Bavaro's Pizza Napoletana & Pastaria St. Petersburg Reviews from The Last Year
Just an Average Visit
Stopped at Bavaro's for a takeaway late lunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and we found the staff who we interacted with to be both friendly and helpful. Our order consisted of the 12" Americano pizza ($17.00) and an Italian chop salad ($16.00). Disappointingly the food was only average in taste; I expected better. I'd give Bavaro's another chance hoping it was just an off day since there are some good reviews but we didn't have such luck.
BEWARE of prices on your bill
BEWARE! It says 50% off wines on Wednesday - our server tells us only during happy hour! Say what! It states Daily Special! Bait and switch! It is clear you have a Happy Hour from 3-5 and you also list daily specials. Does that mean your Monday 25%off service industry discount is only during Happy Hour? Your Thursday No Corkage fee is only during Happy Hour! Absolutely ridiculous! You ripped me off more than $20. Shame! Food was OK! Meatball appetizer was lukewarm, entrees so-so! Not the best Italian - all food could be hotter - and fresher! Service was good! Owner/Manager not! Bummer on the transparency of wine pricing! so many Italian option - do a thorough search first!
Italy brought to central ave
The best Italian food I’ve had in America. My boyfriend and I ate here last night, and I was already looking up what time they open today because we’re already craving it again. Jennifer was our server/bartender at the bar, and she was an absolute pleasure to talk with, and makes a killer espresso martini. I had the penne alla vodka, he had the tagliatelle bolognese, and we shared a diavola pizza. Everything was incredible. I have a gluten sensitivity, and the gluten free penne was perfect. They don’t have a gluten free pizza crust, but they import their flour from Italy, and I have learned from traveling in Europe that I don’t have issues eating gluten over there, and felt great after eating it. Overall amazing experience. Phone did not eat first.
The best pizza in town! Great Italian and wine!
It’s always an amazing meal with great drinks, friendly staff and fun conversations. The bartender Jennifer is GREAT!! Anywhere in the place is a good experience but we love sitting at the bar on a week night to catch up on the latest local news!
10/10 Italian in St Pete
So hard to find great Italian food here, and everything here was amazing. Plus the service from Jennifer really brought it over the top. Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone!
Fun evening dinner
Where recently in St. Pete for the IndyCar race. First night there my wife decided she wanted Italian so we walked down Central looking and came across Bavaros. What a fantastic find. Amazing wood fired Pizza and my wife had an equally delicious pasta dish. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back.
TRULY SUCKED
WOW - worst pizza ever 😳 wanted a pizza to go; we never complain; been coming to Clearwater Beach for 5 years- truly sucked
Everything was average
We decided we wanted pizza for dinner last night and this restaurant had the best TA reviews for an Italian restaurant so we made a reservation online. Luckily we found a parking space just outside and then requested a table inside as it was a little chilly outside. The restaurant isn’t huge inside and has an open kitchen, bar and pizza oven area. There’s a limited pizza choice but you could add extras so that was fine. It has a wood fired oven so we were really looking forward to an authentic pizza (we lived in Italy for 3 years so know what a great pizza is like!). The meal didn’t start well as our server just took our pizza order and walked off without asking about drinks and then we found it hard to get her attention as she started working behind the bar. So unfortunately we only got our drinks as our pizza was arriving. The pizzas looked great with the tell tale black spots on the crust which comes from the wood fired process. The toppings were good and tasty but the pizza dough and the way it had been cooked was poor and not authentic. Not sure how they had managed to cook it with black spots on the crust and have zero crispness - the dough hadn’t really been cooked through at all. So we ate the middle parts and left most of the crust. We had only come for a pizza so declined dessert and asked for the check. Took much too long to have our credit card put through the machine so left even more frustrated. I’ve given around 1000 5* reviews on TA unfortunately this isn’t one of them
Amazing Experience
I was with friends the other night who took me out for my birthday. I've wanted to try Bavaro's for a long time now, so we stopped in. When we got there, we realized we should have made a reservation. The restaurant was full. (There were 6 of us).We were about to leave when the manager, Mia, asked us to give her a few minutes to free up a table. We waited maybe 10min and she was able to seat us. She was so nice and accommodating. The food was excellent and Mia even stopped by to see if we were happy with the table and our dinner. This was the best experience I've had in a while and it was very much appreciated by all of us. We'll definitely be back!
Lunch at Bavaro's
Recently, we decided to try lunch at Bavaro's in DTSP. We saw immediately that the restaurant had ample umbrella covered seating at the front entrance. The hostess greeted us with a smile as we walked up. Good start! We loved the European intimacy vibe immediately. The restaurant has a small L-shape bar on the left side as well as approximately 10 tables inside. The wood-fired oven was visible at the rear of the room. Our server, Ally, approached the table immediately and ordered cocktails. We enjoyed a glass of wine and a beer (1/2 price during happy hour) while perusing the menu. We asked about the company's history. They are a family-owned restaurant group committed to the art and craft of Napolitan pizza. Bavaro's stays true to tradition by using a handcrafted, wood-fired brick oven designed by 3rd generation craftsmen, 100 year old yeast culture,100 year old recipes, and all of the ingredients are imported from Italy. (The tasty sauce is available for purchase.) What we ordered to share: *12-inch Margherita pizza prepared with San Marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte ("milk's flower", and is used to refer to cow's milk Mozzarella) parmigiano reggiano, basil, and EVOO soon appeared. The soft, puffy crust, sauce, fresh cheese, and basil?! Divine! Delicious! Perfect. Loved the pie. (5 stars out of 5) *Wood-Fired Wings - oven toasted with hot honey garlic and finished with pistachio gremalita (5 stars out of 5) *Spaghetti, lunch portion - homemade spaghetti with beef & pork meatballs, basil oil and parmigiano reggiano (5 stars out of 5) *Cannoli with sweet ricotta cheese and powdered sugar. It was very dry (1 star out of 5) We enjoyed our visit, the staff was friendly, professional and fun. I am looking forward to our next visit.
Neighborhood fave
Great neighborhood spot in DTSP. Jennifer is super friendly and intuitive. Plan on making it a regular part of the weekday rotation.
Great drinks..great food.
Were walking down the sidewalk looking for a new place for dinner when a server walked out the door carrying some pasta dish to an outside table. Looked and smelled delicious. The place was pack so we got seated at the bar because we didn't have reservations. We sat at the end which was great because we could watch as the chefs were plating the meals. Great craft cocktails. We has some martini ish drink I forget what it's called but they muddled fresh raspberries into the drink ahhh heaven. All the food was great..garlic cheese bread, chopped Italian salad..and the meatdballs..yum yum. Jennifer our server/bartender was super nice and entertaining to watch. That made sitting at the bar very cool. I'm only sorry that I stuffed myself so that I had no room for sweets.
Great Service from Jennifer
Jennifer was amazing! Would have never have guessed they were busy. Amazing attitude; quick to greet us and make wine recommendations. Checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed and even made sure our dog had water :)
Amazing pasta
The food was probably the best Italian we’ve had at a restaurant in the city. Jennifer, our waitress, was incredible. We will be back soon!
