I want to honestly say that I've driven by Kasama (Chicago)
I want to honestly say that I've driven by Kasama (Chicago) at least 10 times and the line is like 50 people deep every time. So what a Great experience it is to just randomly select and walk into Bibo Madrid (also Michelin rated) and be seated immediately, wow!! FYI, I guess this is a restaurant where there's a lack diversity in diners. There was a family in front of us and the dad turned around and looked at us/me and he had a look of complete fear. I must of looked like a really hangry uncle Roger. Anyway, the interior was very unique and whimsical, especially with the bahr in the center of the restaurant and the balloon......Keep that in mind, you'll see a balloon at the end of your exceptional meal (see pic)..:) We had the foie gras encrusted in goat cheese, the conjunda (chorizo) brioche, rabo (oxtail) brioche, tempura tiger prawns (skip if you're stuck on Japanese tempura) and for the grande finale - the Mirabella Sun (an orange sphere filled with citrusy cream. The Sun was artistic, befuddling when it first came out and just a pleasure to eat. The rabo sandwich with DG sauce (whatever that means) was incredibly scrumptious, I could have had ten of those brioches!! There's also complimentary gazpacho soup and bread that was very good (I didn't order it but they'll charge you for it). I'm not into cold soup, even on a hot day. Our server was very friendly and helpful and with his limited English and my limited Spanish, I would say his recommendations were 80% on target.

Bibo has lost its splendor, quality and attention to service. Skip this restaurant and go for a quality restaurant or traditional Spanish cuisine elsewhere. Bibo is loud, food is mediocre and service is very poor.

As fans of Casa Dani - and Dani Garcia - we could not pass up an opportunity to eat at BiBo here in Madrid. We were not disappointed. The food was equally amazing, both creative and delicious. You must order one of Dani's tuna dishes. The service was terrific. The room is bright and festive. A great choice.

Service was amazing! They knew exactly how to time all the food. The food was spectacular. The lobster was the best I have ever had and I've been to a lot of places. Be adventurous and you will be so pleasantly surprised
Be the first to ReplyFood: Heaven.
I ordered broccolini and kale salad. It was large and fresh- tasting. The lemon and mustard dressing really was amusing for my mouth. They started off our lunch with tomato gazpacho and rustic bread with butter. I kept dipping the bread in the gazpacho but I was told, when I enquired later, that dipping bread in gazpacho is certainly rule breaking. Service The service was quick and responsive but it was us making it quick and not our servers. As in, they were not at all rushing us and would have given us more time to enjoy. They were, the team, delightful. Smiling, talking to my son, asking if we needed anything etc. Ambiance Adorable. There is lighting all over the ceiling and the hot air balloon theme was heart warming. While I was wearing a dress, some in our party were in sweats and felt underdressed. The bathroom was stylish and included a changing table with everything needed and diapers of different sizes. Imagine this in the states? I can't imagine it. What a lovely lunch.

Very hip place with highly stylized menu options and excellent service. When price is no matter, you should enjoy the unique cuisine and trendy ambiance. We felt very welcome by our server.

Wines choices were good. We had 2 tapas and duck for lunch. Very filling.I really liked the duck.

Atmosphere was amazing, drinks were "eh" tasting with outstanding presentations. Food presentation was amazing and loved tempura king prawns. My wife liked everything a lot, k was not the biggest fan personally. One point I noticed and didn't like was that we ordered a bottle of sparkle if water. As we drank it, they came and brought 4 additional bottles (without request) over the course of the night and then charged us for all 5 bottles). One should ask first if someone would like another bottle before bringing one if they are to be charged.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful place with wonderful décor and ambience, great
A beautiful place with wonderful décor and ambience, great presentation of food but for a Michelin star chef's restaurant in an international city like Madrid, BUT ultimately English comprehension challenges eventually resulted in a rather unhappy visit. I am a native English speaker with a rather plain American accent, I also speak some conversational Spanish.I made a reservation for myself fully expecting to be seated at the bar given how nearly full they were at time of booking, but get a table instead of a bar seat and was delighted. The lighting and décor were exquisite. The food and presentation similarly so, though I should have trusted my instincts and gone with the sea bass instead of the duck. The waitress recommended the duck, so I thought why not, and then asks if I wanted it done medium. I am not familiar with eating incompletely cooked poultry so I said well done and it turned out rather tough to chew on (well done is does not equal stiff... it is VERY possible to cook duck fully and have it still achieve the perfect texture that gives way in weaves of fiber to the bite). Anyway there are different styles of cooking, I made a bad choice, but still having a great experience.I finish my meal being VERY full, ask for the check and go to the bathroom for a few minutes. When I come back I figured there would be a check on my table (this being a very busy and popular place after all), but instead my entire table had been cleared out and there were two new customers seated where I was seated. I thought to myself "oh, I guess I should just find a waiter to tell them I need to pay," so I did, found a waiter I had seen before and told him this in English. He apologized, which felt appropriate as I literally lost my seat and was standing awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant, and he offered to serve me a drink on the house, I told him I appreciate the gesture but I am very full. He then asked again if there was anything else he could offer me, I said no but if he wanted to he could just take the cocktail I already had for dinner off the bill. He nods and seats me at the bar and asks me to wait. He talks to the bartender across the bar, and comes back and says "we will give you another drink, OK?" and I clarified that I did NOT want another drink, repeating that I was too full and I just wanted to pay so I can leave. He nods and said yes, but I wasn't sure he understood me, so I said in Spanish, "estoy completamente lleno, no lo quiero" (I am completely full, I don't want it), and gestured saying no drink. He said "lleno" rubbed his belly understandingly and left me be at the bar. I wait patiently for someone to bring me the check. 5 minutes pass by, then 10, then 15, then 20, then 25. I start to feel like I am being held hostage by this unpaid bill, very much wishing to get on my way already. At that point the bartender gets ready to light a cocktail and said it was for me, and in exasperation, I told him I didn't want it. I asked to speak to the manager, who was appropriately apologetic, and I told him what happened (he was already aware) and that additionally now I had waited 25 minutes just to pay and leave. I had explained that I had offered if they wanted to, to just take the drink off my bill for taking my seat/table away from me while I was in the bathroom, but now additionally I had to wait 25 minutes. He nodded and said he would do that and came back with a bill, minus the drink. I paid for an appetizer and main course including bread service and VAT, and it was 41.50 euro. Forget about any tip. Then I thought, on the bright side, not bad for dining at a Michelin star restaurant. I paid the bill but still felt rather unhappy. Losing my seat first then having the waiter misunderstand me after I tried to communicate in both English and Spanish, then sitting uncomfortably at the bar where I didn't belong for almost half an hour, what a way to treat a customer. On my way out, I spoke with the manager to let him know it was initially quite a happy solo dining experience at the recommendation of a friend from Madrid, but in the end I could feel my patience and understanding wearing down. I told him explicitly, "I just want to let you know not to be surprised to see a negative review online." He apologized, said he would talk to his colleague, and didn't ask to see what he could do to set things straight. I was literally holding a 41.50 euro receipt. Who knows, maybe it was worth 41.50 euro to them to earn the negative review. In the end, I didn't make him the offer to cover the bill and call it even, as it wasn't a matter of money for me and I wanted to pay for the meal that I had and figured this review would be cathartic. Initially hyper excited, initially very impressed, then the house of cards fell apart when this fancy upscale Michelin star restaurant in an international city could not staff with enough English competency leading to misunderstanding and needless unhappiness. Beware.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, Poor Service.
The beautiful floral and whimsical ambiance of BiBo made me feel like I was a celebrity and this was the spot to be at. Aside from the nice location and outstanding decor the food was tasty and satisfying. The mix of flavors danced across my palate and the presentation of each dish was *chef's kiss* (icing on the cake). I would like to highlight that the oxtail (both the ravioli and brioche) was delightful and appetizing. The oxtail was tender and just melted in your mouth like butter and was filled with so much flavor that I couldn't get enough. Even though the food and ambiance was simply terrific, I can't say the same for the service. Due to the lack of effective communication and teamwork, the service at BiBo was disappointing and not one that I would expect from a 3 Star Michelin Chef's restaurant. To start, my table had ordered two Caesar salads (one with chicken and one without). The maître d' assistant assigned to our table, Makarena, was in charge of making the Caesar salad for our table. Once completing the salad she then plates only one Caesar salad at the table. It wasn't until our maître d', Paula, tells Makarena that we ordered 2 salads and the order was supposed to be split. She returns to our table and proceeds to take the already placed salad and splits the salad on the side to make 2 salads. From my understanding, the fact that the salad was already placed on the table means that it shouldn't be touched again unless it's to be thrown out due to cross contamination, so we should have received a new salad.Another "incident" during our meal was that Makarena took away our focaccia and gazpacho without asking if we were done with our plates first. Once our main dishes arrived they were all placed on the table in front of the wrong person, so we had to play hot potato and move the dishes accordingly. Furthermore, I was celebrating my birthday and decided to order a dessert to share with my family. I was enjoying my dessert, but before I could finish it, Makarena again took the plate away and discarded it without asking if we were finished and she could take it away. Another thing I would like to add is that our maître d' Paula didn't even tell us her shift was ending and she was done for the day, so when we were looking for her to get our bill and pay she was nowhere to be found and when we asked for her the staff didn't seem to know who we were talking about. It gave the impression that they don't know who they are working with or which tables have been assigned to who. I expected a better service from BiBo and was quite disappointed that even after we spoke to the manager Milo we didn't receive any apology from Makarena, Milo, or Paula and we had to wait an extremely long time to get our bill which was also not correct and needed to be corrected a few times. In my opinion, the staff at BiBo needs clearer and better leadership. The managers at BiBo should pay more attention to their staff and the service. Just because Chef Dani Garcia has an elite status doesn't not mean that the service of his restaurant can be any less than perfect. Laziness is no excuse -- especially when we, as consumers, are expected to pay the price of such service.
Be the first to ReplyToday 3/21/22 at 3:15pm was our reservation for 8 people.
Our reservation was made over a month ago since we were visiting Madrid for 2 days for my niece's 23rd birthday. My niece picked the place because of Dani Garcia reputation as a Michelin star chef with €€€€ 4 Euro sign. The location of our table was in the corner by the service door which 1 of the seat had to be repositioned several times during the course of the meal so as not to be in the way of the wait staff. It took 10 minutes for Paula to introduce herself to our table. She started by taking our beverages orders, starters, and main course. My boyfriend asked Paula if possible to have 3 separate bills for each family (2, 2, and 4) which we motioned to Paula who were in the group. Paula replied "no problem'. I can't emphasize enough how delicious the food we ordered and the food presentation was very nice. But the service was unsatisfactory and unacceptable. The wait staff lacked communication, team work, and proper training on customer service. The following failed service were as follows:1) as we ate the starters Macarena took my sister's foie gras appetizer plate filled with thin bread without asking if she was finished. 2) Macarena also took my bread plate with butter and piece of bread without asking if I was finished. 3) As Macarena prepared the Cesar salad beside our table for show, she placed all the salad with chicken on 1 plate and served to my brother. Then 2 minutes later she came back and tried to explain in broken English that the Cesar salad was to be split with my sister without chicken. Macarena took the plate back and returned with 2 salad plates. My sister's salad plate was a mess. Also this was unsanitary since my brother already started to eat the salad in the first place. What happened to sanitary service since we're in the middle of COVID pandemic? All of the above we tried to overlooked since we were really enjoying the delicious food. But we finally reached out threshold when 4) Macarena once again took my niece's unfinished dessert without asking if she was finished. My niece was really enjoying her dessert with her cocktail. My sister even approached the manager about the above experienced. No apology or explanation was provided. 5) when we asked for the bill another wait staff brought a bill for EU 349.68. So we asked for Paula so she can give us 3 separate bill. Other wait staff acted like they don't know Paula. Finally we were told that Paula was gone for the day. Mind you we frequent fine establishments and familiar with great service. From our experience Paula should've introduced her replacement prior to leaving her work.6) Another staff brought 3 separate bills with incorrect orders. Also the total of the 3 bills were EU 422. So we asked for the original bill which at this time they could not produce. And out of frustration we decided to just split the bill. I also wanted to add our orders were placed/given to the wrong person. All the wait staff were in a rushed like what you would find in a fast food establishment. We left that place disappointed and dissatisfied. Due to our poor experience, I give it a 1 star.

Service is on par with a fast food restaurant and definitely not what you would expect from what claims to be a "Michelin" starred restaurant.Where to begin?--the online menu took forever to download and the waiter refused to give us printed menus (which they have). As a result, when we ordered our drinks, we had to rely on the waiter's descriptions - which he only provided in Spanish, despite knowing one member of the party only spoke English. As a result, that person had no idea what to order.--EVERY course was delivered to the wrong person and the silverware was also misplaced --the waiter had to write down our orders (I can't remember the last time a waiter at a high-end restaurant was unable to take orders for a table of three without being able to remember the orders)--whenever a member of the party left the table, no one refreshed/refolded their napkins --the entire service was rushed with one server or another asking if we were done yetWith all the remarkable restaurants across Madrid, why waste your time dining at a restaurant that has no clue how to treat its customers?Answer-there is no reason. EAT ANYWHERE ELSE!

Came here for a birthday dinner and was blown away by the beautiful decor. The cocktails were great and served in unique cups. The ceviche and oysters were great. However the tuna tartare was not what I expected. It was just cubes of fish, not tartare at all. I was a bit thrown off by the waiter who kept recommending the most expensive dishes on the menu and even told us we had to get 2 tuna tartares because each dish was only "4 bites". I liked the steak but others thought it was a bit too raw. Since it is a shared dish I think it would have been better if the waiter brought a hot plate to allow everyone to cook to their preferences. Finally, the dessert was beautiful. I definitely recommend Marbella's Sun. Overall Bibo is the perfect place for a special occasion but be careful when following the waiter's recommendations.
Be the first to ReplyExtraordinary venture by star chef Dani Garcia from Malaga.
A super refined visionary and surprising menu. Imaginative decoration of a grand space in an elegant Paseo de la Castellana monumental corner. Great atmosphere. This is a unique establishment. Worth coming in many ways. Only weak point is that it is a bit overpriced for the overall Madrid context.

The setting is chic and cool, but the food doesn't measure up. The hostess was rude, the dishes just ok, yet the bartender "Lucas" was great. We sat bar side and watched him single handedly prepare drink after drink with attention and care. I wouldn't return here.

My friends and I walked over to this restaurant after the football game and we were able to get seated near the bar after 20 min. We were promised a table but they just ended up seating us around the bar which was no problem to us. We ordered the kale salad, cod and some other item which I cant remember the name to. Food was delicious! Service was mediocre. The decor of the restaurant was absolutely beautiful and so was the restroom! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The staff was very accommodating.

The food was good, but after 48 minutes the waitress came to request that we need to paid and leave because they have another seating!!! That was not explain to us, after requesting a 150 euros wine. I couldn't drink it! Worst place to eat in Madrid

My friends and I chose this restaurant because of its reviews and the chef's reputation. We were sorely disappointed. The service was adequate and the ambiance was amazing. However, the food was awful. We waited over 2 hours to be served meat that was so tough, we could hardly cut it, let alone chew it. We ordered the 1 kg of "high quality" beef parrilla to share among the 4 of us. It was €85. We all had very high expectations given the price and the restaurant's reputation. When we informed the waitress, she seemed puzzled but apologetic and allowed us to order another entree. I ordered the filet mignon (solomillo) cooked medium rare. It came burnt with the burned side down- clearly an effort to hide it. We were exhausted from waiting so long that we didn't bother mentioning it.

poor service, good foodComing from out of the country we booked a reservation 2 months ahead of time for our special, Michelin dinner experience in Madrid. It was not a Michelin experience. After arriving on time for our reservation, we were seated an hour late (11pm), then it took 15 minutes to bring us water glasses. We were rushed through our meal, and we received our check 30 minutes after asking for it. The service was intermittent, some of the staff were rude, and offended my family. Not to mention the injustified price tag.Careful booking here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat architecture.
Great style. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. there's nothing about this place you can complain about. It's amazing how many flavours this restaurant can include in one single dish; but the explosion is from another world. The dish i totally recommend are las croquetas de jamón. That's an entry you cannot forget about. There's also a rice pudding dessert with some citric juices, and it's to die for. Seriously, this place is somewhere to go with family, a date, some friends, even alone, you will always enjoy it.
Be the first to ReplyBibo for dinner was an experience.
First, it was open at 730pm and 8pm for a dinner reservation - rare in Madrid. Most restaurants won't open for dinner before 830pm (an odd experience for Americans!). Second, the food was fantastic and the service superb. Had the best gazpacho I've ever had -- a cherry gazpacho. I couldn't even imagine it, but it was great. Had the tuna for entree -- this is a Tuna House of the First Order. The restaurant is Michelin starred and the chef is a television celebrity in Spain.Atmosphere and Ambience -- this place could be the site of a Bond dinner . . . almost casino-like in its energy and vibrance. At 8pm on a Thursday night the place was jumping. A place to see and be seen. Movie star atmosphere. Very unique. I loved the decor and the lighting -- how often do I notice the art-like, monster-sized light fixtures in a restaurant . . . um never.. A truly unique and uplifting experience. Run don't walk to Bibo. I will be back soon.
