Delicious, unique food
Delicious food! Very fun atmosphere. Drinks were not the best, but everything else was wonderful. Waiter was super friendly and attentive for a large group. Such a wide variety of items on the menu, but all equally good and high quality.
Be the first to ReplyDecent food. Poor service
Good food and cool ambiance. There were two problemsโฆ the service was not good. It took forever to get our drinks and then we sat there with empty glasses and it took forever to get coffee refills and another round. It was also very cold. It almost seemed like the AC was on in the winter
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food, Funky Atmosphere, Very Noisy
The remnants of the old bakery that occupied the building are still there and make for an interesting atmosphere augmented by the more recently installed items. We were there for brunch which had many interesting offerings. The eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, spaghetti squash carbonara and lasagna edges were all unique and well prepared. The service was mostly inattentive especially considering the it was the end of the brunch service and the restaurant was not full. The one BIG negative was the noise level. We unfortunately were seated in the very back near the open kitchen. The wait staff seemed to vie for who could shout out the loudest to the cooks. Very annoying. So if you go try to get a table in the middle away from the kitchen and noisy bar scene.

Called tonight and spoke with the bartender, Paid for a bottle of Spumante to be delivered to a birthday table tonight. Gave bartender reservation time and name. He even wrote a note I asked to go to the birthday girl. Surprise! Bottle never was sent. Thank you for ruining my birthday present.

This is still one of my top five dinner experiences in the New York/ New Jersey area. It all starts and ends with the dirty ribeye, it is still possibly my favorite steak of all time. Add to that great cocktails, a really creative menu where everything is good, and then throw in a fantastic vibe and itโs simply a fantastic dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat space and vibe but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get.
I love the space and music (Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder etc) Menu is a little limited and very expensive. No bread or breadsticks for the table. Lemon Oil Shrimp App was all right - 3 prawns with one piece of bread. Brussel Sprouts were ok- I have had better at chain restaurants and these were $11. My 1/2 chicken breast was ok: under-seasoned and plain. Your choice of dipping sauce comes with it -I got red pepper herb and they gave me about 3 tablespoons which I used in about 1 minute since the chicken was pretty tasteless and a little dry. You can order another sauce for $5 so I didn't even ask for more. I already was spending $35 on chicken plus the brussels. The lasagna osso buco was very good. I did mention to the waitress that the chicken was dry/plain. I think she took one drink off the bill. All in all I would only go there for Happy Hour since it had that NYC West Village vibe but I would eat somewhere else.

With this type of review, it is important to tell the punch line first: the manager offered to adjust the bill. More on that later.
So, our oldest child lives in Hoboken and Mom and Dad travel there about every six weeks for a meal and to catch up. This time we picked Antique Bar and Bakery based on my brother's mention of seeing it positively reviewed on some television show.
We walk in and are asked if we have reservations. We don't and are told that we would need to be at a high top; perfectly fine. However, three banquets remained empty the entire time we were there. That is OK and moving on.
We ordered OJ and I have to say that Tropicana is better than what they served. We are still OK and moving on.
We ordered the "bread basket" as an appetizer. We have all had this before and what did come out is NOT what we expected. What came out is a basket with a chocolate cupcake, a chunk of white cake with frosting and coconut on top, an apple scone and a chunk of toasted Italian bread. Overall, the cupcake and slice of cake are way TOO sweet to be served at anything other than a kid's birthday party. The scone was pretty good. The Italian bread was squirted with an oil ... not a good oil or butter ... just oil. In the end, most of the "bread" just stayed in the basket. Not really OK, but we are enjoying talking with the "kid."
So, now we have been there for a while ... maybe 40 minutes ... we picked at the "bread basket" the table next to us (that sat after us) is served their meals, the other table next to us (that was there before us) is served their meals and finally two of the three of us are served ours. Then we wait again for the third meal; maybe five more minutes, and it finally arrives! Yeah! However, as we start to eat, we remind the waiter that we are missing the bacon. We get a couple of mouthfuls into the meal and the bacon mysteriously arrives from the front of the restaurant and not from the kitchen. I ask the waiter, did you bring this from another table. He answered that it had not but if I wanted another one he'd get it. I wanted a new one, the balance of the table told him to leave it; which he did.
Into the food. So, the mushroom omelettes had no mushrooms. The omelettes were cooked in way too much oil and it ended up in the bottom of the dish. The salad was OK, but the roasted potatoes were cold. The poached eggs were the smallest I have ever seen and the chorizo hash was more like mush. The bacon was not great, but it certainly was room temperature. Somewhere in the middle of this meal a commercial food delivery arrives. Not through the back door, but right through the restaurant. A case of eggs comes in, a box of kale is put down where the chef is prepping food, a box of mushrooms is placed on top of the kale (mushrooms grow in dirt, right?). Then the kitchen staff starts to break down the supplies. So much fun. I am surprised they didn't ask us to help!
By this time we are done, in more ways than with the meal. We ask for the check and pay. Then someone asks something like hyper-chipper like: "great meal?" I had to tell the truth. It was not. He then offered to adjust the bill. I said fine, however, give it to the waiter as an additional tip. Next time I am making reservations at the W and not listening to my brother.
Great food and wonderful service
The food is just wonderful and the service is great BUT the owners honor Hoboken traditions at holidays hosting a buffet on Thanksgiving with turkeys roasted in its coal fired ovens. There is nothing better than respecting traditions, offering great food and extraordinary service.

Cannot understand how this restaurant gets such rave reviews. For dinner, the food was mediocre at best. The drinks were also terrible: who picked the wine by the glass choices, the martini needed to be sent back. However, the service was very attentive. I will say that they did give us free appetizers as they could not honor our reservations on time and we had to wait over 30 minutes for the table. The steak special which is why we came here was not available. Food was extremely pricey and portions are very small.
Be the first to ReplyA cool dining experience!
This restaurant lives up to its name. The inside is decorated with wonderful pictures and beautiful Antique novelties. The food was amazing! I had the seasonal rice balls as appetizer. Then we moved on to the steak with some potatoes. I then topped off my amazing meal with their famous bread pudding. Wow! I will be coming here again and again!
Be the first to ReplyGreat for client dinner!
Iโm not from NJ but was referred by a colleague; Antique Bar and Bakery was PERFECT! Great vibe with out being too loud. Service was efficient genuine and friendly but the FOOD! Special shout out to the lasagna edges, hot oil shrimp and coal fired whole fish. As if on cue the GM told us the history of the space and the 100 yr old oven. My client was impressed and I canโt wait to come back with my Bklyn friends!

Took my daughters to dinner here. The restaurant is very cute and has lots of character. I like that the kitchen is open and the service was great. The food i found to be overpriced as with many other restaurants in Hoboken, not surprised. I ordered the hard herb steak which was delicious, but a bit on the small side. The hot oil shrimp was delicious and so was the mussels appetizer. I definitely did not like the brussel sprouts, too sweet and too spice and too charred.
Be the first to Replydelicious desserts!
The dinner menu here is small, but has many unique options. My party and I just got an appetizer to share because everything was very expensive. We also knew that we wanted dessert. We got the giant cookie cake with ice cream. It was absolutely amazing! We all devoured it! Loved the ambiance of this place
