Auro Calistoga Reviews
Wow this place delivered on everything.
Usually with a tasting menu you'll have a few items that miss but not here. This might have been my favorite meal ever! Service was exceptional with even the head chef coming to say hi. It was also cool we got a spot next to the kitchen. You could see everyone working was having a good time which was a rare sight

My husband and I celebrated our one year with a delightful dinner at Auro. My husband appreciated the attentive service and beautifully presented dishes. I enjoyed the flavorful dishes and relished the bustling kitchen atmosphere. I will gladly recommend the dinner to my family and friends. We enjoyed our time at Auro and look forward to returning again.
The food at Auro wasn't that great.
The serving sizes were all smaller than a golf ball and kind of all tasted the same. Definitely the most pretentious place I've ever been. Every staff member exudes the highest level of arrogant crap. They also took my $35 whiskey drink when I was half way done, without asking, to make room for the next course. I love good food, and creative plates, but this was a terrible waste of money.

Amazing experience! Entire staff was friendly and very thoughtful. Really enjoyed the casual atmosphere where you can enjoy fine dining quality food without the uptight atmosphere. We'll be back!
Phenomenal. Do not miss.
AURO is magnificent. Best dining experience one could imagine. Even the plates are custom hand made for each dish, every bite an adventure and the wine pairing was beyond perfection. This should definitely be getting more Michelin stars and soon!!
Hard to post this review.
When dining at a Michelin star restaurant, the hope is to have flavors and tastes that wow with service to match. Our experience was off from the start. Our server greeted us by confusing us with another table. She called us by a name that wasn't ours and launched into a discussion about a special event with a long description we had provided about the occasion. None of this was us. We waited 20 minutes for the first dish to arrive. We regularly refilled our wine and water glasses ourselves. The food was over salted masking what may have been delicate balanced flavors underneath. While the serving bowls were artful, the shape of the bowls did not allow for an ability to capture the food without the assistance of an additional utensil to guide the food onto the spoon or fork. The spacing between the dishes was not orchestrated well; some dishes arrived quickly and others resulted in a long gap of time. We were asked, in a bit of panicked voice, to make room on the table for large dishes that were arriving. We stopped our conversation and began to move glasses, bottles and silverware. While not a big deal, it speaks to the lack of finessed orchestrion that is hoped for when at a Michelin. We would not return.
All I have to say is WOW what a lovely experience.
We did the classic tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was absolutely fantastic. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and a welcome bite that was very tasty. See the pictures for all of the courses. My favorite were the milk bread (I would eat this every day), the Australian wagyu and the gnocchi. Another highlight was going into the kitchen before dessert to meet the chefs and pastry team, which was a super unique experience. Everyone was super friendly and made us feel right at home. It did not feel stuffy at all and everyone was very down to earth. I would be happy to go back!
Auro is a fabulous restaurant that will be at least a 2-3 star in the future!
This restaurant is a one star Michelin. I predict it will increase to 2 or 3 stars at some point. It was fabulous. We loved the glass walls that let you view the chefs in the kitchen as they prepared each dish. Each plate was gorgeous and the china used was incredible. Presentation was very unusual. We tasted things we would never have ordered had it not been a preset menu, but everything was amazing. We look forward to having another experience there. As with the French Laundry, plan on 3 hours to dine. It's worth it.
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
This meal was pretty much perfection. Let's talk about the fact that I didn't have to jump through a million hoops to get reservations. This is appreciated. The whole team was efficient and the best part was that they were fun and engaging. I have been to many Michelin star restaurants that are way too stuffy. I felt comfortable the entire time and enjoyed spending time here. The wine pairings were excellent. Derek's choices complimented the food. Many sommeliers do not get this right. He did. The food was absolutely brilliant. I appreciate the homage to his Mexican heritage. You would start a dish and then realize, oh there's a small hint of spice in here. Well done. And that bread is absolutely delectable. You will want more than one round. The six amuse bouche dishes were absolutely a winner and were appreciated. Their star is absolutely earned. We will be going back for sure and ask that they continue to make it accessible. Unlike, cough, other places in napa that rhyme with wrench.... This place is a breath of fresh air for all of the reasons I mentioned. Adam, our server, was also awesome and we enjoyed our conversations with him. I can't wait to go back. I hope he adds even more of that Mexican flair.

We have been to Michelin restaurants around the world and this is amongst the best two we have ever been to. We got engaged earlier today and wanted to celebrate our engagement here and the choice will never be regretted. Thank you to chef Rogelio and also our server Jourdan to help make this this day once in a lifetime. Of course the service was great but the food and ambiance is second to none globally
Remarkable and inspiring dining experience that should not be missed. Exceptional in every way.
Auro is truly exceptional - the French Laundry of Calistoga. One of the most creative, luxurious, delicious experiences of a lifetime. The attention to detail, precision and sense of excellence were inspiring. Every touch point was perfect - menu, wine pairings, service. We sat at the Chef's Table in the kitchen which was fascinating and a must do. This restaurant is deserving of its second Michelin star. Absolute perfection.
What a great experience! From beginning to end you will
What a great experience! From beginning to end you will enjoy your dinner at Auro. The service is top notch and they do everything with class. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. I liked the personal interaction. They went above and beyond with dairy and gluten allergy and made great substitutions, not just leaving parts of a dish off. The tour of the kitchen and meeting the chef made our anniversary extra special. Get your reservation for this 1 star Michelin restaurant in Four Seasons hotel in Calistoga. Amazing!
One of the best dining experience ever.
Food was amazing. Service was spectacular. Even had the opportunity to get the tour of the kitchen and meet the chefs! 10/10 would return.

I visited Auro on October 26, 2023 to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was an exceptional experience start to finish. Notably, the service was efficient and exceptional while also remaining friendly and not stuffy, which made us feel relaxed and at ease through the night. Both me and my partner were blown away by the food and presentation, which was paired with amazing wines. They also let us swap out wines we were not excited about and were flexible about that, which was much appreciated. What put everything over the top was the chance to meet Chef Rogelio who was kind, approachable, and seemed genuinely humble. I've told all my friends they need to check this place out. Thank you for making my birthday one to remember!
Met the chef.
Comfortable environment. Not pretentious at all. We attended a winemaker's dinner here and the food fell short. Beautiful plating, but inconsistent preparation of the proteins from one person to the next on our table of four. Lobster was mushy and duck breast, while a generous portion, didn't have that beautifully rendered fat and crisp skin (on my dish) but was good on my spouse's plate. Sadly, even though we let them know ahead of time that there would be a vegetarian in our group, not much effort was made to make something special. I noticed they were served the pasta from the main restaurant and one of the main dishes was basically the small portion of side vegetables from the prior dish that the meat eaters were served. We've been to other Michelin star restaurants that have gone above and beyond on the vegetarian prix fixe menu. Honestly, I also don't think the dishes paired well with the wines either. Someone needs to do better, especially with it being a winemaker's dinner. I feel like I should try again another time. Give it a second chance.
Exceptional Service
We had an exceptional dining experience. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. Each course was a celebration of flavors. The atmosphere was elegant and inviting. I enjoyed visiting the kitchen and meeting Chef Garcia. I will definitely return.
One of the best experiences so far.
Food was great. Service was topnotch. The atmosphere was relaxed, not stuffy at all. A couple of things stood out. In every course, they introduced the ingredients before they become food on the table. It was my first time to experience it, and it was fun. It helped that the servers were very knowledgeable and made it fun and dare I say, educational even. Now I'm not sure if it was because my friend was celebrating her birthday, but at some point, we were ushered into the spotless kitchen to show us how the food was prepared. Best of all, we got to shake Chef Rogelio's hand and chat a bit. It was amazing, to say the least. We cannot wait to be back.
I would not be surprised to see Auro get a second Michelin
I would not be surprised to see Auro get a second Michelin starred next year. The experience was exquisite in so many ways, and chef, and his team created a very memorable experience. We splurged on a seat within the kitchen, and it was a lot of fun to see their team at work. I also opted for the wine pairing, and the sommelier was an amazing personality to talk with. His picks were on point. As for the food, the amuse bouche was absolutely amazing. My other favorites were the kinki fish and the cauliflower (which I believe is only available to parties sitting in the kitchen). All in all, a wonderful experience fit for a special occasion. The property itself is gorgeous, especially at night. Thank you to Chef and the team for the experience.
Great new restaurant in Napa
Great meal, probably best for me this year. Started out a little slow, standing at reception for 10 minutes, and waiting for a while but once the food started coming it was wonderful. Creative and tasty amuses then 4 savory courses and 2 desserts. All interesting and beautifully presented and delicious. Chef invites everyone into the kitchen before desert and was friendly and engaging. $205 pp base which is reasonable for this level of food. Wine pairings looked fun but we were not drinking and not much available for non-drinkers, no NA beer for instance. Highly recommend.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Auro Calistoga at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Auro Calistoga page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* PerceptiveWash44, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* PerceptiveWash44 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to PerceptiveWash44 for any questions Peter may have as PerceptiveWash44 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* PerceptiveWash44 now uses their connections at Auro Calistoga to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If PerceptiveWash44 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection

* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Auro Calistoga!
