What a COOL looking restaurant - Like Sitting on the Bayou
It looks like you are eating outside even though you are inside. A river runs along side the eating area with boats of people. Turns out the ride is the start of Pirates of the Caribbean! The food we had was very good and the ambience was really cool. One of us had a filet with deviled crab on top - it was fantastic! Everyone else’s food was delicious as well. The service was perfect. A really fun atmosphere, but it is dark with cook lights hanging overhead.

If it's one thing Disney does well it's food. (Provided you are willing to pay extremely excessive prices) The food was AMAZING My family had the roast chicken, gumbo, kids menu spaghetti, the prime rib, and the filet minion, with chocolate cheesecake for desert. The ambiance was fun, the server was attentive and read his tables very well. Best experience we had in the parks (Ask for a water table, it's worth the extra wait)

We love the ambiance at this restaurant, and it is a favorite for special celebrations. Service is always excellent, and love that they accommodate dietary restrictions exceptionally well. The gluten free, plant based creme brûlée is amazing. Wish the menu had more variety... but the fact that they work well with dietary restrictions trumps the limited menu.
Be the first to ReplyCheck in was a little rough good thing the food is great
Ok the food was phenomenal. But we had a reservation. I checked in online. We got a text that “it was time to dine!” We tried to talk to a guy at the door who was swarmed with walk ins. He said if you got a text then go inside and wait to get called. We waited a long time. Finally another lady with an iPad called our name and she got us officially “in line” but then we sat longer as every walk in we saw stroll up got seated before us. So that was disorganized and disappointing. Well we learned, don’t waste your time checking in online, just talk to a person with a tablet. But the food was great. We couldn’t see the pirate ride at all. Will dine there again but we are from Indiana so it will be awhile. AND I’ll handle the check in differently. Seems to me people with reservations should ALWAYS be taken before walk ins are seated.
Be the first to Reply5/5 I always try to get a reservation here when we’re at Disneyland!
As long as you follow the instructions on getting a reservation here, you will have no problem getting one at the time you want. We opted for an 11am time as we wanted the best opportunity to get into the water cue. We sat water side, ordered the bayou lemonade with the glow cube to drink. Our family had one vegetarian, and we love that there are a few plant based options to choose from. Our server was incredible and so was the food!

Disappointing experience. We were able to get a 9:30pm reservation which was a huge mistake. It’s obvious the staff was ready to go home. Our server Traci was NOT happy to be there. She shouldn’t be working at the happiest place on earth. She was rude, hurried us through. We were seated snd check in hand in 40 minutes. Not the experience we were hoping for. Food was just okay. We went for the experience and atmosphere. We would have been better off with the corn dogs on the street. Traci ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful night with family celebrating our son’s birthday. We won’t be back and I would not recommend it to others.

Nice table by the water. Friendly and efficient waiter. Food was good. I had the creole chicken and creme brûlée, friend had the filet and chocolate tart. Both meals and desserts were good. The Hurricanes were divine! Yum!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Cuisine - FINALLY!!
We were amazed!!! After years of below par, lackluster cuisine, The Blue Bijou FINALLY has an amazing chef serving fantastic food! This signature, premium in-park dining location finally has a menu and delicious food to match its beautiful setting. From our perfectly balanced, crisp and delicious salad of toasted quinoa, blue cheese, grapes and cranberries, to our creative and top notch sea bass with shaved fresh coconut, peanuts, dried fruit and a complex tropical blure blanc, and our sublime basque cheesecake - it was outstanding. Yes, it is very expensive, but the quality matches the cuisine. Our server was also outstanding, brining us a beautiful plate of fresh lemons and a mound of fresh mint to supplement our party’s mint juleps. Our only disappointment was the lackluster bread service for an astronomical $12 - it was undersized and underwhelming. It did however, include my favorite French butter. So rush to this bright star of Disneyland food offerings before management transfers this talented chef somewhere else, because this is FINALLY the food quality this location deserves to serve. Bravo.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place with average food
The Blue Bayou is located in Disneyland, if you don't have a Disneyland Park ticket you are not getting in. Make reservations and make them as soon as you make your park reservations. Even then you will still be waiting. It is next to impossible to get a table without a reservation. It is considered fine dinning and the prices reflect that, you will spent at least 50$ per person just for an entrée. If you want a starter or dessert that is going to cost you more. Their drinks are very pricey. All of it is over priced and I would never go except for the beauty of the place. That is the reason to go. Inside it is super pretty and you will be able to see the Pirates of the Caribbean ride go by. It looks like a lovely lake and it is quiet and peaceful. After a day of rides and junk food, you will be happy to be there. The food is average. It is a limited menu. If you are vegan or vegetarian don't bother. There is not one thing on the menu that you could not get at a good moderate priced place. The food looks pretty, it just is not great. Nonetheless, we have been many times. We love the break from the noise and the quiet of the man made lake. It really is quite beautiful. The service is fine, nothing to scream home about. They come get your order, drop it and you may not see them again. They need to work on this and hire more people. So, I just said a lot of things that may make you want to run, but go once and not only will you know what I mean, you will also be able to check it off your bucket list.

Be the first to ReplyDisappointing dinner celebration
Excited to finally eat at this iconic restaurant for my daughters birthday. Made reservations two months out. Arrived a little early and had to wait for our table though walk-ins we’re being seated. Table was next to restroom and server station. Our server seemed in a hurry, was not friendly, messed up our order and forgot we ordered dessert. Our incorrect entrees were served an hour after we ordered. When desserts came out they were plopped on the table (the macaroons in a generic plastic box) with no mention of happy birthday to my daughter (the reason for the special occasion). They did take off the forgotten desserts and discounted our late food and incorrect entrees. Very disappointed and won’t be back. There are much better experiences at city walk and around the theme parks.
Be the first to Replyvery disappointing experience
There is a wait in a lobby that is lacking in adequate seating. After walking around the park all day, we had to sit on the carpet until our table was ready. Inside the restaurant was gorgeous! But it was completely FREEZING!!!! It was colder inside than outside and it was around 59/60 degrees for a high that day. EVERY single person in the restaurant that had a coat was wearing it while they were eating! Puffy coats everwhere. I finally told my server that it was uncomfortably cold in there here is her response - server: "I am not cold . . . but I am running around." (ie lacking in all empathy me: do you see everyone in their coats? server: well it is cold outside. me: it is cold in here. server: I think Florida controls the temperature of this restaurant." Wow. It is extremely uncomfortable eating while you are freezing. there are very few entree options, really only one for vegetarians.$28 of pasta. Really expensive considering I was uncomfortable the entire time. Will not return.
Be the first to ReplyVery fun experience.
The check in guy was really rude and made me stand in the rain while he fiddled with his tablet and claimed he couldn’t find my reservation that I made 60 days ago despite the confirmation on my app and trying to give him a confirmation number, after almost one whole minute of looking he brushed me aside and moved on to someone else. Once I was finally allowed in by another cast member we really enjoyed our dinner, the food was good and the service was great, it made our visit to Disneyland that much more special.
Be the first to ReplyRuined by a fire alarm (which happens more than I realized)
Our meal (daughter’s actual birthday) was cut short by a fire alarm somewhere in the block of buildings. It forced evacuation of the Pirates ride too. We were kicked out, then sent further away, then even further away, then told to stand near the water’s edge on the other side of the park masses. After waiting with no updates, we simply left. Nobody apologized (they seemed very disorganized at the restaurant) and we never got contacted even though they had all my info. I’ve since read this happens every so often and the response is similar each time (which annoys me even more). Not sure I’d trust coming here for an important celebration.
Be the first to ReplyWaste of time and money.
Had looked forward to eating at the Blue Bayou for a long time. I should have kept it on my wishlist and not actually gone. The waitresses were not overly friendly and the food was total overpriced rubbish. Were do I start? My chicken was totally overcooked and dry. Looks like it had sat in some kind of heatbox for hours. The kids meals were appalling. So disappointed. Disney, if you going to offer higher end dining, please up your game. It's not hard, lot's of other places manage.
Be the first to ReplyUsed to love it, now I just like it
There was a hiccup with us checking in with a reservation made months in advance. We noticed walk ins were getting assigned tables before us. I double checked with another staff member who realized we were missed. A little unorganized but was pleasantly surprised we were seated by the water, but near the kitchen. Lots of foot traffic going past our table with waiters carrying trays. Not exactly peaceful but we carried on. I had to skip the prime rib due to a mushroom allergy and the New Year's eve special of beef bourginon for the same reason. Ended up ordering a gem salad (which was quite good and later realized it was the only picture I took of the food!) and the creole chicken with rice. I want a whole plate of that rice! It was the highlight of the dish. The shrimp included was too salty and the chicken was bone in, skin on thigh. Good, but not much meat. I loved the dining experience, but miss previous menus with filet mignon, steak, lobster, whole chicken, mashed potatoes? (I might be mistaking this for Club 33), and fresh vegetables. I could be wrong, but I suspect the veggies were frozen. The portions have shrunk, the menu shrunk, but the prices have gone up. Still very good for theme park food, but I miss what Blue Bayou used to be. I'll still go, but may join the walk up list. They seemed to get seated faster!
Be the first to ReplyBad Food
To be fair I had read several reviews warning me about the terrible food. It’s TRUE! I still wanted to go for the experience. The experience was cool except the pirates ride was not accepting passengers at the time of our meal unfortunately. So that adds to the lack of stars. I had the Creole Chicken it was ok, but not worth the cost. My mom had the Monte Cristo Sandwich which was not good. They use the cheapest turkey and ham available and want a premium price. If you have kids I don’t recommend this restaurant they don’t have the have the best kids menu and again for the cost to have your kids pick at their food go somewhere else.

This used to be a favorite and a go-to for all of my Disney trips. I was so excited when I was able to snag a reservation since I knew they were hard to get. I booked this for myself, my new husband (who had never been to Disneyland before), and my folks to have dinner our first night. I don't know what happened between my last visit in 2015 and my visit last week, but this isn't what it used to be and it broke my heart. The food wasn't bad, but the menu selections were so limited from what used to be offered. Our service was terrible as well. Our waiter barely checked on us. I know they get busy, my husband and I both worked in the restaurant industry, but to see our waiter maybe twice in the span of over an hour didn't seem like typical Disney service. He was clearly stressed and rushed because he barely said but a few words to us. I was super disappointed. This is no longer worth the money I was willing to pay for years and years of dining. You're paying for the ambience and that's about it. I don't think we'll be booking again in the future unless I see or hear of some changes that might sway me to. Save your money and dine elsewhere.

Dec 2022. Tried to book this restaurant in Disneyland 60 days out and no luck. Went to the resort they had a walk up available but they can not accommodate 8 adults and two children under 5. I witnessed over 3 days they were taking groups of 6 and groups of 4. I even mentioned to them we could split up. No luck. I am not happy! My family and I have been to Disney resorts both parks approximately 20 times. This Christmas trip we spent over $20,000. Disney you just lost a valued customer. Best Regards, Roy
Be the first to ReplyIf you like Cafeteria Food, eat here
We've always eaten at the Blue Bayou when visiting Disneyland. For this trip, I worked very hard to get a reservation, ending up with an 8:50pm start time. We arrived early, but didn't get seated until 9: 25pm. Beware....you are simply paying exorbitant prices for the pleasure of eating mass produced food served in the Pirates of the the Caribbean attraction. This used to be a White Table Cloth experience with very good food. The table cloths are gone!!!! The cafeteria tables are crammed in together....the service is not good. We had the Gumbo Starter. I literally laughed when they brought it to the table in the smallest bowl I've ever seen. Three spoonfuls and it was gone! I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. We all ordered the Pasta dish. Which appeared to be mass produced. Some bites of my pasta were warm, some were cold. I asked for (was not offered) parmesan cheese. The waiter simply dropped a bowl with two Kraft Grated Cheese packets on our cafeteria table then turned his back and ran away. Our cafeteria table did not have any salt or pepper shakers. We were not offered any bread, as was standard protocol in the past. I really missed it, since I ordered the pasta and had no way to scoop up the sauce on my plate. This place is so not worth it anymore....It used to be a decadent adventure, but was worth it. However, just like everything Modern-Day-Disney, it is just another overblown monetization of Walt Disney's dreams. SKIP! SKIP! SKIP! YOU WILL LEAVE HUNGRY.
Be the first to ReplyBest Disney Meal This Trip
We had an incredible meal here! Both of us had the flat iron steak and we split an order of gumbo fries(very shareable portion). Meal and appetizer was phenomenal…I really can’t say anything more. This was simply a great meal and the ambiance is amazing with a front row view of the Louisiana portion of pirates of the Caribbean.
Be the first to ReplyGreat staff and atmosphere
Last visit here pre covid wasn’t great, staff was inattentive and curt, menu portions had been reduced and the salad with your entree eliminated, we weren’t planning to as a result incur the expense of another visit. But Covid happened and as this was our first big vacation since so the kids really wanted to try it again.
Luckily we were able to get a reservation, unfortunately it was for dinner but a quick look at the menu at the time included the kids favorite sandwich the “monte cristo” so we planned to go ahead and eat there even though dinner is much more expensive than lunch. As our actual arrival date neared we looked over the menu and realized they had pulled the sandwich from the menu, big disappointment and we almost ended up not going at all; great atmosphere but it’s a pretty steep cost to eat ok food (based on other reviews) that no one in our group was that excited about.
We decided to grab dinner elsewhere at the park and just go for drinks and dessert. Our experience was the polar opposite from our last visit. Check in was busy as normal but they seemed to have staff ready to make sure you didn’t end up waiting, we arrived right behind two other groups and Doc who I assume must be one of the managers stepped out to greet us and get us checked in. My kids have been here enough to have preferences on where to sit and he was able to accommodate their requests and stopped by the table a time or two to check in. The wait staff was fantastic, the drinks and dessert were great and the atmosphere is hard to beat.
We made sure to leave a larger tip that would have reflected a typical dinner bill so the staff wasn’t shortchanged by us only getting dessert and drinks. Loved that they still used a menu which is largely absent at the resort now.
Once a choice restaurant, now... not so much!
We are from S. Cal and have been to Disneyland way more than I can count. Each visit we always eat at Blue Bayou even if we have to wait standby. It is atmospheric and is actually part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Designed to look like an evening outdoors next to a bayou in New Orleans. Food has always been good (though pricey) and service outstanding.
However, things have very much changed (and it hurts to write so such a negative review). Our reservations got us immediate seating. I could see the number of tables were fewer (likely as a result of the pandemic and social distancing - thank you for that). Service was not only slow it was disturbing. My wife asked for a straw. Took a long time to get waiters attention. He gave her one that was bent up. She asked for another and he reached in a pocket under his arm pit and gave her one that was bent, soaked in sweat and smelled of body odor. My daughter asked for bread and he said they no longer have bread service. Service was extremely slow, food was no where near what it was but prices were very, very much higher than the high prices they once charged. Our memory of the body odor straw and the indifferent service, though, is what we will remember. Next day we ate at a restaurant right next door to the blue bayou (Cafe Orleans). Much simpler than Blue Bayou but the service was outstanding and the food good and the prices were well below Blue Bayou. Not sure what has happened to our favorite Restaurant Blue Bayou but we will not be coming back.
Fun, memorable place to eat!
This was our 2nd visit here. It is definitely a must! It is difficult to get a reservation, unless you do it months ahead of time, but we managed to stop in while at the park a few times in one day to see if they had any cancellations or openings. We finally got into a time slot. One young man working there was particularly helpful and courteous. He went above and beyond to get us in. The experience is fun and food is fabulous! It is a bit spendy, but if your going to splurge this is the place to do it.
Be the first to ReplyFound a BOLT in my food
My mother and I went for her first visit in over 15 years and though "this will be so special". How absolutely terrible it was. Mainly because my mother found in her jambalaya an industrial sized metal BOLT in her food. If I would not have seen it, she would have either bit or swallowed it.
Our waiter was such a sweetheart, and we didn't want him penalized or anything. The restaurant "was so gracious" to comp her meal. Nothing else, although we were sweet and did not raise a stink about it that's literally all they did. So, for about $80 dollars we got a meal, that was not eaten as both of us were grossed out and really not hungry after that experience.
To the service they were absolutely great!!! To Disney and whoever runs that restaurant I was in disbelief at the blatant disregard about the matter. So, for what was supposed to be a memorable experience it was, in all the WRONG ways. Buyer beware, because who knows maybe you'll get the screw in your meal that this bolt fell off.
