Great hidden gem for steaks and seafood!
We stopped off in Aventura on our drive back to Santa Barbara and stumbled across this place. The food was amazing, great value for 4 courses, the food was served quickly and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Couldn't have asked for more. Quite a trendy place, darker decor which we loved - definitely worth a visit!
Be the first to ReplyExtremely Unprofessional Rude Classelss Management and Service
I have NEVER experienced this low of level of Management & Service EVER at a restaurant! The lack of class and professionalism is mind bending! It starts at the top! The owner Jan Schuster! I saw her responses to the similar terrible reviews and she takes the side of her employee's and blames the customer rather than take responsibility for the unacceptable behavior of her staff and rude treatment of her customers! This is the lowest of the low! I went here about a month ago and although the food was good, the service was so rude and dismissive it was shocking! The first thing that went wrong was that I was served a dish that the plate was scalding hot that they didn't warn you of, that I burnt my fingers when I pulled the plate toward me! I had instant blisters and they dismissed this and blamed me! This went down the line from waiter to server to the manager! After talking with the manager, "Mary" who insulted me and would not take responsibility and dismissed the seriousness of this, I realized why the waiter and server didn't take it serious! The next thing was that they are misleading when you are choosing your "four course meal"! They tell you that you buy the meal, which is pricey and the other courses come with the meal! Not true! You pay extra for every course! I brought this to their attention as well, and you guessed it, the same rude, unprofessional, classless, dismissive response! They will not take responsibility for they're burning people or misleading people! I tried calling the restaurant a few days later to talk to the owner and "Mary" the so called manager just kept hanging up on me! How low can you get! After I looked up reviews of the restaurant and saw that the owner was just as bad in her dismissive responses, I realized that I was wasting my breath! So, as I told them that I would be doing, I am leaving this review anywhere and everywhere that I can! The similar reviews that I found here are the exact same thing that I experienced and can vouch for those reviews as well! Nasty! Rude! Unprofessional! Classless! Unacceptable! Horrible! Never again and I will spread the word!
Be the first to ReplyIt's not only the food.
We were visiting Ventura and went to Casa Bella for for dinner. The food was good, the service was very good (Ancel), but restaurants are about more than just serving food. They serve as a social hub in the community, conveying its culture and certainly acting with integrity. I left my backpack behind in the outdoor patio, and contacted them the very next morning before they had even opened. We stopped before the lunch shift even started and saw our waiter, as well as another waiter who recognized us and said I'd left my purse behind and he'd given it to the hostess. He described the backpack and where we had sat the night before. After searching the restaurant, they realized it was missing. I asked for the manager on shift last night, and they indicated the owner was in charge. I finally spoke with Jan, who had been listening but not intervening the whole time her staff searched. (Jan did not want to give me her last name, but finally did stating it was Shuster, tho later to learn it was another name entirely). After many, many unfortunate texts, phone calls with both her and her daughter Jada the General Manger, they concluded that the hostess left it outside in their unlocked and unprotected patio. At first they stated they had cameras, then many days later indicated to me that the cameras had not been working, but that homeless people frequented the area at night, sometimes sleeping on their tables and poking around. I was informed/texted by Jan the owner that "You left and lost your purse and what you claim to be important like check books and cash...You left and lost your purse. It was so important you didn't even come back to retrieve it...I don't even know how anyone can leave their purse and not come back. You and you alone left it...We kept it safely the entire evening. Ultimately you irresponsibly left your bag the entire evening and never came back to retrieve it." Sad.

I donโt often give a mediocre review.
Pros- nice outdoor dining patio in front of restaurant on a closed street so lots of pedestrians & people watching, food wise, the complimentary bread & filet mignon & fried cauliflower were good. Very attentive service. They do allow you the option to not order the price fixed menu, which is nice.
Cons- a poor wine by the glass selection, itโs price fixed which Iโm not a fan of, the mussels appetizer was really not good. If you choose to sit inside the restaurant, itโs pretty dark in there.
Iโm sorry to say, there are so many better dining options, I wouldnโt go back.
Looking to go a Little Upscale? Look no Further! Casa Bella Rewards
We wandered into Casa Bella and were glad we did. The food and prices are upscale. But we felt that we received good value. Our server Ryan was a real pro and enhanced the upscale experience. We ordered a deal of some sort that came with apps and entrees. The risotto and sea bass both impressed. But the meals were very rich. There appears to be plenty of indoor seating. We sat outside on a cool evening and were comfortable. We will return to Casa Bella as soon as possible.
Be the first to ReplyWorth going to for special occasions
Went to Casa Bella on Christmas Eve and had an enjoyable time with excellent service and food. The only reason I am not giving it 5 puffs is that it is pretty pricey with dinner for 2, a glass of house wine, a bottle of wine from their wine list, one coffee, and tax/tip coming to $210. If you know your wines, they have an excellent selection at very reasonable prices for some of them, (again, you need to know the retail price of these wines going in).
Supposedly the Happy Hour is a standout, but we weren't here for that.
Interesting Concept
The 4 course dinner was interesting. The deviled eggs were delicious. The Mexican Caesar was tasty. The burger & fries were formidable. The Margaritas were terrific. Our bartender/server was attentive & friendly. No complaints.

FANTASTIC dinner with a very creative chef & excellent staff. Appetizers, entrees, drinks and desserts were all very much enjoyed. Looking forward to visiting them again when we're in the area again.
Be the first to ReplyShared Meal Perfectly Recommened
My wife and I were spending a day away from all this craziness of COVID-19 hoax and needed a break So we traveled to Ventura for the day and evening. For dinner our hotel had to close all it restaurants and bar forcing us to find a place to dine. That worked out perfectly. The restaurants of downtown Ventura had obtained permission from the city to have street side dining. Casa Bella's menu was just what we were looking to enjoy. Because we had a large lunch, the waitress recommended we share a meal. It was absolutely perfect. It included an appetizer, salad and main course. The owner was on site and we found her and all her staff to be outstanding. Highly recommend Casa Bella when you're in Ventura.
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievably Rude Manager - Mike
The one star is for the Manager on duty this evening, Mike. He was argumentative, evasive, and rude. During our discussion, he repeatedly talked over me, argued with me, and exhibited zero empathy. He seemed more intent on "winning" than addressing the situation.
So I'm in town from the OC because the beaches in Ventura finally re-opened and it was hot out. So after a day of hanging out at the beach I decided I wanted some dinner. I went on Yelp and noticed the wonderful reviews of Casa Bella Prime and saw that they are delivering during this craziness of COVID.
Awesome, I thought. I'll order from them. I've been craving a great steak anyhow, and if I don't have to drive and pick it up - even better.
So I ordered the chorizo ravioli, 16 oz. NY Strip (w/o mushrooms), Mac & Cheese, some fries, and a Perrier/Pelligrino.
My order was around $75 plus I told them to add a 25% tip because I truly want to help local businesses out. The woman who took my order was extremely appreciative and kind, I do need to point this out.
The issues arose when I checked my food. The NY Steak had mushrooms (see pics), and the Perrier/Pelligrino was missing. No itemized receipt was provided, so I do not know if I was charged for it or not.
Additionally, there was no plastic cutlery. None. For a delivery. To a hotel.
So first I called the driver because I figured he probably just forgot. He answered the phone and told me they "weren't allowed to give out plastic cutlery". I can understand unwrapped cutlery - but they aren't allowed to even give out sealed cutlery?
Now I'm frustrated, because I have $75+ worth of food sitting on my hotel desk with no means to eat it. I mean, yeah, I could have gone all caveman and used my hands, but my parents raised me better than that. And that would just be conceding defeat. Nope.
So I called the restaurant back and asked to speak with a manager. Mike answered the phone and advised he was a manager. Awesome, I figured there would be a quick resolution to the issue. Wrong.
I explain the situation, and Mike tells me the same as the driver: "We aren't allowed to give out cutlery. This is a new situation for us, and not something we normally do."
You're telling me, when folks take food to go from this restaurant, no plastic cutlery is provided or offered? You're telling me that while the intentions are great on the restaurant's behalf to try and stay open and provide the public with food, no one took a moment to think perhaps folks who were not at home would need a way to eat the food?
So I ask him these questions, and he keeps telling me, "Look, this is a new situation for us, it isn't something we do, we don't have cutlery. Why don't you go ask the hotel?"
If he had been nice about it, I would have said, "Sure, that's a great idea." But he wasn't. He was condecending. He was rude. He was arrogant.
Then, I mentioned I would just go ahead and do a charge-back. At this point, he became extremely agitated and said, "What the heck? So you get $80 worth of food and we get nothing?"
I calmly replied, "How am I supposed to eat it sir?"
Mike responded, "You have the food, we did our part".
At this point, I was done talking with him. I asked who the General Manager of the restaurant was. He paused, stammered, and replied, "I'M the manager tonight."
I paused to give both of us a moment to breathe and asked, "That's not what I asked, Mike. I asked 'Who is the General Manager of the restaurant?'" Again, he evaded answering the questions.
Fine, let's try something else. I asked who the owners were. He wouldn't answer and started yelling at me about how he did his job, and provided the food, and won't let me get a word in edge-wise.
I advised he was being rude. He then started yelling at me asking how he was being rude.
At this point, I told him I didn't care anymore, and I hung up.
It isn't about the money or the food, but how Mike thought it was even remotely appropriate to talk with a guest how he did. Especially in the current environment we are in?!
It is most definitely a buyer's market. Businesses are hurting as it is - no one can afford to alienate guests with prideful attitude. And yet, Mike felt it was perfectly acceptable for him to argue with a guest.
A negative word of mouth review can spread like wildfire and 54% of customers share bad experiences with more than five people, while only 33% share their good experiences (Zendesk)?
Adding to that, most customers have an online presence now, and one bad review from them can cost a restaurant everyone in their circle of
By the way, it took 30 seconds of Googling to find the owner's name: Jan Schuster. Don't know why it was such a big deal for Mike to answer that question.
Delivery service
Ordered the Easter Special delivery day before Easter. Delivery was late but they were swamped. And for good reason, the good was fantastic!!! Ordered filet minon, and lobster and shrimp with pasta that includes salad, appetizer, side dish and a bottle of wine! Good was still not and outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a gourmet meal.
Be the first to ReplyThis Place is Amazing
A group of us went here for dinner after a show. It's a steakhouse, yes but it's also so much more. I had a seafood pasta dish that was truly amazing and an incredible meal that was beyond belief for the price. A spicy shrimp pasta with a whole lobster tail on top for under $45.00. The portion was generous and the flavor was spot on!!
Side was outstanding and the service was perfect.
