Bacchus was five star from the food to the service and the ambiance.. It is difficult for me to choose a favorite dish because I really enjoyed my appetizer and both of our entrees. Our server, Chelsea, was very nice, professional, and knowledgeable about the food and helped to guide us to the right choices . She was also very knowledgeable in her wine recommendations.
Came here for afternoon tea.
I got to choose one tea from their list and they brought out a bunch of teas to sniff. My friend liked her earl grey. I got the lychee oolong which I had to use sugar and cream for it to not be so bitter for me. I liked the cheddar scones. They had 3 kind of finger sandwiches. I really liked the buffalo mozzarella sandwich. Service was great. Ambience was beautiful.

Been looking forward to this! A lovely and cozy afternoon tea with my parents. Of course, they weren't able to try everything given their dietary concerns but that just meant more of everything for me! In addition to the tier, we also got some crumpets and scones. Ended up packing some home as a few people had lunch prior to the tea time. Our favourite was the panna cotta!
I was there for lunch at the beginning of June.
High expectation because of restaurant's reputation and the "Michelin 2024" plaque outside. Extremely disappointed with my meal. My burger was very oily. While wiping my lips as I ate, I had to take care that my linen napkin (on lap) did not transfer oil stains onto my white dress. I ordered crรจme brรปlรฉe for dessert. It arrived in a very shallow ramekin. While it had a nice sugar topping, the crรจme brรปlรฉe was not set in the least. It was very runny and there wasn't much of it either. I used a spoon and scraped the bottom of the ramekin for the bit that was there. What a letdown!
I took my nieces for the Valentine's Day afternoon tea.
I usually don't care for most of the food at these things, but I was impressed because they didn't taste dried out and stodgy as many others I have tried. They do give you a lot of food, none of us could eat more than maybe half of what was served, and we all purposely ate very little that morning. Maybe they could consider making their crustless sandwiches with thinner bread so we don't fill up as quickly, but that's a quibble. We all agreed that the chocolate profiteroles were the best thing that we tried. There were several items that we didn't even try. The girls took two boxes of leftovers home to their dad, lol! I ordered the Wedgewood-Tantalus sparkling wine, and was really quite impressed. It's very good quality and even with the hefty markup expected at a place like this, it felt like a good value. Definitely worth trying if you love sparkling wine. The service, as always was gracious, and warm. Overall, an excellent afternoon tea experience.
Dine out Vancouver 2025 is in full swing.
I've wanted to try out Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge for the longest time. Finally. This restaurant is located at the Wedgewood Hotel on Hornby St across the street from the Law Courts. The decor is Venetian - classy, timeless & beautiful. Wine connoisseurs will love the vast selection of wines available here. Tim our server & matrie'd extraordinaire was on point with service of pure excellence. Bravo good Sir! For DOV, it's $65pp & you get a choice of appetizer, main dish & dessert. We started off with the Seared Scallops & Duck Liver Terrine. Really enjoyed both of them. Our main dishes were the Maple Glazed Steelhead Trout & the Pork Collar Confit. Both of these items were buttery soft & ahhhh mazing! I was surprised by how full I was as the portions are not huge but extremely filling. When dessert came around I had a hard time trying to eat it. The Chocolate Cake was good, but the Caramelized Apple Tart even better. Bacchus is a classy restaurant but don't be assuming that it's only for the Silver (old, white hair) Fox type crowd. It is high end & very classy. If you can get in ASAP do so now & take advantage of DOV - you won't be disappointed.

The food was excellent and the setting olde worlde in a good way. However the service was less than gracious and not what one would expect in a place at this price point.
Beautiful hotel restaurant with an intimate cozy setting
Beautiful hotel restaurant with an intimate cozy setting and good food. Went for a birthday as a table of 5 and got seated in a nice spot with a curved couch and chairs. There was a live pianist who also sang and made the atmosphere upbeat yet classy. I thought it was a bit unfitting that the hockey game could be seen on the TV on the lounge side of the restaurant. We all got drinks and some of us shared raw oysters which were good but overpriced. I got the prawn and scallop tagliarini which I would order again and it was the perfect amount of food. We all shared the sticky toffee pudding, espresso tiramisu and the trio of chocolate millefeuille. I enjoyed the tiramisu the most but wished it was larger as among 5 people it was only a spoonful. The service was friendly but very slow. We were there for at least 3 hours and had to wait a bit to order our food and then again later on the night to order dessert. I had an empty glass of water for a while as well. I would return to try their afternoon tea and I could see this becoming a staple spot for a celebratory meal.

I'm glad that this was my first experience with a Michelin-starred restaurant. However, the Chicken Schnitzel could have used more seasoning in the batter they used to fry the chicken. It was too plain tasting for me. Otherwise, I enjoyed how moist the perfectly cooked chicken tasted and the creamy Hollandaise on top.
Great time in Bacchus Lounge
Johnny was our go to friend in The Bacchus lounge. He recommended a lovely jazz lounge and always managed to come by to say hello. Everyone in the Bacchus lounge was wonderful and the music in the evening was a joy.
Beautiful charming interior with a romantic vibe.
Service was pretty good. The food was overall good, but a little heavy-handed with the salt. The duck liver parfait and the duck were both a little too salty. The burrata and the ravioli were perfect, so delicious. Unfortunately, the deconstructed cheesecake was overly sweet. Plating was beautiful, as expected.
Well worth the visit, they guarantee you have a good experience.
Lovely place. Good food, beautiful presentation. The cod is our favourite of the dishes weโve tried, and their house made sorbets are always a delicious way to end the meal. Very comfortable ambience, and the service is very friendly. They clearly want everyone to leave happy. When asked how our salad was I replied it was โokayโ (nothing wrong just nothing stellar). The manager came to check in and offered a different salad, more dressing, etc. We explained it was fine, kept the salad as is and did finish it, no complaints. They still took it off our bill anyway (at their initiative). It was a surprise but we really appreciated the gesture. On a separate occasion as I was on my way out I complemented the managerโs flower arrangements and he gave me the rose he just took out of the vase.
A special evening
We had a very special dining experience at Bacchus. We wanted to book a quality restaurant to celebrate our honeymoon and Bacchus did not disappoint. The food and service were second to none however our night was made by being sat right next to the piano man who was so friendly and talented, he was taking our music requests all night! If you want a dining experience to remember then this is the place.

Wonderful service and amazing food! Loved the risotto and the pork bao! What made the night was the amazing live piano! Outstanding!

What's not to love! We walked in to the magnificent stylings of Sean Allen on piano and vocals, the cocktails were perfectly made and our menu selections were absolutely delicious! Please don't think that the Bacchus environment is stuffy - there were folks there in hockey jerseys as well as sports coats. Come as you are, and enjoy.
Amazing staff/food/drinks, no matter the time of day!!
An amazing place for food or drinks at any time of day. We stayed at the Hotel (Wedgewood) that this restaurant is located in, for 4 days. We had breakfast here every day, but also some lunches, dinners, and cocktails. It never disappointed. The staff were so accommodating (food allergies, where we preferred to sit, food preferences, etc...), I can't say enough good things about them. Raymond always came over to say HI, even when he wasn't our server, and he always remembered our preferences. The food was top notch, and they had tasty and unique drink concoctions if you were just wanting to chill and listen to their live pianist in the evenings. If you are looking for a special night out, or just need a place to eat when staying in the area, I would highly recommend you come to Bacchus.
Dinner here is a complete sensory experience.
Delicious food, excellent choice from menu and wine list. Charming and helpful wait staff. Wait staff are attentive without being intrusive.

Relaxing lunch with a Special Lady
Great place for breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Great service, comfortable seating and relatively quiet. Great place for a business lunch or couples lunch. Food was well prepared, had the avocado prawns and was very happy with all the food served
Cozy, Inviting, and Exceptional
Fantastic wine bar with a cozy vibe and an excellent wine selection. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience truly enjoyable. Perfect for wine lovers and those looking to relax. Highly recommend!
A very romantic evening.
When you visit a city you feel the urge to explore and dine outside your hotel, but if you are staying at The Wedgewood, fight the urge. My wife and I had dinner in the Bacchus Lounge which was like dining in an upscale private club. The food was Michelin quality, the service was fantastic, and we were lucky to have been there when a fine piano player added to the subdued elegance of the evening. My suggestion, forget about your diet for one evening and order the date cake ala mode with butterscotch for dessert.
lovely dinner with family
decor was beautiful service was excellent and food was top notch. i had the lamb and it was so tender and the pasta appetizer was great but save room for the sticky toffee pudding oh my goodness best dessert i have had in years,
Delicious discovery!
We had Easter Brunch and dinner at Baccus and both were delicious! For brunch, a most lovely French man took care of us to start, gave us perfect recommendations and was so sweet and extremly well versed on the menu as well as in the know on what was best, though reserved and a perfect balance of letting us decide., then a man in a green tie was also very helpful (manager possibly). Lovely champagne and wonderful food options. Poached eggs, goat cheese very delicious. That evening we dined at Baccus and Dawn was our lovely server and very helpful and caring. The scallops and ravioli we're delicious as we're the Easter cookies! The Baccus 1984 was so nice to finish the evening by the fire. What a lovely experience! I can't wait to come back!
While I liked this restaurant on an initial dinner visit,
While I liked this restaurant on an initial dinner visit, the Easter weekend afternoon tea was rather mediocre and a poor experience. what made it worse was it eas a celebration that the other party with me identified at reservation time and they didn't do anything to acknowledge it. when it was the checked with the manager, he said nothing was in there. Therefore, they are untrustworthy to make reservations with. Also, we had diet restrictions shared and noted at the time of reservations but they were not acknowledged, and we had to remind the server of that ourselves. Very unorganized. They forgot to charge fir one single glass of BC sparkling wine, and the manager being such a classy sport (not) offered to not charge for it. What a cheap low class move to think not charging for a glass of local sparkling wine, that they already forgot to bill when we closed out, would offset that they can't even manage a special occasion request at reservation time. This place is a huge disappointment and not worthy to come back to. The bathroom was also smelly and a little gross.
While I enjoyed a former holiday dinner, their regular
While I enjoyed a former holiday dinner, their regular menu is much less interesting, and their recent afternoon tea was poorly executed and a bad experience for many reasons. The tea quality was rather poor in a city that has access to such fine teas. One selection on their printed menu wasn't even available. Serviving plates, cups, and accessories did not match and clashed. Very ugly. Our tea was served in a cheap looking french press that definitely did not look appropriate or esthetic with the rest of the table. Their tea sandwiches ranged from ok to outright poor. The tina sandwich was atrocious with a metalic can harsh taste and not well blended and mixed into a giner tasting tuna salad. It's unbelievable to go here and eat foid far inferior to what one could easily prepare at home. They didn't even acknowledge our table's birthday celebration, as prearranged and confirmed at reservation time. The excuse was that it wasn't in the notes, which is a joke after being deliberately confirmed at booking. With the live music, they could have at least arranged a happy birthday song played on the live piano. Service was decent except missing the birthday makes over all service complete crap and a total embarrassment for the establishment. In the day, instead of nicely baked bread or rolls, they served some kind of cheap sour dougg sliced toast, and they really ration the butter for some reason, not bringing more when i ran out. It's also ridiculous that they force you to prepay for this crappy excuse of proper afternoon tea service at booking. Maybe they know how poor it is and want to make that money grab as quickly as possible. No class. It seems more like a tourist trap trying to pretend to be classy, but missing the mark big time. I don't recommend this place for a special occasion or any occasion. The manager who I reported this issue to was only willing to make one single glass of BC sparkling wine on the house. That shows how ridiculously clueless and cheap they are. I made it c l clear that cheap move still doesn'tmake things right and that there was still going to be a one-star review from me. I just couldn'tstand how unprofessional and cheap tgey came across. This place missed, failed, and sucked here, and won't be back another time.
I went with friends to the $65 dinner dine out menu.
The atmosphere is great and tranquil. We were seated at the back as the only group table back there. We had an 8:30 reservation though. They had the live piano music which was great. After we chose our dineout menus, there was a round of amuse Bouche which was deep fried cauliflower. It tasted quite salty though. There was also a complimentary bread basket with butter. The bread basket was great. My starter was the duck pate. It was smooth and succulent and came with 2 pieces of toast. It was a rich start to the meal. Then I opted for pork bourgnoie which they made it taste like beef and not dry at all. The portion was quite small but I was getting quite full. For dessert I chose the nougatine dome which was quite rich. Maybe I would've enjoyed it if I was a bit less full.
From a quick drink, a light lunch or dinning in.
Bacchus has been one for the most consistent in food and service. Martini's are done right, great selection of wines, dessert and cheeses. Dropped in earlier this month for some drinks and quick noshes with colleges. I just had to write this review as service and consistency post covid is all over the board. Bacchus is stellar.
My husband and I enjoyed a Dine Out dinner at Bacchus
My husband and I enjoyed a Dine Out dinner at Bacchus recently and would highly recommend dining here for an evening with excellent service, food and ambience. We never felt rushed even with a set time period as per Dine Out limits. The background live piano music added a nice touch, and the overall noise level of nearby conversations was reasonable enough for us to be able to hear each other talk. One example of outstanding service was when the hostess was arranging a bouquet of balloons at the next table in preparation for a celebration, and I jokingly said "Oh, for my birthday?" Within five minutes our server brought us a little tray of chocolates and a lit candle. I sheepishly admitted that it wasn't my birthday and asked Franklin our server to send it back. That level of service and communication deserves to be recognized. Thank you all.
Lovely experience.
Terrific ambiance, enjoyed the cozy, elegant living room decor. Comfy chairs, granite tabletops. Staying at the hotel, came for breakfast. Food was good, scrambled eggs perfectly creamy. Coffee very good, nice and strong, kudos for that. And nice and hot. I hate lukewarm, weak coffee. None of that here. They leave an insulated coffee carafe which was great, hot refills on demand. The menu was very conservative with standard breakfast fare. Eggs, pancakes, the ususal. Nothing exotic, but solid. They brought ketchup and two fresh jams without asking. Bravo. None of that jam in a plastic tub nonsense. Service was excellent. Perfect amount of check-in without pestering. This is $$$ but prices were fair and reasonable for the experience. Would recommend.
