Cecchi's is a difficult reservation to get, for good reason.
The pizzas are some of the best in the Bay Area, particularly in the North Bay. The dough is superb and the pizzas come to the table with a beautifully blistered and charred crust and despite ample toppings, they do not get soggy or limp in the middle. My only complaint is that I wish they had a wider variety of pizzas. My wife and I shared a pepperoni pizza with hot honey and it was delicious if not a bit too salty. The ingredients were first rate and the taste was sensational. The Caesar salad was quite good although a little heavy on the lemon juice. We were celebrating our anniversary and they generously poured us a couple of glasses of an excellent Prosecco. Speaking of wine, their list is extensive, interesting and well priced. We had an absolutely fabulous bottle of Vermentino. Despite the staff being busy as hell, everyone from the host and hostess to our waitress were friendly and engaging. Everyone in the place appeared to be having a great time. The pastas, apps, and other mains besides pizzas looked amazing. Plan ahead and go have a great time.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibe - but then leading to a way to crowded scene.
It gets too loud and we had to shout to have a conversation. Cocktails were great; food were disappointing. NOT A WEDGE - basic STUFFED MUSHROOM - basic SAN GENNARO IN A BLANKET - basic APRICOT GLAZED RIBS - basic CHICKEN À LA KING - chicken pot pie? CALF TONGUE - extremely overcooked, dry, disgusting. WILD STRIPED BASS - basic.

They don't want commoners, which is funny because their food is perfectly common. Obnoxious owner not interested in any semblance of customer service. Unless of course, you are obviously well to do.
Be the first to ReplyI had the best time here.
From the hostess's ensuring I was honored with my request for a corner table to our amazing waiter Anthony, this is one of my new favorite restaurants. I came here of course for the burger which didn't disappoint. Every other dish was wonderful as well especially highly recommend the brussels sprouts which had the most delightful balsamic glaze and the olives were delicious as well. Let's not forget about dessert. We had the apple crisp and the layer cake- both were very tasty. The food was perfection though the highlight was the service. Anthony is a professional in every sense of the word. He ensured we had everything we needed- and his team of busboys always ensured we had our waters refilled. Anthony was also delightful to speak to sharing with us some stories about some high-profile guests. I look forward to having him serve me again in the future.

Lovely space & good food but I've seen managers and bartenders verbally abusing staff to the point that it made me and my party uncomfortable. I also watched a few female staffers visibly uncomfortable with the handsy behavior of a male bus boy. If you've ever worked in a restaurant it's not hard to pick up on toxic atmospheres. This place is loaded.
Be the first to ReplyI was not impressed by the service.
It took so long to take our order. But after the food arrived they kept interrupting us asking if we were finished.
Be the first to ReplyNice space, especially the lighting.
It's like walking into a mix of a European bistro and modernized version of the American Gilded Age. Apparently, everybody was playing into the Mad Men vibe by getting the dirty martini. The food is ok for the most part. Dinner rolls, kind of ridiculous to charge for. Pickles are not bad, but pickling pineapple is a mistake. Lobster bisque is a little rough around the edges, but it grows on you. Beet salad was the best put of all the appetizers, but that requires little to no cooking, so I'll leave it at that. The mains are much better. Porkchop was the best dish of the night. The fish, forget what it was, and that tells you it couldn't have been great. It was just not bad. Service was overall fluid despite the crowd. I want to give this spot a 3.5 stars, but I realize these days that having above average food in NY is getting rarer and rarer. So I'm rounding up.
Be the first to ReplyThe burger and Market Salad were delicious.
The ribs were good too but kind of small to share. Probably wouldn't get those again. We should've gotten our own burger!

Was excited to try this spot out, but immediately upon arrival were greeted by a rude hostess. We were a party of 6 and 5 of us had arrived ~5 minutes early. Our 6th guest had a work emergency and subway issues so was running 10 minutes late. We informed the hostess and asked if we could be seated at our table as the bar area was overcrowded. We were told snarkily that we'd be seated when all 6 of us arrived. We ordered drinks at the bar. 2 of us ordered dirty martinis that were not dirty at all (we actually had to have our waiter bring us a shot glass of olive juice to the table), the third drink didn't arrive. When we inquired about the third drink we were told "you never ordered this". We were also told we had to close out at the bar before being seated. Flash forward two minutes (our 6th person was still en route) and we were told we could be seated and that our drinks COULD be transferred to our table...quite a change of tune in a matter of minutes. On a positive note, the ambience, our waiter Tommy and the manager George were all amazing. The food was so-so, nothing special. Unfortunately, the positives couldn't make up for the overall experience. The restaurant is only 6 months old so I hope they're able to fix some of the kinks, but likely will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyFood is good, but overall the Village bistro lacks "class.
" We were pushed OUT, after 2 hours, following expensif dinner w drinks & brandies. (Front desk is run by freshman girls. Managers of elegance are nowhere). The chef's book, newly published, has gone to his head. For 3-star food, you can do better. (Asked to leave after 2d round of brandies reveals vulgarity herein.)
