Came here around 8pm on a Sunday and the place was super packed!! My friend and I waited around an hour for a table-- definitely make reservations beforehand to avoid long wait times since the place itself isn't super spacious either. Our table ended up being less than half a foot away from the next table and it ended feeling as if we were sharing the table - super squished. The food and drinks were super good though! We ordered the spicy pork main to share and passionate barn joo cocktails. The portions were massive -- we barely finished the meal and were both super stuffed by the end. We loved how the drinks came with a lollipop-like ice cube and fruit snack candy inside, super unique and the drink itself was tasty. Highly recommend the soju cocktails!

I visited this place on Union Square once and I really loved the service so I decided to give it a chance again but on 35th this time and the service was also great, we were lucky to come during happy hour.
Be the first to ReplyI came here on a Thursday night with a few friends.
We made a reservation, so we had no problem getting a table. The inside of the restaurant is well-decorated and beautiful. The menu is huge; there are plenty of options if you want to order a few small plates and share with others, or if everyone wants their own individual entrรฉe. My boyfriend and I shared the galbi buns and a spicy pork hotstone bowl. The portion sizes are a little small for the price point, but the food was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyI'm a lover of Korean fried wings.
The wings was excellent, Hotstone Spicy Seafood was something else, my first time but it was ok. Staff was very attentive and the place was quite nice. Also the hibiscus ice was was awesome.

I was so excited to come here and wanted to love it but the food was just too disappointing unfortunately. First off, the dumplings tasted like frozen dumplings I get at hmart and they were $12 for just 3 of them?! I get we're in nyc but that's ridiculous. I got the hwe bibimbap and they were so skimpy with the protein! 90% of the bowl was veggies and the overall flavor tasted like those 2 dollar seaweed flavored rice seasoning packets I get at hmart. Waaay overpriced for the quality of food they offer. But the waiter we had was very nice and attentive, and the atmosphere was great, hence the two stars rather than one.
Be the first to ReplyReally good ambiance, delicious food.
Unique food presentation and different. Small place but friendly staff and fast service. I get seated right away whenever I go. Their lunch box is perfect for a quick lunch outing. I've gone many times.

Barn Joo was such a cool little pub and I enjoyed my time there so much. The ambience was dim lit but still felt cool. It was intimate! Very cute date night spot. We didn't wait long for a Thursday night for 2 at 6:30pm, but I imagine a wait for any larger groups would be at least 10-20 minutes. We ordered the sashimi bibimbap - it felt more like a poke bowl but I enjoyed it thoroughly. The fish was fresh enough and I enjoyed the sauce. The cocktail!! Was delicious!! So good!! I got one of the soju ones. The candy that was frozen in it was NOT it though--the candies get like into a weird texture so I'd recommend just leaving it in the glass. Our server was kind and I appreciated her!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience.
It was packed on Saturday night but they did was really tasty. The cocktails are chinsy on the alcohol.

Amongst the many dishes, the japchae was without a doubt my favorite for its homey and delicious flavors. The army stew had a standard flavor like any other. Together with our passion fruit mixed cocktails, the buns were a tasty addition. As for the uni bibimbap, it was my first time trying uni and I must say that the experience was not for my particular taste palate but it was pretty intriguing. Overall, we were satisfied by the cuisine, and I would definitely tell friends to visit this restaurant because of the pleasant ambiance and great music!

We came here in a Saturday night with no reservation hoping for a spot and the host managed to squeeze us in after a 25 minute wait (which is great in NYC). We ordered a carafe full of soju & but we're sad to find out that ours didn't come with the Rock candy. We weren't aware that it only came with the individual orders of soju which we were sad about. It was okay though, the soju was tasty which made up for it.This was the best bulgogi japchae I've had so far. Not dry at all, just the perfect amount of sauce and the bulgogi was well marinated. My sister and our friend loved their food as well but said mine was the best (which I can't argue with)The host asked us politely if we could move to the bar when we were done with our meal since there was a reservation after us and we were a squeeze in. He gave us free shots!!!!! It was such a great time and would recommend this location any day. The Union square location is a staple of mine but this one was so good and had a fun vibe.

Wow. It's such a surprise to find this Korean restaurant. I was planning to go to another place but I changed my mind last minute. Great location! Great food. I love their service as well. I had a great trip in NY and very good experience at this place as well.

I wasn't expecting to like this spot as much as I did, but I'm so glad I tried it!The prices here are very high; one entree is minimum $30+, and the portions aren't super huge. However, every dish was so unique and delicious! We ordered the galbi jjim, pork jowl, Korean army stew, and NY bites. The meat dishes were flavored perfectly, with unique toppings and the most buttery sauces! We also ordered soju cocktails which were really tasty as well. Can't wait to come back again :)

I had the Spicy Pork Stone bowl and the seafood pancake and both were delicious! Service was very good. Bit of a wait to get in but very much worth it!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for lunch with a friend during the workday.
Got the hot stone bowl with beef - delicious, and my friend got the uni bibimbap which I had a bite of and was also delicious. Service was good - we were in and out in a reasonable amount of time and staff was friendly. Definitely wanna come back and try some other items.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has the best uni bibimbap.
The vibes are great. Love this place so much. Wish they had oyster happy hour like their downtown location
Be the first to ReplyWent for drinks and food.
We had Crispy Chicken Buns, Fish Buns, BBQ Chicken, Bulgoji Stone Bowl, Spicy Pork Stone Pot Bibimbap and seafood pancakes. ย Our favorite was crispy chicken buns. The place was little loud but the food was pretty amazing.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delicious.
Japchae contains a lot of flavor - was a bit sticky for my taste but totally worth it. Spicy pork was marinated beautifully and not too overpowering. A lot of butter, so be prepared to be stuffed afterwards.
Be the first to ReplyWas a bit disappointed with Barn Joo 35 unfortunately.
Came in a group of 4 and we ordered a bunch of dishes to share, including Truffle Fries, Fried Tiger Roll, Seafood Pancake, Galbi Buns, Spicy Pork, and NY Bites Bowl. All of them were fine, nothing too special. Unfortunately the Galbi Buns had so little meat in it, it just tasted like we were eating buns with some sauce lol. The NY Bites Bowl was surprisingly a hit, as it came with short rib, corn, potatoes, mushroom, and cheese. Service was fine I think since we were sitting on the 2nd floor it took a while for the waiters to come.

Had lunch outside in their covered seating area yesterday on a Saturday around noon and experienced delicious food and terrific service. We made reservations in advance for outdoor seating and as soon as we sat down the server passed us a physical menu and also showed us the QR code to scan. He answered our questions regarding entree portions clearly--the hot pot is enough for 2-3 people to share. ^_^ Since one of our party was pregnant we weren't sure if the restaurant made mocktails, and the server kindly informed us that while they weren't on the menu they could concoct a few options if we were interested. My friend ended up ordering a hibiscus lemonade drink and it was so good she ordered a second. The server also checked in often during the entire meal so a shout out for top notch customer service. For food we each ordered a different hot stone bowl--bulgogi ($20), tofu and mushroom ($20), and spicy seafood ($21). The bowls came out sizzling, and we were all satisfied with our meals. My friend commented that while there was a lot of tofu, her tofu mushroom bowl seemed to lack mushrooms. ย The flavor of the bulgogi bowl was great. Personally I felt the spicy seafood bowl had delicious flavor and was nicely medium spicy, but I wished it was a bit less saucy, so that not every bite was spicy. Or call me strange but I like a good ratio of sauced to un-sauced rice =P. We also got truffle fries ($9) which came with ketchup and spicy mayo on the side. Covid protocol as of March 2022: servers wore masks but patrons inside were not. There is hand sanitizer available upon entry and the tables inside while spaced out as much as possible, weren't fully 6 ft apart.
Be the first to ReplyWanted to share Korean food with my son.
A friend reco'd Barn Joo 35. She has impeccable taste, and did not lead me astray. We loved it here. Tried a number of things that we all shared. By far the chicken buns were our fav, followed by crunchy tofu. The chicken and steak dupbap were delish.
Be the first to Replyfantastic food and drinks - only wish is that they bring
fantastic food and drinks - only wish is that they bring the food happy hour menu back as they only have HH for drinks now. okay lets get into it:- food:we ordered the galbi buns, fish buns, fisherman's stew, wings, and seafood pancake. let me first say this is a ton of food for 4 people and it was a struggle finishing. the galbi buns were a bit of a disappointment IMO but the fish buns were crunchy and flavorful! fisherman's stew comes with crab, mussel, shrimp and that stew is jam packed with flavor. I loved the addition of the crunchy rice on top. seafood pancake wasn't as crisp as I prefer but some prefer a chewier side. the chicken wings are fantastic - you NEED to try these! the breading has the perfect crisp and its seasoned with an amazing sauce. also ordered the fries with parmesan and honestly I don't recommend. they had a funky taste and they were a little soggy- drinks:the soju cocktails are delicious and easy to drink. I must have ordered 6 of the cucumber cooler while my friend enjoyed the purple rain. they come with an ice ball on a stick with gummies frozen inside. somehow the gummies are still nice and chewy. never seen something so fun with drinks! we ventured outwards to actual cocktails and our waiter gave us the lychee drink on the house which did not disappoint!! we tried the margarita which was super strong and the bee line which was okay but I preferred the soju cocktails. - service:service was super friendly. even though we were 30 min before HH when walking in, they honored HH pricing for our drinks and even gave us a drink on the house. our waiter was so nice and attentive :) wish i lived in NY so I could come back soon!! but I will be back for you barnjoo
Be the first to ReplyLet me start with the good stuff: the food was good.
If you've eaten in LA's ktown, nothing to rave about but solid.Everything else was comically bad. We had made a reservation for a birthday with folks that didn't know each other well so (un)fortunately we bonded over the common enemy. In chronological order:1) the server doesn't acknowledge us for 15min and then asks what we want when we haven't even been given menus or QR codes2) when they come to take our order again after another 10min, we have do a full arm wave to flag them down 3) we get our appetizers before our drinks (minor thing)4) we have to ask for water (minor again) 5) when we finally get our drinks, one person in the party doesn't get hers. 10min later has to literally get up from her seat to get the waiter who's trying to give her drink to another party 6) finally, we get our food. Not once is the table checked on or do we get our water refilled (really at this point we've given up)7) restaurant closes at 10pm, but at 9:35pm we're told the restaurant is closing and are given the check. 8) 5min later, house lights come on and staff are stacking chairs 9) as we are leaving, we go downstairs and all the patrons downstairs are just eating casually (as they should be, it's not 10 yet) 10) we go home throughly confused about why we've been basically kicked out and received the worst service everFin.
Be the first to ReplyLoved this place! I walked in, and there was no wait.
I got the Bulgogi rice bowl. It was delicious and hot! The waiter was nice and fast. It was clean, including the bathroom..the kitchen is open...so you can see what's going on. It came with soup and a small bite of appetizers...all of it was good..I know one of them was kimchi. I really wish I remembered everything I ordered.but I recommend this place..I ordered a wide variety! Check out the photos

Place in website and yelp says closes at 10pm yet we got there at 9:15pm and they told us it was closed because the kitchen was closed. This was after getting an Uber to the place and explaining it to the person. Don't know about the food but apparently the service and website is no good.
Be the first to ReplyGood for the ambiance.
If you order any of the hot pots (I.e. Korean army stew) it will feel like you're eating around a campfire under a full moon. The place is very dark. The portions are very small for the price you pay. The tacos are very deconstructed and confusing.
