Great environment
Always grabbed a drink whenever I’m out. Staff there always welcome me and almost know everything I order like the back of their hand !
Be the first to ReplyGreat west village brunch spot
Amazing brunch! Long lines, but food is great. Simple and well executed. The service was impeccable- shoutout to Noble who went out of his way to accommodate us. Loved the waffles and avocado toast. Carrots perfectly flavored with cumin, cilantro, pistachios. Perfect cappuccino. Outdoor seating with heaters that really keep you warm made for a very comfortable experience even on a cold day.

Im addicted to this place for breakfast/brunch. I even join the line to eat here and there’s nearly always a considerable line. It’s for good reason. Excellent quality ingredients executed to perfection. I like sitting at the counter if possible but at busy times get what you can. Staff are great here. Lesson to all. Keep it simple and do it well. They do it better than most.

Excellent food and service. Can't wait to return! Had the saumon fume (eggs with smoked salmon and creme fraiche) and it was outstanding. Better than anything we had in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyBrunch Extraordinaire - Fun Casual Small Restaurant
Brunch extraordinaire - Great eggs with salmon, fine cocktails. Almond croissant yummy. Enjoyed a glass of fresh squeezed OJ and the ginger/lime non alcoholic beverage was refreshing.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
I had never dined at this gastrotheque before. Having visited numerous bistros across the globe and in New York City, where I've grown accustomed to traditional French cuisine, I was eager to explore something new this evening. After perusing the web, I stumbled upon glowing reviews of Buvette. Admittedly, I didn't scrutinize the dates of those reviews, but I decided to give it a shot. The restaurant itself is small, with tables squeezed closely together, barely eight inches apart. This lack of space not only compromised any semblance of privacy but also made it difficult to sit comfortably or even accommodate glasses, silverware, and plates without the risk of something toppling over. The waitstaff, though efficient, seemed hindered by the tight quarters, leading to unfortunate mishaps like oil spilling on my sweater as they maneuvered around the tables to clear plates (a management issue rather than their fault). As for the food, it was, at best, mediocre. A supposedly simple dish like cassoulet disappointed, featuring what seemed to be a tired piece of duck. Despite the seemingly low price of $18 for a glass of wine, it was a deception. The tiny glass they use for wine by the glass could not hold more than six ounces even at full capacity and it was half full. They poured out mere three ounces at best. When I inquired about the discrepancy, the server claimed it was a five-ounce pour, which clearly wasn't the case. The quality of the wine they serve by the glass is extremely poor to make things worse. Even the cocktails suffered from a lack of alcohol content. I don't mind paying $36 dollars for a six-ounce glass of wine, if the bottle is worth $144. It's worth noting that a bottle of wine typically serves four glasses, with an ounce to spare. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was thoroughly disappointing. It's evident that the owners prioritize maximizing profit over providing a quality dining experience, with deceptive pricing strategies in play. The servers were the best part of this experience. Save yourself the trouble and seek out one of the many superior dining options available in New York City within the same price range.

Simply stellar breakfast, the avocado toast was incredible and others in our group enjoyed the waffles. Freshly squeezed juices and steaming hot coffee. Impeccable service.

Whenever in New York Buvette is a must visit! Fantastic atmosphere, excellent staff & above all wonderful food. Best known for Breakfast/Brunch (which is fantastic), this trip we visited for dinner too, also excellent. Every time we look forward to the next time!

It’s become our go-to for breakfast or brunch. Always sit at the counter. Staff are fun. Food is excellent. Gets very busy. One word. Mimosa😀

Hands down my favorite meal this trip. The restaurant has such a beautifully quaint atmosphere. It fits right in with the West Village. The Avocado Toast and Waffle Sandwich are delicious, as is the fresh orange juice.
Be the first to ReplyA bit of Paris in NYC
A recommendation from locals - and glad we went. Sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the baristas as much as we did the food and outstanding cappucions. Not a place to go on a budget. Still, I will definintely visit again.
Be the first to ReplyJust what I wanted
I wanted to come here for a long time - I have a well worn Buvette cookbook at home. Arrived around 9am on Saturday, solo and had no problem getting a seat (was offered bar or window). Line for bigger tables started forming shortly thereafter. Enjoyed and pretty little cappuccino, perfectly not too sweet scone, steamed eggs with chèvre and sun dried tomatoes and carrots rappee. All delicious and served at a nice cadence. Only snafu was my Togo order for kid back at hotel - had to wait 30 minutes , they forgot but wasn’t terrible to people and dog watch while I waited.

Charming venue in a great neighborhood, this little place is worth a trip. Creative and classic menu, served with friendly efficient staff, and overall excellent quality food and experience. Loved it
Be the first to ReplyBest French 75 in NYC
Only stopped in for a drink because I heard they had the best French 75 in town, and I was not disappointed! The ambiance was really great, the drinks were fabulous, and the service was spectacular. Definitely adding this to my list of favorite little spots in NYC!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect place for conversations and great food
Buvette was the perfect place to enjoy a lovely meal and conversation with friends. We shared some appetizers (anchovy toast, pistou toast and the Brussels salad) and then had entrees including the mussels (get extra bread for the broth!), the cassoulet and the burger. All were extremely tasty. The restaurant was busy, but the noise level was just a low hum - perfect for an evening catchup with friends. Highly recommend this place for the food, service and atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyOverhyped
I would say that this place is overhyped and influenced by popular NYC youtubers. The portions compared to their price are very tiny, as well as their latte is just a couple of sips. There is a long queue next to the restaurant and it feels that service's priority is just to seat as many people as possible throughout the day.
Be the first to ReplyLovely French Cafe!!
An exquisite French cafe in NYC. I have to say every dishes here was delicious, especially the chocolate croissant and almond croissant were superb!! We were lucky to be seated in a very short time. Service was excellent and friendly. Atmosphere and ambiance was relaxing yet vibrant. Lovely place to dine with friends or solo. Food portion isn’t big but I left with happy stomach. Avocado toast was delicious too. Next time I would want to sit outside in the cute little backyard. Definitely recommend to others. And I found out they have a Buvette in Tokyo too~ hope it will take reservations even on the weekend. 美味しいブランチ食べできました。リラックスできる雰囲気で、スタッフも丁寧に対応してくれて、楽しい時間でした。
Be the first to ReplyGood food, unacceptable waiting for dessert, and to end up, difficult to pay!
Waiting time for dessert ca 30 mins. But the Bombinos were delicious when I finalen got them. Steak was well grilled. Staff worked hard, but seemed untrained.
Be the first to ReplyJust do it
This is a place where people are happy to queue round the block for breakfast/brunch. And for good reason. Being British we are used to having breakfast at breakfast time and not lunch time so there was a relatively small queue on arrival. And we got even luckier as we were 4 people and everybody in front of us was a pair. Up pops a table for 4. Really good French/Belgium based menu enhanced by Americans as only they can do. Waffles, croque monsieur, pancakes. Sweet and savoury. Great juice. Sat outside but inside also great. All ingredients top notch quality. Portions good but sensible. Service great. West Village is a great area too. America is so good at stuff like this but particularly in NY.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Resturant
Meal- 5/5. We ordered 6 dishes total (including dessert) and they were all fantastic. Everything from the escargot to the chicken soup was excellent. I'd assume the entire menu is consistently good. Service- 4.5/5. This restaurant is very busy, especially for dinner on the weekends. Despite that, the waitress was very attentive and got our food to our table in a relatively timely manner. Considering the amount of customers, I was impressed. Ambiance- 4.5/5. Aesthetically speaking, Buvette is certainly French. The décor is certainly authentic. That being said, when sitting inside, the tables are obnoxiously small. This may be personal preference, but if possible, try to sit outside to get some more space. Overall, it was my second visit at Buvette and I was blown away again by the entire experience. I hope to return soon!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Oasis
So, other girlfriend wanted to see the Friends house located at the other end of the street, I went along even though it was not my cup of tea. However, after walking further into the village we found this place. It was so hot that we asked for a Gin and Tonic and was told that unless we were dining we had to sit on the terrace at the back. I did not care, the terrace was compact but so peaceful and an enormous window allowed you to people watch in the bar. The Gin and Tonic was huge and well received we had an issue trying to get some olives, (lost in translation) but the staff were great very sweet and accommodating. If you are a friends fanatic or a friends widow/widower this place is the perfect antidote.
Be the first to ReplyLovely French bistro for brunch
Darling French bistro, Had a nice Sunday brunch, ordering the Chicken salad, salmon & egg, egg & ham. Loved the financiers & croissants. Wines by the glass, were good. Only comment, Didn’t love the spicy Bloody Mary. Others might Shout out to our server Jackson, who was wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyBack patio a little crowded
We made an early dinner reservation at 415, and it was nice enough to eat outside. Buvette has a decent sized sidewalk patio area, but also a small back terrace which was a little crowded for my liking. Food is terrific but heavy - brandade and beef tartar were my favorites. Good cocktails, good wine. A nice experience overall.
Be the first to ReplyVery Good Breakfast in NYC
The food at Buvette was very good. I ordered a French toast with blackberries and raspberries on top with powdered sugar and an omelette. My friends all liked their foods too. It’s not too large of a restaurant and they have an outdoor area too. During this time of year the outdoor area is one of or slightly opened establishments a lot of NYC restaurants have built as a result of COVID for spacing purposes. I recommend this restaurant and would go again!
