starter/makn/dessert) were extraordinary! Quite happy about my evening @Chez Michel-Did have a glass of solid house wine with it, so that's why I can't assess the quality of their wine card.

- They speak English + have an English menu- Great service, very friendly- You can make a reservation through Google if your French is terrible like mine and don't want to call them- The 3-course meal will make you VERY full- Interesting choice of Comic Sans as a font for their menu....Came here for dinner while staying in Gare du Nord. I enjoyed everything I had here (minus the escargot they give you as an appetizer, just not an escargot fan). I got the 3-course prefix meal and I was about to burst at the end of the meal and actually couldn't finish my dessert. While I had no complaints about the taste of the food, I think it's better to order a la carte because the 3-course meal might be too much and it's around 39/39 Euros per person, which isn't exactly cheap.Very friendly staff and they have an English menu (although they used Comic Sans as the font, which was...interesting). I loved the bouillabaisse + the bone marrow!
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant filled with locals.
The basement tables located in old wine cellar was really unique. The asparagus risotto was the best dish we ordered.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for dinner with my husband.
We had three course dinner (38 € dinner prefixes). I was excited to have our NYE dinner at Chez Michel. We got there few minutes before our reservation. There were a lot of tables open, but we got seated at the corner of the restaurant where it was darker and colder. For drinks we got beer and tap water. For starters, my husband and I each ordered chanterelle fricasses and country pate. For entree, we got flank steak and some beef/pork broth (I forgot the name and I also forgot to take pictures of our main entrees). For dessert, we ordered Paris Brest and Panna cotta. The starter and entree were mediocre at best. It didn't taste like what I expected, and I did not quite finish my meal. I could not finish half of my starter. However, the desserts were amazing. Both of them were fantastic and affirmed me that France is indeed the best country to get good pastry. I am giving 3 stars total despite our underwhelming experience with seating and food because the service was nice and desserts were amazing. The price came out to be around 100 € total, and I don't think the whole experience/food was worth it. Hopefully we will have better experience if we visit here again.

The 3-course prix fixe menu was fantastic, and a great value. The starters (duck terrine, foie gras terrine) were delightful. For mains, I had the boar bolognese (rich and meaty, paired with a red wine), and my companion got the bream (much lighter, in a creamier sauce). Came to around 60pp including wines, additions and coffee, but was the best meal of our trip. Would recommend and return.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent small French restaurant.
Great appetizers, meat dishes, and of course wine! Given the quality, really inexpensive. If you want to experience good quality authentic French food, this is a great choice.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best French restaurant in my trip of Paris.
The picture tells everything.
