Rip off!
What a joke. Went to this spanish tapas resturanten with high expectations since it also was reccomended by guide Michelin. Food comes delivered from nearby sister restaurant I guess, no kitchen behind this place. Ordered some Andalucian shrimps, but totally disaster. Fatty and not chrunchy at all. Fish taco OK, but nothing to write home about. Expensive, but absolutely no value for money. White wine by the glass served to warm, rude waiter, only reason to give two stars instead of one, was a nice female waiter trying to do her best. But please Michelin, take this place out of your list! You will find better places in every small city in Spain, London is supposed to be a culinary city!
Be the first to ReplyUnacceptable, borderline criminal
Went in for late dinner. Food was average, and service was pretencious. Had a tortilla, wine and 1 beer. When the bill came the waiter said it was 60ยฃ fixed price. I said I hadn't agreed on any of that and asked for the bill. After an unpleasant set of arguments he accepted that I would only paid the amount billed.. ยฃ25!

Too much cream. Prices ridiculous. Some of us felt I'll the next day. 262.05 for 4 people. I had been here once before and thought it was great. I don't think I'd go again and not to the two sister restaurants either. It and they were busy. The wine volver on vivino costs 12ยฃ they sell it for 35 There is a slightly cheaper one by the glass. It scores 4 on vivino but the mark up.is obscene. Boquerones 12.75. Should be 7 Pulpo 19.75. For a tiny bit full.of cream. What are they playing at? Doesn't even taste the way I should. They charge for bread. 1.5 forgot to charge for second lot of bread unless the 1.5 is unlimited bread which I doubt. Tortilla with a bit of truffle 16.25. Insured. Small tortilla not at all like in Spain complete ripoff. Churros and chocolate for dessert good idea. 8 ยฃ. Gambas ridiculous.Large and tasteless for 15.5 Brocolli 7.75. This place is pretentious. Always was.Appeals to.pretentious people. Not good quality. They should charge half the amount and get authentic Spaniards to cook. They think they are better than they are but can get away and have been getting away with it for years. I can already guess what the main dishes will be like. And check out the prices. It is in the Guide si what!!! That means nothing. It certainly doesn't have and never has any stars. Croquettes of chicken and ham the former better than the latter but at 8.5 that's nearly 3 quid each. How ridiculous us that. The tomatoes in sherry. Come on mate!!! 4.42 each!!! 4 of them17.68. They actually don't have a great selection of tapas. I asked if the tapas ( or pintxos) were better or different in the sister restaurants nearby and was told they were the same. The menus on the internet days differently. Also we booked for this place. Beer 4.75 Majestic 1.30 Service charge ( the sign of a greedy ynmodern) 29.12 on 232. All in all poor choice Pulpo tortilla tomatoes grossly and indecently priced. There should be somebody policing this. I would not go back and would also not go to Cambio de Tercio or to Tendido Zero. I really don't know how they can justify some of the prices. The pintxos were not terrible. They were poor. Pity. First time I went the waiter told me I couldn't hang in to the menu since I.migjt make a mess on it. It was I think.laminated. That's a first to be told that by the waiting staff. Pity. Half the prices improve the pintxos. Get someone good from Spain to come over and do it properly.

Finding ourselves in London's Gloucester Road at 8pm without a reservation and getting too late for any dinner booking, we came across this little gem of an authentic Spanish tapas bar 5 minutes walk from the Underground station. Authentic Spanish traditional tapas cooked and served by Spanish-speaking staff, the restaurant decor also adds to the authenticity of the experience; The bar and walls are stocked with an impressive array of bottled Spanish wines and spirits and festooned with bullfighting memorabilia. An outstanding Gazpacho for us both followed by sharing-plates of Ceviche de Lubina (Sea Bass), pulpo (octopus) and Ajo Blanco (white asparagus) and finishing with Tabla de Quesos (a cheeseboard); the flavours of all dishes were full and complex but well balanced leading to an excellent dining experience. All of this was accompanied with a a very good white wine - a Verdejo and finished with Orujo (a clear Spanish eau de vie) and espresso coffees. The service was attentive, knowledgeable, professional and ever so patient with us as we didn't leave until close-on midnight! Price-wise; not bad considering it's in a fashionable part of London. Service charge is added to the bill at 12.5% as with most places these days. Gazpacho at ยฃ4.50 and Tapas dishes are between ยฃ9 and ยฃ19. A bottle of house white is around ยฃ30, so not cheap, but very good quality. Highly recommended. This tapas bar also has two 'sister' restaurants situated opposite on the same street with menus catering for more modern Spanish tastes.

You will you are in Spain. Extensive sherry and wine list from Spain. You can enjoy flamenco music at night together with excellent tapas food. Try the chorizo and grilled octopus with a good bottle of Rioja wine
Be the first to ReplyGreat little restaurant
Great restaurant on old brompton road - felt alot more authentic than other spanish tapas in the area, as well as a live guitarist on a friday night. The food was fantastic but I would definetely not recommend the manchego cheesecake - it wasn't nice and a shame to end the great meal on that note.
Overall though, would recommend the restaurant and the food!
Fun evening
We were looking for a different menu and we found it here. Itโs a perfect environment for a group of friends and for som one who doesnโt mind a little loudness.
Try their octopus and their tartare.
And donโt look for big plates, they do tapas style here: small but yummy!
Disappointing paella
The restaurant is small but welcoming. They do paella for a minimum of 2 people. When it came, it was very dry and almost burnt with very little meat and seafood.
Be the first to ReplyVery enjoyable experience
This a small very comfortable restaurant with excellent staff and a cool vibe. The food is a contemporary take an classic tapas and it largely succeeds in its mission. They seem to have a very extensive gin and tonic menu and produce spectacular cocktails.
Even though there are probably only 25 seats a guitarist strums away all night.
Birthday tapas
Arguably the best croquetas we have ever tasted! We had an excellent experience here, good service and delicious food. It is a small, characterful restaurant, with live music on a Friday night, and was a good choice for a birthday celebration. Really enjoyed it and will definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat fun
We had a small family dinner for four here and it was wonderful in every respect. We had a warm welcome from the staff, the guitarist was already at work and the wine was well chilled. The tapas menu is not the cheapest in town but the quality of food and the ambience make all worthwhile. Will definitely return
