My friends and I came here on a Friday afternoon around 6 o'clock. We had no troubles grabbing a table for a party of three. The staff were very friendly and warm in their comfortably and casually decorated environment. For appetizers we got their Shrimp Toast and Fried Tofu Triangles. Both were served with a side of syrup-like sweet chili sauce and came out 5 min after placing the order. I was anticipating the toast to be a bite more crispy but I still enjoyed it more over the tofu just because it had more to it. Especially because it came with the bed of lettuce and cucumber/carrot shreds. I'm a sucker for veggies. Given it was a cold and rainy day, all my friends and I were in the mood for soup. Luckily we picked just the perfect spot. My friends got their Coconut Tom Yum Noodle Soup, Pho Dac Biet Soup after finding out they ran out of their beef stew while I got their Pho Haisan Soup just to see the variety. The Tom yum was aromatic and had an appropriate amount of brine in it. Both pho broths were seasoned well but lacked some body and therefore were not the best I've had. Portions are on the smaller side but had a higher amount of toppings to noodle ratio. Overall, we had a good experience. Given its location and price, I wouldn't mind coming again but would prefer other places closer to Chinatown or Dorchester for something more authentic in terms of pho. Will definitely try their other noodle and rice dishes next time. I recommend to those who need to itch their soup craving in the area!

12/2/22-pho dac biet soup: wanted to give this place a second chance but was pretty disappointed again. i got their pho this time, which had rare eye round, tendon, well-done flank, and tripe. there were also some onions, scallions, and cilantro inside, and bean sprouts, lime, and basil leaves served on the side. while the noodles themselves were fine, there was something off about the broth that i couldn't get over. it had a smoky flavor and wasn't that rich either compared to some other places i've been to. the portion of protein was also lacking in my opinion for $15. i kind of regretted getting this, since it was just an overall not a very satisfying meal.

Keep an eye out for Beantown Pho and Grill the next time you walk down Newbury St. If you're not paying attention, you'll might walk past it without realizing. The place is downstairs/underground so it may be easily overlooked when walking by.We ordered the drunken noodles and pho dac biet and both came out pretty quickly. The drunken noodles had a good chew and a mouthwatering umami taste. The pho broth was hearty and flavorful, which was accompanied by a large assortment of tender beef and perfectly cooked noodles. I heard about this place from my friend's recommendation and it was my first time dining here. From this experience, I would say it's a solid restaurant. The food is yummy, service is quick, and the value isn't bad for a restaurant on Newbury. Definitely would recommend checking it out.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was average at best.
The lime juice was great but my Pad Thai lacked flavor and was congealed when I picked it up for take away.

This is a great pho place! It was a cold fall night and the warm broth really hit the spot. The workers were all kind and attentive. I'll definitely be going again.

Ate there last night and it was amazing! Great portion sizes and fresh ingredients. The staff was super attentive as well and the environment was cute.
Be the first to ReplyI would give 3.
5 stars, specifically for the pho. Food I've tried:- PHO DAC BIET ($14): the portions were very fair, and I enjoyed the noodles which felt extra bouncy. The meat was tender, and there were generous servings of it. The broth was very rich, more so than other places. There was also a herbal note to the broth that I could not quite identify - not necessarily a bad addition, but a detail I pondered about throughout the meal as I could not figure it out. However, I did find the broth to be too sweet. Adding sriracha and hoisin reduced some of the sweetness, but the fattiness of the broth seemed to amplify the sweetness. Atmosphere:- Hole in the wall type vibe, there are a small number of seating both indoors and out.Service:- Waitresses were very friendly, and we got our food surprisingly quick.Overall:- Considering the price for Newbury Street, it is a good place to visit for the value. I did not try the other dishes so I cannot comment, but if I am considering the pho game it was not quite what I personally expected.

Don't be fooled by the name, the restaurant has a wide Thai and Vietnamese menu. We shared the Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, and Vietnamese meat and rice dish. The Pad See Ew was perfect! I recommend it to anyone overwhelmed by the expansive menu. The Limeade was good, but was sweeter than expected. The staff always came to our table with a smile, and service was fast. I will definitely be returning in the future!

We walked into the patio with a party of four and immune compromised friends. Our friends recommended this place and were known to the restaurant we were visiting. They only have two seat tables so we put two tables together. We were immediately told in harsh tone and terms that "putting tables together was absolutely forbidden" what????? When we inquired as to the reason another person came out to tell us the table was broken so we couldn't move it! So we said we would move another table and again we're told that we could NOT put two tables together. How would a larger party be able to dine here? Cannot happen on the patio. After arguing with the wait staff for 10 minutes we got out of there and went down the street and were immediately seated outside at a lovely Italian restaurant. Never going back.
Be the first to ReplyI love Pad Thai, so I decided to drop in for lunch.
The service was quick and friendly and I like there small outdoor dining area. The Pad Thai was just alright. I remember having Pad Thai years ago at a festival and since then I've been hooked. This one didn't give me that sensation and I've had better elsewhere. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 6. It wouldn't stop me from coming back here, as I imagine they make other dishes better.
Be the first to ReplyThe pho dac biet was delectable.
The pho broth is deeply rich and a tiny bit smoky in flavor. It stood great on its own, and when I was halfway through the bowl I added in the sriracha and hoisin sauces to make the remaining bit extra flavorful. The only thing I would change is that the beef slices were not very tender and kind of hard to chew. Ended up discarding them but the rest of the meal was *chefs kiss*.
