AnnaLena Vancouver Reviews
Creative menu with seasonal ingredients.
Honestly, this is what I often looking for in a set menu from a fancy restaurant. Each dish is either a new creation from the chef, or a new take of a traditional dish, and either way, we can't predict what it would be. Service is also top notch. They called ahead to check on our allergy or dietary restrictions and made adjustment to the menu that served to us. Since I was pregnant, they made me a slightly different version of some raw food dish without altering the look or taste much! I was really impressed. Drink menu also includes non alcohol "wine" from Europe, which is fantastic to pair with the meal. Highly recommend this place!
Unique and fun takes on familiar dishes
Dinner here was a treat. The hostess was warm and welcoming right from the start. Our server seemed a bit reserved at first, but once we connected with her, she really opened up. Each course was unique, creative, and delicious — a great balance of flavor and presentation. Cocktails were excellent, too. Overall, a memorable dinner spot in Vancouver.
Amazing experience! Im part of a small group of ladies
Amazing experience! Im part of a small group of ladies supper club. This is our 6th Michelin star restaurant. We opted for regular set menu. 8 courses and very filling. Service was very good. Everyone was very attentive and friendly. Overall the food was very good, some highlights cheeseburger was popular with the group, pork skewers, duck and dessert. The place was modern, chic and dark. Not a very big place, need to make reservations. We all ordered drinks/cocktails. Names for drinks and food are very cute! Highly recommend.
Fantastic Anniversary Dinner!
Outstanding anniversary dinner at AnnaLena’s in Vancouver, atmosphere was stylish and modern, food was amazing and the service top rate. Located in the Vancouver neighbourhood of Kitsilano, steps from the beach, this restaurant focuses its tasting menu on seasonal local farms highlight by thoughtful wine pairing’s. We opted to take advantage of the premium tasting experience that included fried oysters accompanied by beluga caviar, rabbit pasta accompanied by black truffles and a wagyu beef main. Truly a delicious treat!
A beautiful space for a lovely meal.
The tasting menu had a few surprises with a 'cheeseburger' and rabbit and it all was delicious while feeling decadent. Service was excellent as my water was never empty and the servers were very friendly and easy to chat with. There was a surprise additional dessert which was a nice touch. My reason for only 4 stars is because none of the dishes really blew me away especially at that price point. I was also a bit underwhelmed by my mocktail and the limited choices available. This was my second time dining at this restaurant so I would likely return and hope for a dish to blow me away.
The restaurant exceeded my expectations, with every dish
The restaurant exceeded my expectations, with every dish being very delicious and the rabbit ramen dish being a strong stand out. My party also tried the non alcoholic mocktails which were delicioisly crafted. The service at AnnaLena was also top notch, as they were attentive throughout. The dining experience came with several fun surprises, which was fitting with the whimsical menu. I think this is a must visit in vancouver!
Vancouver's most impressive tasting menu blew me away.
I came with high expectations, and I was shocked by just how much better it was than I expected. Service (at the bar) was a highlight, with an excellent bartender that didn't up-sell and was just conversational and pleasant. The food was amazing; highlights included the make-your-own-cheeseburger, a fantastic cut of pork, and rabbit. The restaurant itself is designed brilliantly, whimsical, but with enough pretention to justify the bill. A lovely experience.
The interior of this place is soooooo fire.
If I was to design a restaurant, this would be it. All dark neutral vibes, some neutral wood elements, KAWS figurines, etc. Super dope. The tasting menu was so creative, fresh, and fun. I loved every single course and left feeling full and satisfied. Ty was a great server. Must come here if you're in Vancouver!
Delicious seafood
This is a restaurant which is modern and the menu includes contemporary Canadian cuisine as well. The seafood was delicious and the service was good.
An ensemble that works a dream
Full kudos to the team at Annalena, a remarkable dining experience. The tasting menu displays an imaginative genius - spectacular without being pretentious, all lovingly presented. The starting ‘Cheeseburger 2050’, a deconstruction affair, had us smiling and humming at the presentation and flavours. The standard was maintained throughout. Add to that friendly but not intrusive servers and a highly knowledgeable sommelier and the ensemble works a dream. Save for a special occasion perhaps, but be sure to go. Highly recommended,
Good food, amazing service and atmosphere.
Everything here hits that sweet spot between "refined" and "I actually want to eat this." It's creative but not confusing. The flavors make sense, the plating is stunning without being fussy, and somehow, each bite still feels warm and personal, and also their presentation is so unique. Highlights: tasting menu - anything with meat tastes very quality and they serve you interesting little appetizers and palate cleansers in between your meal. Staff was attentive without hovering, and the whole experience felt intentional. Worth the hype. Just book ahead, bring someone who appreciates food!
A fantastic night of indulgence!
We had dinner here and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The curated menu changes often, so it's probably not worth much to anyone reading this to say what we had. It was all great and the entire staff was attentive and helpful throughout. The food was delicious and innovative - everything you expect from a tasting menu at a Michelin star restaurant. You will not be disappointed if you take the plunge! You will pay a fair price for what you get - though that price is high for dinner in general. Treat yourself to this if you find yourself in Vancouver.
the food was amazing, some of the best food i've ever had.
the presentation, the flavours were so good. we had a great time and the service was really good. it was also really nice of them to accommodate to any allergies. i just don't know if i would go back again however because of the pricing.
One of the best fine dining experiences I've had,
One of the best fine dining experiences I've had, especially at this price point. Totally blown away by the creativity and execution on the tasting menu.
Yup. Still the goat. They have a figurine of Michael Jordan
Yup. Still the goat. They have a figurine of Michael Jordan next to their Michelin star. Apropos because AnnaLena is #1 in Vancouver in my bookie. The experience is a surprise. Your taste buds dancing sing I do a wonderful job well proportioning out the meal and the servers are very polite and knowledgable and take very good care of you. Love their presentation explanation of each course. My favourite outing was the Ramen pasta. Every meal is made with the care of " if the world was to end tomorrow, what's the best damn thing we can eat before the apocalypse?" Caviar out of oysters. Apple pie amuse Bouche. Wagyu beef. Hell yeah!
Must try!
Make sure to get dinner with the wine pairings, you can’t miss. Everything from start to finish was phenomenal, I ate it all. Staff and service were great and provided good instructions. I highly recommend and will be coming back when I’m in town. Make sure to book in advance, the space is small and was packed.
Exceptional
This restaurant provided us with a stunning evening filled with some of the most creative and delicious food you can imagine. We couldn’t fault a single dish and the Riesling I tasted was the best I’ve ever had. Friendly staff and a small, vibrant atmosphere completed the experience. Expensive, but on par with similar establishments.
Superb food, great service
First things first. Does the AnnaLena deserve a Michelin star? Yes, it does. Dishes ranged from (very) good to superb. The oyster with the shaved foie gras, the slightly toasted brioche with the bluecheese butter and the wagyu were my favorites. Wines were good as well (some interesting like the one from Georgia). Attentive staff, nice and very friendly service. Loved the stories around the wines. Music was a bit too loud for my taste, but overall experience was great and I definitely recommend the restaurant. Will I come back? Definitely
Perfection
I had the luxury of coming to AnnaLena for my birthday. I would not have changed a thing. The food was incredible, I found myself actually excited in anticipation of each course. Each plate was flawless. We sat at the bar - Tyler was exceptional. Cocktails were innovative and delicious. The staff overall were brilliant, friendly and informative. We left comfortably full. The tasting menu courses were perfect portions. I can’t say enough good things about this truly perfect evening. Thank you!
Simply amazing meal.
Truly spectacular meal. Highly innovative food with fantastic service. Every bite was unique and memorable. If you have the opportunity to visit do not miss it.
We had a very very long travel day and were honestly so
We had a very very long travel day and were honestly so exhausted when we arrived we had zero interest in a tasting menu. We were also starving. We had very low expectations which were beyond exceeded! I am so happy to share I had such a great experience dining at AnnaLena. As a vegetarian who enjoys fine dining, it is so rare to come by an establishment which knows how to not only make vegetables taste out of this world, but to leave you feeling perfectly full. I completely felt that after leaving this restaurant after enjoying the tasting menu! There were 10 courses and they were all absolutely spectacular as was the service. Everything was amazing! I highly recommend and wish I lived in Vancouver just so I could enjoy this restaurant again!

Came here with my family to celebrate my 50th birthday and I was blown away by the food and top notch service. The food is definitely delicious and unique but hell the quantities are so teeny weeny tiny. I wish I could have just a but more of each course and I would be very happy! Regardless of the size, food is very tasty and I love the service.... Simple don't want to talk attitude but will get whatever you need. To be honest it is very overpriced but because it was my 50th birthday I deserve the best. I probably will never be back unless it was a special occasion but this is one special meal I will remember forever and ever. All the courses were so good and my favourite is the bread and the wagyu but I devoured it all.... Drinks were good too.... Love!!!! Great ambiance and not loud .
This is the best restaurant in Vancouver in my opinion.
We've tried every top restaurant we could but this one wins for the most interesting and incredible food, amazing ambiance which isn't stuffy despite it being fine dining, and unparalleled service. You need to try this spot if you haven't and actually care about good food.
Fantastic night at AnnaLena
Everything was immense. The food was insanely good, and presented in fun and beautiful ways, with the wine pairing just elevating it. The combinations are so delicious and cleverly matched. We were looked after really well by Nicole and the rest of the team, who were all really knowledgeable, explaining the food and the wine, and making awesome recommendations for post-meal drinks.
Fantastic
Michelin deserved restaurant. Such a great multi-course set menu meal we enjoyed eqch time we come. Excellent service where you felt well taken care of thorought the evening.

A couple weeks back a group of friends and I had the opportunity to try Anna Lena and I have to be honest I was underwhelmed. While I understand the experience at a restaurant of this reputation will come with caveats our party walked away feeling very disappointed. The restaurant put a lot of effort into presentation and I respect their creativity but nearly every course they put out tasted average. While the servers artfully described each special course, one after another they continued to miss the target. We were polite but simply did not enjoy what made it to the table. And by the end of evening to make the experience worse was we could feel the lackluster care of the staff in addressing what was a visibly unpleasant dining experience. It seemed that they neither cared or were interested. I would have expected some interest in making our experience in the end more palatable but it seemed they lacked the interest. A for effort but a D for execution. No offence to what they were trying to achieve, but for the substantial meal price, we have had better elsewhere.

Holy Hell!! If you love anyone in your life , even if it's just yourself. You have to go here. The food is exquisite. The Drink Devine. The service is unprecedented. Top notch in every way. When you look around the restaurant you will notice little flares of fun and love. Splurge & enjoy. You won't want to leave!

Wasn't the best service we came twice I was expecting more from here. but the food was good.
Absolutely stunning dishes.
Everything from the initial welcome to the final dish was perfectly timed and executed. The kitchen did things with food that we didn't know were possible. My mind still reeks over the most delicious torn bread that was an ethereal cloud of delicious savory. We're food nerds and former chefs yet this texture is still beyond us after contemplating for a month. The lighting music and vibe transported us to our favorite haunts throughout various nations. It was perfect.
ABSOLUTE LOVE.
I actually didn't know very much about this place at all until I surprised my gf with a trip to Vancouver and she made sure we could dine here at Annalena. Now that they are 1-Michelin star, I think it's a bit hard for ressies to come by! Right away just the vibe of the restaurant was soothing. Dark interiors, bold walls, funky decor. You know you're in for a swank experience. I didn't really know what the style of food was, but the drinks were funky and delicious, the flavors on each dish was pretty much explosive & cohesive at the same time, and the entire meal was excellent. I particularly love their idea of engaging with your food in cleaner ways because we definitely feel more feasty when we pick food up, so a lot of creative ways to eat as well. Definitely recommend it!

Managed to snag a reservation at the now 1-starred Michelin eatery and take a friend who was visiting and another who was new to town. I still think that out of Vancouver's Michelin list, Annalena is a place that deserves to be on there. The last time I was at AnnaLena was when I was about to graduate from high school in 2016, when they still did a la carte and I got the sablefish, but the food quality is just as I remember it. The food portion wise was slightly smaller now that it's become a prix fixe set menu, but my party left feeling full from all the course offerings and the richness of the food. These are photos of their "Chapter 65" offering that goes until September 24th, before they move onto Chapter 66 and a whole new set menu. My favorite was the surprise curry puff amuse bouche and my friends liked the truffle noodle + the torn bread (SO FLUFFY and intrinsically flavorful; you should save some to soak up the soups and sauces of the other dishes) We were a little taken by surprise that the A5 Wagyu "skewers" we got as an add on were just one cube, and came in between courses. But to be expected I guess since it's wagyu and the good thing was that the melt-in-your-mouth taste and quality were definitely there.

Ate here recently and was not impressed by the majority of the dishes. Overrated in my opinion
We need 6 stars.
Tonight was next level cuisine and service. The current tasting menu is goosebump worthy. Every bite takes you on a culinary magic carpet ride. We had a special night to celebrate (birthday went next level!) and Natasha and Rev set the table for it to be among the most memorable...ever.
Excellent meal!
We ate at AnnaLena on the first evening of a 2.5 week Canadian road trip, and it was without a doubt our favourite meal! I'm still thinking about the alkaline noodles and cherry dessert today!
Great food and service
We were lucky to get a last minute reservation when visiting Vancouver and it was worth every penny! The pacing of the dishes was good, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was really good and relaxed. Would go back if ever in town!
It didn't match the hype.
Our expectations were high after hearing and reading about the reviews and Canadian rankings of this restaurant. Unfortunately we were rather disappointed with menu. Usually in a high end restaurant, the tasting menu should be varied and "tell a story". Ours was consistently heavy with an over reliance on sauces. A lighter course to balance things out would have been appreciated. While not typical nowadays, perhaps even a palate cleanser before the 4th main course. The desert was equally heavy and sweet. Frankly it should have come with a shot of insulin. It was unimaginative and appeared like it was not made fresh but could have been prepared earlier and left in the fridge/freezer. The wine pours were barely acceptable and for the price should have been slightly larger. Our server was "ok" but not as professional as would have liked again given the standards that Anna Lena purports. We asked for a glass of water at the end of the meal (largely due to the sweetness of the desert) and she forgot. We had to ask her again. Overall, a definite 2 to 3 star meal for a 6 star price.
Excellent food and service!
I just realized I submitted a review in 2017, and my review remains the same. Food is excellent, service very efficient, both pre and post one star Michelin. Special mention of Esme, our server, and Reverie, who attended to us in the most pleasant way. We left the restaurant feeling "just right" -- fully satisfied with the drinks and the tasting menu. Tasting menus in other restaurants tend to leave me begging the server to stop the food from coming. But at Anna Lena, it was perfect.
Wow wow wow!!
What a fabulous find. Service was friendly, relaxed but so efficient. Perfect combination. Food was stunning. Save room for the torn bread as prob the best bread I have ever tried. Also quite possibly best dessert. I can't have cows dairy and they accommodated the dishes to my needs. Will definitely go back when return to Vancouver. And make sure you finish your night with an espresso martini as with everything else, it was amazing
So very mixed!
Firstly, no question the food is wonderful and the service superb. Each course was met by all four of us at table with pleasure. But have to say the loud volume and vibration of the rap music that made conversation difficult made it clear this isn't going to be the celebration restaurant I'd hoped it would be. I need to be able to hear my people's conversation and not have loud music overtake it - no matter how good the food and service is. Would love to hear this practice has changed so I can return and make my taste buds sing again!
