Food and service were amazing.
We both had the veal and the portions were more than generous
People love this place.
We didn't. I mean it's fine, don't get me wrong. Overpriced, over hyped, it's good--not great. Certainly not worth the effort and energy to eat there.
Very good quality food.
Service is busy yet efficient. Honey atmosphere adds to the experience. Staff very engaging.
Had dinner their last night, just my wife & myself.
We arrived about 15 minutes early and when I walked up to a man holding an I Pad he was not what I expected. He did not smile & he just looked at me. ok not a great start i was thinking. We waited outside for our reservation time. We were shown to the fireplace room and had the table in front of the fireplace which was perfect!!!! Anthony came over & immediately won us over...this is what i expected!!!! Hospitality over the top. he was not only friendly, but very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. The food was off the charts we shared an appetizer & then pasta which we were able to split the sauces. My wife had the best crab cakes ever & I had the chicken ribetta. We finished with a cheesecake & a peanut butter chocolate pie. Food & service had to be one of my best experiences and I am in the hospitality business. I made the reservation a month in advance but was confirmed right away. I will say upon leaving and walking through the porch where people were seated may have changed my dining experience for me. I do not like crowded spaces or people too close to me. that is a personal preference. We are from Long Island and visit AC a few times a year & would love to return. The food & of course Anthony made this s night to remember!!!

We have been going to Chef Volas for about 20 years, and I just happened to check yelp for the ratings. Wow! I'm shocked they are a "4". We just ate there again, and again it was a 5, IMHO. Lou sat us quickly and in just the spot we always request, up on the patio which is quiet enough to have a special meal. Lou is very meticulous with how he runs his team, setting a very high bar for customer service. The Veal Milanese was fresh/ crispy and perfectly done and the fresh salad and home made pasta outstanding. Our server Justina was fantastic, enthusiastic, friendly and tireless in trying to make our meal experience perfect.
Amazing, server name?
Great service! Food was delicious, we got the chicken parm, eggplant parm, and speghitti and meat balls. The entire building was really Cool! We had an AMAZING waiter. He was young, dark hair, in his 20s, and built. Please let me know if anyone remembers his name!
Nice dining experience last night at this restaurant.
Greeted at the door & brought to a table set upstairs by fireplace. Really gave feeling you were having dinner at a relative's. Service was excellent with everyone being pleasant & upbeat. The food was superb. My wife said it was best Sea Bass she has ever had. My entree was veal, eggplant & prosciutto. We shared penne with bolognese sauce. It was our 32nd anniversary & our server "Mary" brought us some ice cream to celebrate. Also it is a BYOB. Just a fantastic evening. Highly recommend if you can get a reservation.
I just had a very interesting night at Chef Vola.
I'll try to make this brief. This is my 3rd time here and it gets better every time My girlfriend and I were 25 minutes early but the owner told no problem and seated us immediately . The food and service were incredible as usual but that's a given here . The real reason that I'm doing this review is that my girlfriend felt faint after leaving the restaurant and actually passed out . We think it was the heat . 2 customers immediately called 911 and that same owner ran out to help . He was obviously concerned and stayed with us until an ambulance came . He couldn't have been nicer and I owe him a big thanks. My girlfriend is ok and thanks go out to the 2 woman who helped us and the wonderful owner who stayed by our side . We'll be back , assuming I can get a reservation.
My wife & I lived locally and visited Chef Vola's probably
My wife & I lived locally and visited Chef Vola's probably 30 times! Never had a bad meal always excellent or outstanding. Yes it's hard to get a reservation but it's worth it! We now live in Fl but when visiting in the area we always eat there! We even travel from Westchester NY to Atlantic City if we can get a reservation. Personally the veal chop on the bone & crab cakes are my favorite but all the dishes, pasta, salads and desserts are top notch. A visit is well worth it!
My brother told me this was one of the best meals in AC.
I found that hard to believe bc there are so many solid dining spots in the AC area. He was right and I have been here twice now. I took my wife and friends here and they were blown away by the dining experience. The food is top notch. The service is always solid. And the vibe is always right. It's always a fun dining experience!
Outstanding Italian Cuisine in AC
The only thing that is better than the delicious food at Chef Volaโs is the service. The menu is filled with a great assortment of appetizers and entrees, and the dessert options are exceptional. Shout out to Noah for his exceptional service and thank you to the owners for an amazing experience.
The best meal in Atlantic City and all of New Jersey
This is the best restaurant I have been to anywhere in New Jersey. My meal stated with a great salad. It was followed by two pasta appetizers, one blush and one while clam. I then had a fantastic veal chop parmigiana. This was the best veal chop I have ever had anywhere in the US. For dessert we had Momma's homemade cheesecakes. The service is excellent and is only outdone by the quality of the food. I would highly recommend this establishment. Don't be put off by its exterior. It is in an old house.
business dinner
another great meal at CV. Outstanding service, enormous portions, everything delicious. Crab Cakes are off the chart, outstanding veal parm, chicken scarpeillo was amazing as well. we all got to share our entries, which they gladly portion for you if you designate who else at the table you want to share with. I will mention the service again, absolutely first rate. One of the owners came by and we had a very engaging conversation as well. If you can get in try this place, it won't disappoint.
Anniversary Dinner at Chef Volas
We had a great time at Chef Volas. I must say reservations were tough to get but well worth it . The two of us had dinner for 7:30 with our waiter was Anthony. I must say do at all means ask for him to be your waiter you will not regret it. The appetizer list is long with hot and cold choices but the part we enjoyed the most was how Anthony described each dish from appetizers to main course right to dessert all very correct and outstanding . I can say you will want to try all after you hear him describe them with so much passion into each dish. Chef Volas should be a must for everyone coming into AC. Outstanding food and atmosphere. A real home feeling.
Relying on past reputation
After hearing such great things about Chef Volas over the years, I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to try it for myself. Unfortunately, it was the ultimate letdown- it was horrible. Anthony our server as absolutely fabulous, but the food was bad, and I wound up with N/V/D the rest of the night. Appetizer hailed as burrata was actually just a run of the mill flavorless mozzarella. My friendโs Chilean Sea Bass (which she has ordered here multiple times in the past and RAVED about it) came out soggy, tasting like it was way past its prime- very fishy and old. My lamb was cooked perfectly, but the cut was also not fresh. The Dijon โsauceโ tasted like Dijon mustard straight out of the jar- hardly a delicate sauce. The coffee and dessert were fabulous, but did not make up for the overall horrible dinner. We are thinking that the restaurant is relying on cheaper ingredients to off set costs during this time of increasing prices for the best products, and they are relying on their past reputation to keep them afloat. Thankfully the Mainline snob croud are sheeplike people and will keep going there despite the declining quality.
Undercooked chicken
If your trying to catch E-coli, this is the place for it. 1/3 of table ordered the chicken parm, and all patrons ended up sick that night. Doubled over.
Waste of Time.
I called 2 months in advance to make my reservation. It was my 47th wedding anniversary. My husband also called and I tried one more time. We both felt it would have been kinder and nicer of them if they would have let us know we would be dining there. Weโve dined there many times before and have told many of our friends to go there. This restaurant is not worth it and weโre not planning on ever going back.
LOVE THIS PLACE
the best owner , staff , food in AC A must when you visit AC. I grew up in my grandparents Italian restaurant on the jersey shore and know a great place like this one is a find. The eggplant and veal are my favorites.

My experience is that when you leave a message for a reservation, if they do not know you they do not give you the courtesy of a return phone call.
Perfection from start to finish!
I grew up in the area and dining at Chef Volaโs has been on my bucket list. This special family restaurant has been around for ages. At one point you had to know someone to get a reservation. But now you can make a reservation! It may take a bit because this fine establishment is something special. From the outstanding SERVICE, to the huge portions of heaven sent dinners. Hubby, and my good friends had a wonderful night. Everything was perfect!!! I wanted to impress this couple since they have been so good to us. They were just as impressed as we were. Thank you Chef Volaโs! You made it well worth the wait!

Very disappointed! I went there with 7 people from out of town and was embarrassed. They Used to have as much in quality as the quantity they served. Not even close! Bolognese sauce was watery. Spaghetti e vongole was more like clam soup! And the chicken Milanese was like cardboard. The only thing that was more than expected was the bill! The novelty of the house basement and no address does not make up for the sub standard Italian food. If you're planning on going to Chef Vola's I suggest that you just drive past it. BTW..I told the waiter how bad the chicken was and all I got was, I'm sorry, would you like another! You've got to be kidding!!
Service and food absolutely amazing.
Would suggest it to anyone visiting Atlantic City!
Food is always delicious.
And we had a wonderful waitress! We never sat at the patio before and I definitely prefer that to the basement. I love the clams in oil and garlic. Can't wait to go back.

While the food was of course excellent, the service was really what made the experience special. Stevie was outstanding. Welcoming from the jump, patient in explaining all of the menus offerings as well as his personal preferences if we were undecided, and he and the whole team were so attentive throughout our whole meal. He even had the staff and restaurant sing happy birthday to our mom when they brought out dessert. A special experience, and a lifetime family memory.
Sooo overrated
EXTREMELY overrated. If you haven given this 3-5 stars you donโt know Italian food. Prices are outrageous for the quality and favor of food you get. My weekly Sunday dinners blow this place out of the water. If this place wasnโt so hard to get a reservation nobody would go.
Top notch in all aspects.
Servers were attentive and super helpful. Food was amazing. Would go back every night if I could.
Outstanding.
Bravo Just perfect from the service thru to dessert. Simply the best! I'll keep coming back always
Wish we went to Olive Gardenโฆ.
Having tried to book multiple times by phone prior to arriving in Atlantic city with no joy, we were delighted to get a table on the day. Bread was very good and unfortunately that is where it all went downhill. Our waitress took our order just after 5pm from a great looking menu. Other guests arrived and were seated with orders taken. Others food came was eaten and desserts offered. My wife and I waited almost an hour for our food. No explanation and a weak apology offered, our food was average at best. One house salad was missed from the order. We paid full price an left without bothering to order the famous banana cream pie. Extremely dissatisfied with service and food, I would even go as far as saying that Olive Garden has better chicken parm. Volaโs has an air of exclusivity to which it most certainly doesnโt live up to.
One of my favorite restaurants Amazing food and service
One of my favorite restaurants Amazing food and service We frequent there often and it never disappoints
I highly recommend this restaurant for some of the best
I highly recommend this restaurant for some of the best food I have ever had at an italian restaurant. It's more like eating at grandma's house. My favorite. Entry is definitely the red snapper.Jumbo lump crab meat in a pesto congac cream sauce. I highly recommend trying the. Sampler of gravies. One thing that I don't do at any other restaurant that I do here is make sure I save room for dessert. They have the most amazing homemade desserts. Bon appetit!!!
Best food this side of Italy
Recently went to Chef Volas with my wife for dinner and as usual we were never disappointed. Lou and his staff greeted us upon arrival and it felt like a long lost family member. The meal was delicious as always and our Waite staff was fantastic. Gianna our waitress was courteous and friendly and made us feel relaxed and happy . If you get a chance to get to Atlantic City skip the hotel restaurants get your self to Chef Volas for a truly spectacular meal with terrific service.
A Really Excellent Experience
We have been going here for 18 years. Nothing changes. Food is amazing, staff is excellent, service is above and beyond. Portions are hugh. Prices are on the high end and but well worth it. We will continue to go when in the area. Take note, it can be a challenge to get a table so call for reservations about 6 to 8 weeks ahead.
Went with friends
We mostly went for the veal parm. This is my favorite thing they have. All the meals are great but I always go back to the veal. Cant beat a bone in pounded veal chop. We had a couple different bottles of wine, itโs BYOB. The deserts are great. Love sitting downstairs. It is a little tight but itโs not a problem. We love this restaurant.
Excellent meal and service.
Place has probably the best veal chop parmesan I've ever had and the linguine with clams is absolutely amazing as well. Can't go wrong with just about anything else either but those two dishes are just top notch
Outstanding restaurant
Outstanding service (especially Oliva). The entire wait staff was extremely attentive. Food was amazing. Everything was ala carte. The portions were huge. Desserts were delicious. Worth the trip.
My husband and I always make reservations a month in
My husband and I always make reservations a month in advance at Chef Vola's to celebrate our anniversary. We had reservations for 5:00pm downstairs on a Saturday. I remember the conversation with the woman I spoke to on the phone. Well we pay to park, go inside and give our name and phone number. Nothing. They said they do not a reservation for us. The get the manager. Very aggressive and rude. He would really not let me ask any questions. He said if I didn't get a confirmation then the is no reservation Now I am thinking the woman I spoke to never put the reservation through. I went back and looked on my phone and it shows out going call from me and then an hour later the in coming call from Chef Vola's. The manager said that there is really nothing he can do since the boat show was going on and ppl have reservations. Then he said I can seat you but you have to eat really fast. WHAT!! Never mind and we left. Mistakes happen and this is a lesson learned for me to always call back anyplace and confirm. Unfortunately they have great staff service and I like there food but the manager should be ashamed of how he talks to ppl. So we will mot be back. There are many other restaurants in AC/Margate/Ventnor that we can go to.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent even on
The food was amazing and the service was excellent even on Valentines Day! The entrees and the deserts! Wow don't skip desert here!
Food was perfect as usual.
Everything was on point and then some. Our server while I forget his name was amazing looks like Jason Mamora
Best Italian food in tri-state area.
Incredible service, friendly staff. The bone in veal parm is incredible. I'll never eat veal parm anywhere else because it won't top this.
This place is the real deal.
There is very little left of Atlantic City from a century ago, but this gem remains. I absolutely love that they kept the downstairs as cozy as it was in 1921. The bone-in veal parmigiana is every bit as good as you've heard, and the linguine with clams was some of the best I've ever had. We tried a number of desserts and they were all delicious, too. The salad was great and we enjoyed the bufalo mozzarella appetizer. Take it from a South Philly guy: If you love Italian food and are going to AC, this is the spot. Get the veal!
I haven't been here in 30 years and now I just ask
I haven't been here in 30 years and now I just ask WHY???? Delicious! Everything was delicious from the Veal Chop, Steak Special, Tomato prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella appetizer! The service was awesome and our 2 servers were fantastic! Great personalities and very attentive and knowledgeable! Be back VERY soon!
Chef Vola's offers a delightful dining experience that
Chef Vola's offers a delightful dining experience that begins with a simple yet welcoming table starter of bread and oil, alongside delicious garlic bread, setting a promising tone for the meal ahead. The option to bring your own bottle of wine adds a personal touch to the dining experience, allowing guests to pair their favorite wines with their meals. The house salad is a standout, featuring a vibrant mix of romaine lettuce, cheese, banana peppers, red onions, pepperoni, cucumbers, tomatoes, and homemade croutons, all tossed in a tangy red wine vinaigrette. It's a refreshing start that prepares the palate for more indulgent courses to come. The Linguine in Special Ricotta Blush Sauce impresses with its rich, thick sauce, demonstrating the kitchen's ability to elevate classic Italian dishes. The Very Large Veal Parmesan is another highlight, with its generous cutlets, thick breading, and a perfect combination of great sauce and melted cheese, showcasing the care and quality ingredients that go into each dish. Desserts are a must at Chef Vola's, with the warm Apple Ricotta Cheesecake and its accompanying scoop of salted caramel Gelato offering a comforting end to the meal. However, it's the Chilled Banana Cream Pie that truly captivates, with its fantastic flavor making it a memorable finale. While the coffee may be average, the overall dining experience is anything but, thanks to the very attentive staff and the positive atmosphere. Despite the condensed seating, the space feels intimate and welcoming, making it an ideal setting for a great dinner. Chef Vola's proves to be a charming destination for those seeking a cozy ambiance and meticulously prepared Italian cuisine.

In this world of who can outdo who, it's nice to try a throwback in time kind of place to eat. This restaurant has been here forever and it's in a big old house on a street that time forgot in Atlantic city. It's as plain and old fashioned as it gets. It's dimly lit, no decorations, funny old music playing. Let's talk food. Started with the chicken soup. Awesome. Just try it. Split the house salad, very good, not as good as olive garden but still decent. Chicken Parm was great. Chicken cacciatore was also great. Dessert get the lemoncello pie. Insane. If you want wine you can ask and they get it delivered in like 10 minutes from around the corner. Service was great, everyone working there was nice. Clean bathroom. Take someone who loves a throwback to the old days of going out to eat.

Food - excellent Portions - gigantic Waiters and waitresses are very. Food came quick and we were in and out within an hour. I called two weeks in advance to book a Sunday dinner reservation. I left a voicemail and got a call back about 3 days later. The woman who called me back had an unfriendly tone. But whatever maybe she had a bad day. The day before our reservation I called to ask if the restaurant was cash only or accepted credit cards. A man answered this time and also had an unfriendly tone. He told me I should have read the confirmation email... I initially had a bad feeling about this place because of the two rude interactions I had over the phone. However when we came the staff were extremely nice. Food was great. But very pricey. We paid $140 after tax+tip for 2 entrees and dessert. Overall, food was delicious and I'll be back next year for a special occasion -1 star for rude phone interactions -1 star for high prices
Amazing service.
Super nice people. I hate to say it but not good. Been dying to get into this place and walked out so disappointed. I read previous reviews saying there was no flavor. They were right. Linguine w clams tastes like water. No flavor. Veal parm was decent. Blush sauce- meh. Best thing was the red peppers with anchovies. Both of which came out of a can and were plated. Def most flavor of the night. . They were so nice but we walked out of there with 14lbs of stuff that went into the trash. Cool spot. I'm guessing a chef must have changed recently. Still cool experience. BYOB didn't suck. Again- service was exceptional.
Best restaurant Iโve been too !!Bring your favorite bottle of wine
First time here with friends and celebrated my Birthday. We all had a great dinner. The service was outstanding from all workers there. They were very attentive with detailing our orders. The Veal Chop was out of this world good . All the food was outstanding !!! They all sang Happy Birthday and made this night special ๐๐โค๏ธโค๏ธ We will return here again for Sure !!! Special thanks to Mary S. She was nice with the nicest personality !! our main waitress ๐๐
Outstanding Dining Experience
A wonderful dining experience. Delicious dinner with portions large enough to take some home. Our Server Stevie was witty, personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu selections. Good ambience and perfectly selected background music. Extensive dessert menu. Highly recommend Chef Vola's.
