We've often passed the Au Petit Marguery on trips to Paris, but actually never visited; until now. I'm glad we did.Au Petit Marguery is one of those classic Left Bank restaurants which is inviting but at the same time gives the aura of a classy but expensive place. The patrons, mostly well healed French of all ages, take the menu seriously; indeed this is a place to dine and not to eat. Happily the menu offers a few prix fixe dinners which are both generous and not too expensive. We chose the Dinner Menu for 41 Euros which offered a starter, the main dish and desert, coffee AND a bottle of mineral water and yes a full bottle of very decent Bordeaux. Think about it!My wife started with a fresh melon garnished with burrata and a balsamic dressing. I had a very nice Gazpacho soup, which should have been a hint more creamy, but was still perfect for Summer. For the main entree we both choose their signature Duck breast dish with pears, polenta and a garnish of raspberries. The duck was perfectly cooked and presented. For desert, my wife chose an amazingly fresh strawberry melody while I had a perfectSouffle Grand Marnier which is the house speciality for desert. I can see why. The consistency was that of frothy light clouds drizzled with Grand Marnier. Simply exquisite. Service was spot on and professional and did not miss a beat despite the restaurant being pretty full. I suggest reservations as the restaurant is not too big and does not serve past 10 PM. Petit Marguery remains a quaint bastion of fine dining at an affordable price. Well worth the experience. Bon appetit!
