Gluten free night was amazing
As someone with celiac in Boston; dining out isn’t always easy. But dinner here was so delicious. We came for gluten free/Taylor swift night and to celebrate my bday. The food was really delicious and we would all absolutely come back. I had so many of the gluten free appetizers, and had the risotto as my entree. For dessert I had a delicious chocolate cake with coffee ice cream. Everyone else with me is not gluten free and they loved their gluten free food here. I will absolutely be back and am so thankful this restaurant offers such a safe option for people who need to eat gluten free.

We returned to our favorite Italian Boston eatery, CAPO, yesterday after a brutal two-year separation due to COVID. Our return was heralded by the same warmth and welcome. Although the restaurant was virtually at capacity, we were welcomed like old friends, rushed to a cozy table by the blazing hearth and festively decorated Christmas tree! Within moments, the super-friendly Jeronimo was table-side to welcome us back and immerse us in the trademark CAPO hospitality we've long experienced here. General Manager Will also stopped by to warmly welcome us back and returned throughout the evening. We started with the house old fashioned, which was superb, and ordered the most tender luscious meatballs we had missed the past two years. Alongside the meatballs we ordered Eggplant Involtini, the perfect pair to start our meal. For mains, we ordered the nicely cooked veal chop and saucy shrimp scampi, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. When Jeronimo brought a plate of crusty bread with a soft absorbent crumb for sopping up the remaining red gravy from the meatballs and white wine sauce from shrimp scampi, as much as we tried to maintain decorum, we left not even a slice of that bread, sopping up every drop of those delectable sauces. We saw not one empty table and yet everything arrived at our table steaming hot in perfect cadence with our appetites. Behind us, the kitchen was rocking, we watched one gorgeous plate after another depart and the charcuterie staff was plating magnificent platefuls of amazing meats, cheeses and other treats that made us wish we'd ordered them, too. Despite the two-year hiatus, it seemed like we'd been here just yesterday. Same amazing food, flawless service and an ambiance which made us feel so at home. CAPO provides a beautiful setting for any occasion and every guest was well indulged in an unforgettable meal and classic service. We enjoyed again observing how such a large dining operation gets everything so right, providing flawless food, service and hospitality in equal measure. If you want to see how a dining establishment can excel, this is a prime example. Amazing food, timeless and timely service where each and every patron feels like the most important person in the dining room. We cannot wait (already) to return again. So many new dishes we want to try and the energy in that dining room is incomparable. Much warmth, laughter, smiles, so many happy diners indulging themselves in legendary fare which is always flawless! We feel like part of the CAPO family every time we dine here, it's like nowhere else in Boston1
Be the first to ReplyIdeal italian for me
Wow the pizza at Capo is unbelievable, my mouth waters thinking about it, I highly suggest it, and they make them gluten-free and they tasted amazing. All in all: the dishes are fabulous, drinks are amazing and strong, and the atmosphere is kind and enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, cozy fireplace, beautiful bar area, great service…
We were in town doing college tours. The place was filled with a younger, livelier crowd, but there were some quieter corners too. The vibe is rustic chic. The big fireplace is so cozy and inviting. The dress code; casual. Kitchen; open and clean. Food; delicious!! Service; excellent. A little loud bc of the high ceilings and open floor dining room, but really worth it for a great meal in a nice atmosphere!

An obviously popular local hangout. Delicious Italian food. The best meat and cheese board I have ever had! We enjoyed the outdoor dining area. Plenty of staff, great service.
Be the first to ReplyLoud, but amazing food
It is very very loud, which is unfortunate because their food is amazing. Voices are amplified throughout the building, making it hard to carry on a conversation, even in the back near the kitchen. Our waitress was actually hoarse from trying to talk over the background noise. However, the food was really good and our waitress was fantastic. Even took a margarita and slice of cake to go.

have been there several times, but Capo's was great on accommodating our group of 12-15 for a family reunion.
Be the first to Replyfun/loud/delicious MINUS the management
This place is a new IT and seems like everyone is there on Friday and Saturday. Its so popular that if you don't have a reservation and don't like to stand outside in a line that is few blocks long maybe its not for you. I believe this guys own "Fat baby " that is my fav place as well. The place is beautiful and has few rooms and different bars, as well as downstairs with a live music. The food was so delicious that I am still dreaming about brussel sprouts in pesto sauce and branzino! Our waiters was very outgoing and funny and did an amazing job of making sure we had enough drinks and food. We were very impressed with a bar service and food quality for such a busy place you dont have to wait too long in order to get a drink or your meal. As soon as we got in we put our name down for the downstairs and the girl told us we would get a txt close to when we done with dinner. after spending about 3 hours at the place and checking with the hostess and see how overwhelmed these girls are we decided to go elsewhere and not waist any more money and keep hearing you are next. You can see how they are overwhelmed and not trained for this job they just keep looking at each other hoping one of them is smart enough to answer politely. they kept passing iPad to each other and clearly were not capable to manage the crowd. I would really suggest to hire someone with a bit more customer service/restaraunt management skills people for the front. will i give another shot to this place? maybe for brunch otherwise i would go to fat baby as everyone is so much nicer there.
Be the first to ReplyItalian on the South End
Not every good Italian place is in the North End. We found Capo to be just as good, and clearly so do other Bostonians, as the tables were full on a Friday night. We were promptly seated at our reserved time (be sure to reserve a table) and our waiter arrived less than a minute later. He got our drinks, reviewed the specials and made some appetizer suggestions. After deciding on some olives and a cheese plate, we ordered our mains. The pasta dishes are to die for, the veal was succulent, and the branzino was quite tasty. Our waiter was always attentive to us, so our wine glasses and water were never empty. Our bellies, which started empty arrived at full, and the feeling of such wonderful Italian dishes made us skip dessert. A fifteen minute walk back to our hotel in the cool Boston night air refreshed us and helped to burn off some of those extra calories. This is a place we will come back to!
Be the first to ReplyTook my wife here for her
Took my wife here for her birthday. What a line outside for the live music downstairs!! Anyhow, I have to say, the ambiance, decor, etc - very nice!! the staff was incredibly polite, and even let me sample my whiskey before I ordered a glass, neat. Thought that was nice! I requested a nice riesling be brought to our table for my wife - it was perfect. The food was delicious - had the roasted cauliflower and calimari for apps - delicious! Our entrees were the salmon and my wife had a pasta dish. Absolutely top notch. The only downside is the noise level - it was pretty loud, but we didn't mind. This was "romantic" but not. I know that doesn't make sense. The huge downside was trying to find parking. If you're coming here.. uber, or prep a good 20 minutes to circle around for parking. If I were Capo, I'd have a valet service available? Other than that - great experience. Will dine here again! :)
