Buca Di Bacco Positano Reviews from The Last Year
Perfect Spot in Positano
Absolutely gorgeous hotel! It was perfectly located, less then a 5 minute walk to the ferry to Capri, 2 minutes to the beach, it was perfect. My husband and I left the French doors open every night to fall asleep to the sea breeze and waves. The complimentary mini bar in the room was an added bonus!
In the cave of the goddess of food and wine Buca Di Bacco
In the cave of the goddess of food and wine Buca Di Bacco is over 100 years old and the food is still perfection. We see why this restaurant has lived for so many years, it was a wonderful experience with food, wine, and the service! We got zucchini flowers to begin with, seabass with vegetables, and delicious pasta , paired with delicious wine our waiter was so sweet he actually helped me decide which fish to try and he did not disappoint it was so fresh and it melted in the mouth! The plus side was that we were right by the water view again and honestly it makes the difference so gorgeous to look at!
Gorgeous hotel, wonderful service, great views!
Gorgeous hotel, wonderful service from the moment you enter, great views! Relaxing environment , full service, great breakfasts, and the restaurant is delicious! A little rough to get to with our bags, but overall is a Great location, We really enjoyed our time here!
Amazing hotel for a perfect vacation in Positano
Wonderful hotel and highly recommended! There are so many great things about this hotel. Firstly, helpful friendly staff with good customer service. Secondly, the room is beautiful, clean, and has a nice terrace with the beautiful views of Positano. I booked the Superior Double Room with a small terrace with sea view, and stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The terrace has perfect views of Positano. Breakfast was included during our stay. We had breakfast at our room terrace as well as at the breakfast area that has the same views as from our room terrace. Good and delicious selection of food for breakfast. Thirdly, it is situated in a great location which is in the middle of Positano close to the beach, restaurants, shops, and ferry ports.
Anniversary Trip
This was our fifth time staying at Buca Di Bacco and it never disappoints. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Positano. The staff and service are simply the best. They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your time at the hotel. We just celebrated our 40th anniversary this past visit and I so look forward to our next visit.
Fantastic Positano Hotel Experience; Great View, Excellent Service, Very Clean and Superb Food!
We absolutely loved this wonderful hotel and the staff. The facility was lovely, super clean, classy and elegant, but not stuffy. The staff was excellent; friendly, great service for anything we wanted or needed; directions, breakfast, lunch, dinner, an appertivo, or just an espresso. All delivered with quality, care and a smile! Highly recommend their restaurant/food. We dined at several Amalfi Coast restaurants, and had 4 breakfasts and 2 dinners here, and all were just excellent. Their kitchen has a window to the pedestrian street, so you can see the chefs working in a super clean kitchen with their excellent ingredients. Not sure many restaurants will want you to see into their kitchen...Our room had the most amazing view, day or night. Super romantic! Even the shower had a window to enjoy the view of the picturesque Amalfi Coast!
Beachside boutique hotel
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel again for a second year running. It was very busy in July (the year before I visited in May). The first visit was better. I was given a beautiful room as the hotel was not busy as Italy had just opened up and pricing was a lot better ($400 less a night for the same room). We were given a small room when we first arrived despite asking for the same room again. The next day we were graciously moved when I enquired about my old room that I had requested. Annoying when only there four nights but again, it was high season and we were lucky the kind staff got us a room at all during this period. I did feel a tad ‘monitored’ when my daughter had a friend stay on the spare bed at 3am one morning so they could come back safely home together and was questioned about it and told there would be a charge. When I explained she was in the room for four hours sleeping on existing bedding it was removed. I think there is new management now as the quality of the toiletries provided was not the same and the chef had gone too. One meal we had on the upstairs terrace, a veal dish was dry and awful but there was nothing simple to eat. It would be nice if you could get a pizza or a burger/club sandwich when you didn’t want a rich pasta or seafood dish. This was the simplest option and it was barely edible. On the flip side, a meal we had downstairs for lunch was delicious. Maybe different night chef?
Yes!Yes!Yes!
This hotel is absolutely wonderful. We had an oceanview room with a lrg veranda and it was beautiful. Spacious and a great bathroom. Very clean. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend staying at Bucca di Bacco.
We are staying in the hotel and loved it so much that this
We are staying in the hotel and loved it so much that this is our third time. It has the most amazing views. We chose to be outside on the upstairs dining area. I found the price very reasonable and the wait staff amazing. The food was great! Homemade pasta, muscles, lemon risotto... all amazing.
The best hotel in Positano
The best located hotel in Positano, just down in front of the port and the beach, the best views and the best service, Fernanda at reception is a genius and Catello is attentive at breakfast and restaurant at all times! We will definitely return to the same hotel and recommend it to everyone who comes to Positano! Impeccable service, food, cleanliness and location!
You're paying for one thing and one thing only, the view.
Fortunately there are much better restaurants in Positano with similar views, better in fact. The service was poor, inattentive, and unfriendly. The pasta undercooked and hard. I was unable to cut the steak with a steak knife due to what I originally thought was fat but must have been a tendon as I couldn't saw through it no matter how hard I tried. It was also drenched in a far too strong red wine reduction which overpowered the steak and vegetables. Sent it back and they said it would be removed from the bill yet there it was when the check arrived. Overall one of the worst Italian dinners ever had anywhere. Just another typical tourist trap as you might expect for it's location.
the food the ambiance , the view! We had a great lunch with

Outstanding views and beautiful room
I've been to positano many times and this year I decided to stay at Bucca di Bacco hotel. I had seen the reviews and photos on line and we chose an Executive Room. I was nervous staying in a hotel down by the beach since all my prior stays were up higher in Positano and had spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the village. However from the hotel website my understanding was most of the rooms were built into the side of the cliff and are several stories above the beach. The Hotel Bucca di bacco did NOT disappoint. The room was extremely nice and well appointed. It had a really nice sitting area that faced out toward the Mediterranean with spectacular views!! The balcony was huge. It not only had a table and chairs but it also had two chaise lounges and a coffee table with plenty of room to spare. We had all but one of our breakfasts here each morning and it was fantastic - it was hard to actually want to do any thing else. The only breakfast we had in the breakfast room/hotel bar was the first morning. We were advised to do that per the knowledgeable and professional gentleman who checked us in and then showed us to our room ( I think they have to show you to your room since you have to go down a long corridor, up an elevator that I think is built in the cliff then down another corridor, up a second elevator to the corridor that led to the room). We were advised breakfast in the room was no additional charge, but we should go down one day so that we can see what they have and then know what what we would want to order. So we did go, and because it was very cool that morning the terrace wasn't open and we had to eat inside. This was my only disappointment in the Hotel. As beautifully decorated our room was, the breakfast room was not. I think if we could have eaten outside it wouldn't have been so bad. Just be warned, you'll have to maneuver in and out doors amd down a few stairs but the view would be worth it. Additionally, this was the only place we found the service not that good. Actually the waiter that morning seemed like he wasn't happy being there. Meanwhile the room service staff, from the people that took our orders to the waiters that delivered the breakfast were outstanding and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially the Executive Room if you can afford the upgrade. Oh and don't miss the cream filled pastries!
The service and atmosphere was amazing, but my sister and I
The service and atmosphere was amazing, but my sister and I ended up with food poisoning after we both got the chicken parm.
A trifecta of a great location, service and comfort
We truly enjoyed our five day stay at the Bucca Di Bacco. The hotel location is in great proximity to the beach, the marina and even has an entrance form the main square. Upon arriving we were greeted by Salvatore, who was so kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. Our room was a very nice size, with great storage, it was clean and the AC was fantastic. Heads-up- the bathtub/shower was a bit narrow, so you will need to use caution when showering. Our ample balcony offered a beautiful view of Positano, the beach and of course the iconic Santa Maria di Assunta church- front & center!! The hotel was very clean and the staff very kind and accommodating. I like that a beach bag and towels were there for our perusal, it came in quite handy. I really liked the patio where we enjoyed complimentary breakfast each morning. I especially liked the fresh-squeezed orange juice, I loved pushing the button of the juicing machine and watching juice from local oranges pour into my glass! Since I have a dairy sensitivity, and eat mostly vegan and have a nut allergy, I found breakfast options quite limiting. Also if you prefer an alternative milk for your coffee or cereal, they only offer soy milk. I would suggest offering dairy-free oatmeal with other “milk” options on the side, such as Oat, coconut or almond milk. Also I think a chia-seed “pudding” would be a nice dairy & gluten-free simple addition to the menu. A big thank you to Catello who took excellent care of us every morning and being extremely careful about my nut allergies. I also wanted to mention that there is no access to the hotel by car, so you will have to unload your luggage near Hotel Savoya and hire a porter service, which costs about $10/suitcase one-way; for us that service was fast and efficient. Call the hotel when you are on your way to request a porter to greet you upon arrival and take your bags to Bucca Di Bacco. Also, I would like to mention that since the hotel is located near the main hub of Positano, it not unusual to hear some hustle-and-bustle from the street below late into the night. Also the Club on the Rocks music happily drifts over to the hotel, but not so much so that one can’t sleep. I also reccomend to keep your balcony doors closed to save the room and yourself from hungry mosquitoes, and to keep your room cool. Also, even though we didn’t dine there, the hotel has a very nice restaurant- another convenience for you. We will definitely be staying at the Bucca Di Bacco again in the future!!
