Biscuits
It's the grits and biscuits for me!!! I've heard so many GREAT things about this restaurant and finally got a chance to try it and I'm glad I did. During a stay in NYC I dined here for brunch, and it was everything! After perusing the menu, l opted for the jumbo shrimp and grits (my mouth is watering as I write this). The grits were heavenly, some of the best l've ever had. And the shrimp were huuuuge and delicious. The dish also came with a biscuit that was out of this world. The service was great and staff went above and beyond.
Be the first to ReplyNice for Brunch after Gospel Mass in Harlem. Good but noisy music. Tasty typical American dishes
Farewell family brunch to New York after 5 days of stay and after a gospel mass in a nearby church in Harlem. Pretty well priced
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed Dinner
I recently visited Blvd Bistro this past weekend July 23, 2023. I made a reservation because , it was my mate birthday and we had just furnished moving furniture from one location to another, and definitely needed to take a break. The atmosphere was very crowded and reservation was made for 7:15 pm. We were seated promptly and ordered about 15 mins into being seated.. After almost what seem liked one hour the owner approached us to tell us that the two entrees was not available but only for one person. I then purchased another substitute to other item in the menu. It was disappointing to say the least, but we finished our dinner and and requested the tab.. To my surprise the item was was no longer was still on the tab which I requested to be removed, prior to that the waiter had stated he was no told by the owner that the dinner preferred was no longer and he apologized.. I check the tablet and asked that he correct and he did and showed me the new amount I signed and left. I look at my credit card purchase in my back a few days later and saw I was charged more for our dinner . I am truly upset because I paid the waiter cash tip and to see that this place is not honest, I will not be suggesting this place. I reach out and left a message and the host Patricia said that the manager would call me back, days later and I have not receive a call as yet.. This is very dishonest and should be a shame if this behavior

Love this place! Food is always tasty and service is excellent. We ordered a carafe of the Blood Orange Mimosas (delicious). The grits are to die for. Friends were visiting from Cali and they loved the Fried Chicken, Okra and Yams.

Ok let me just say this as food critic "Foodie on Duty"....when you stay ready you don't have to get and that is what Blvd Bristro in Harlem did. "READY". The collards, fried chicken, Catfish, potato salad, shrimp and grits were well seasoned and tasty. The mac-n-cheese was better than Hell"s Kitchen...just saying. Auntie must have made it. The atmosphere was live. Felt like I was at a party. Staff was very accommodating especially Chef Carlos.
Be the first to ReplyShameful Thanksgiving 2022 Experience - With No Accountability
So, where should I start?! We (my mom, husband, 7-year-old and myself) arrived for our 6pm Thanksgiving reservations and were told there were no seats available. The hostess suggested that we sit at the bar on stools. We told her it was unacceptable solution. We also mentioned that we PAID ($51.50) for reservations – which means they should have seats available for us in the dining room! Her response “everyone here has reservations, so you can sit on the stool our wait until another table finishes their meal.” This should have been a foreshadowing of what was to come. My mom saw an empty table in the middle of the dining room with 3 chairs. She asked them to add another chair so we could sit there. Our waitress came 20 mins later. We placed our drink order and she said she would return with our biscuits and take our Thanksgiving prefix order. 20 mins later she returned with our drinks – but she still didn’t bring our biscuits or salads. She the salad was coming, and a pan of biscuits was baking and would be available shortly. 15 mins later, a manager (older man) came over and said the short ribs we ordered ran out so they would make us ribeye steak instead. I knew that would take some time to make, so I asked them to bring out the Turkey dinner for my mom and son because everyone was starving at this point. 10 minutes later, the same manager returned and said they “found” two short rib meals. That alone gave us pause – you “found” two more!!! At this point, still no biscuits. Our waitress said “It’s coming…” obviously annoyed with me asking again. The salad was good, however, the serving we all received (4 people) added up the ONE (1) serving based on what we saw at other tables. We realized they may be running out of food, and we were now paying the price. Our food finally came out and my husband and I were immediately irate. The short ribs meal was so salty, it was not edible. My husband has high cholesterol and was in the hospital for it last year, so we would never eat that. To make matters worse, the sharable sides they placed on the table were ONLY enough for one person. We saw what was placed on other tables – THREE OF EACH!!! They gave a table of 4 one each. I complained to our waitress. She gave a BS response and that irritated me even more. I told her we saw what other tables received, so we would prefer her to be honest instead of placating us!!! I saw a white couple behind us, and they didn’t look happy. I saw the table of six next to us and they were not happy. That table of six proceeded to share this disappointment, so we knew we were not the problem – I asked for the manager at this point. Another manager (younger man) came over, and listen to my valid complaint. I talked about the table situation, not receiving any biscuits at this point, salad scraps, sides that would never feed 4, and salty food. He acknowledged that the short ribs were salty because all tables were complaining. I asked him “why would you serve this to us if you knew it was not worthy to serve anyone!!!! He said for our trouble, we would remove the $51.50 deposit (which was not deducted from our bill but in addition to our bill!). I told him that was unacceptable. He then said he would take off 25% of our total bill. I asked him to send over our waitress so we can place our dessert order TO GO. Our waitress came 15 mins later and said “we apologize, we ran out of biscuits so we don’t have any to give you.” I said, “we knew you ran out over an hour ago. We also saw that the white couple and Asian couple that came in after us got their food first, including their biscuits and desert. We came here to support our black people and you treated us like second-class citizens.” She brushed off what I said and place a small to-go container on the table. The content looked like scraps of food from the bottom of a tray. It was the last of the cobbler. I told her we did not want that – that is not the dessert we wanted to order as part of the prefix – we wanted two sweet potato pies and two chocolate cakes. She looked at me with a straight face and said, “we ran out of dessert – this is all that we have." I immediately told her to call her manager over or we would walk out of there and file a complaint. 10 minutes later, the older manager came and said “I called the owner. She said you can leave everything on the table and leave!” I was taken aback by this aggression – the other tables were as well. We had the worst dining experience of our lives, and the accountable party made us feel like we were the villains. We were livid! I grabbed our coats and walked out. Another manager came over to my husband and tied to apologize – while the other managers were standing in a corner shooting my husband the evilest looks. You were all terrible people last night. You ruined our experience. We will NEVER return. We will NEVER recommend it. We will always have disdain for this establishment. And we are profoundly disappointed because supporting black is what we love to do. We are disappointed in your lack of accountability, humility, and understanding. Such a shame!

Booked a table for Sunday brunch (booking essential at this time) and we weren’t disappointed! Great atmosphere with a DJ - not at all too loud and our server was ace! She really looked after us. We shared the French toast and blueberry pancakes and I have to say they were amazing! Probably the best meal I had in NYC. Highly recommend but please book.

After waiting 45 minutes to be seated, it took another 20 minutes to place our order and 30 minutes after that to get the food. Good wasn’t bad but was expecting better from the reviews. Don’t recommend unless you’ve got several hours and a lot of patience.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Sunday Brunch in Harlem
Fantastic dining experience for Sunday brunch. We are greeted so warmly by the host and floor manager Kayveon. They both kindly offered to take our small pieces of luggage and store them. I recommend arriving early to minimize waiting. This is a very popular restaurant. Our server Conrad went above and beyond to accommodate our party. The food was delicious. After dining we ordered additional entrees to take on our travels. The DJ was awesome, he creates an environment of joy and happiness. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxed. Go for the food you will stay for the service and atmosphere. Try the Prosecco and mango for a new twist on mimosa.
Be the first to ReplyGet the blueberry pancakes
Ate at this Bistro with family while visiting Harlem. Oh. My. Goodness. The food was soooo good. I mean everything we ordered was good. Our group of four ordered Blueberry pancakes and bacon: catfish and grits; hash brown skillet with eggs and bacon; and chicken and biscuits. All of our food was cooked deliciously. The pancakes and biscuits melted in your mouth. Per my sister, the grits were cheesy melt in your mouth good. The Catfish was cooked to perfection with a delicious biscuit. I highly recommend paying the two extra dollars for the blueberry compote for your pancakes. Our server, Conrad was very hospitable and warm. He helped us decide on our food. He even obliged and took pics for us. The food came out quickly and was good and hot. The condiments (maple butter, syrup, hot sauce) were in ramekins on the side. I have nothing negative to say. Check it out.

Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food, If You Can Get Past the Service
I have dined at BLVD Bistro many times when it was located on Lenox Avenue and most recently, in it's new location on 116th Street. I was excited for the location change, as it is a larger space and not located in a basement. However, the capacity is still out of line with the demand, especially on weekends. The food is excellent. I have brought many people to dine here and the feedback is typically positive. You are unlikely to be disappointed with your meal. However, the satisfaction of your meal is often overshadowed by poor service and management that is greatly in need of improvement. On a recent visit, I made advance reservations for a group of about 15 for a weekend brunch, as we were celebrating a relative's anniversary. Upon arrival, the staff was completely unprepared for us and actually showed surprise that we had arrived on time. The entry area was packed body to body with those who could not fit standing outside. Trying to get to the host was an exercise in patience and skill. After speaking with at least 4 different staff members (including a manager), waiting over an hour, and receiving excuse after excuse as to why we had not been seated yet (and failure to provide any accurate ETA for seating), we left and went across the street to Harlem Tavern. At BLVD, we were told that our group was supposed to be set up in the back room which is a semi-private space but that a group of ladies had been dining at one of the larger tables there for several hours, "dragging out" their brunch and that they could not ask them to leave. That came across as mismanagement and poor operations and none of us had any confidence that waiting around another half hour would have resulted in any different outcome. Our departure was highly unfortunate considering the amount that our group would have spent. Even worse, I had raved to my relatives about how good the food was but after the experience, none of them had any desire to return. I'm still rooting for BLVD Bistro to get it together and live up to their potential but from what I can tell, they're just not there yet.
