Food was good
The food was ok. The service not so much. The first server was perturbed we asked for a paper wine list. She abandoned us and Alena picked us up. Alena was very very good. We had a variety of apps, all ok. For our main course we shared the pasta bolognese, the duck ravioli, the duck special and the pollo dish. The duck ravioli was absolutely delicious. The others were..good. We drank light and refreshing Lambrusco wine from Italy, delicious. Really wish the first server wasn't so rude, though.

June 2022, our second visit to Ammazza Cafe. First meal was outstanding and second visit exceeded that. Great homemade pasta, creative and delicious drinks, outside patio in back with live music, attentive and thoughtful service and reasonable prices.

I was taken here by two good friends who live close by. Lovely welcome, easy atmosphere and excellent food. Wine was super and I found the digestifs an interesting experience. Visit if you are in the area.

Chance find made my night
We were running late for a show (then she fell - see it, it’s amazing) so needed to find somewhere to get a drink and a snack quickly when we fell (aha) into ammazzacaffe. This place manages to somehow be homely, slick, clean, classy and quirky all in one go! I like to taste the alcohol in my drink and I certainly could in the gin and tonic - the espresso martini was also excellent (and off menu, always appreciated).
After debating about whether to eat or not we settled on some snacks - the calamari was lovely, small but that’s why we ordered it! I also had the aubergine mozzarella starter which was really light and tasty......however, the pork belly was the standout - that is the best pork belly I have had. Ever. Full stop. Go and order it.
Thanks Ammazzacaffe - we’re not local so probably won’t be back, but if I did live here I’d be in this place every single weekend!
Amazing Spot for Italian
Ammazzacaffe is by far the best restaurant in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the service is outstanding. They have an amaro pro behind the bar, a Sommelier on duty and a genius in the kitchen. The owners remodeled the place from top to bottom and didn’t leave a single detail overlooked. From the the elegant crystals at the bar to the custom woodwork throughout, the space is an aesthetic gem. I’ve been coming here since the week they opened. I’ve tried every dish on the menu and they’re all incredible. The prices are low and the portions are big enough to share. Keep up the great work guys!

At first I gave this review 2 stars instead of 1 because the service was good, but after someone of the management staff found my review funny I will downgrade it to 1 since you guys are being disrespectful. here’s the story of my experience there.
To start with... I am truly shocked that this place has 5 stars reviews. They have accommodating and friendly staff but that’s about it. My biggest disappointment was the food. To say that it was mediocre would be an understatement.
I was thoroughly searching for the best place for my bday party and picked this one because of the good reviews. Well, it turned out to be a huge mistake.
Portions size is ridiculously small, appetizer with 1 piece of burned prawn for $7? Like really?! Calamari app had black garlic on it which tasted odd, pancetta app (pork belly) was drown in a fatty and spicy sauce with some weird stuff on the top that tasted awfully bad. You may wonder how someone can ruin a piece of lettuce. Well, this place surely knows how to do it, again, it was drown in the sauce that was way too sour, like a mixture of expired Caesar and ranch dressings. But the number one reward in the category Suckiest Dish goes to Cacciucco Bianco which is a weird combination of a very few pieces of seafood, spicy Japanese dressing and a bunch of soggy bread floating in the broth. Charging $38 for it is a real theft. On top of that, my friend had a teeny tiny margarita for $13 which was pretty basic. And let me add that it took very looong time for the food to be delivered although the restaurant was empty.
To sum up, I cannot describe how disappointed I am, picking this place for my bday celebration. I was really ashamed that I brought my friends to a restaurant with horrible food, poor portions and preposterously high prices. I hope you guys reevaluate the menu and, instead of desperate attempts to be fancy and top notch, choose simpler options with some edible dishes, not an odd mixture of incompatible ingredients that taste like a waste of money. Needless to say we left hungry and hit a spot one block away with some decent food and moderate prices.
Delicious Food, Professional Service, Great Ambience
My daughter took us to Ammazza and she recently became vegan. The chef could not have been more accommodating! Really very very sweet--he made her a delicious special pasta and doctored two of the appetizers so she could eat them but we could have all the dairy/fish trimmings! The food was excellent. The wine was wonderful. Our only minimal complaint is that they only offer one dessert--and it was pannacotta--not our favorite. Their pasta is superb.
Be the first to ReplyABSOLUTELY AMAZING !!!!
One of the best meals in Bklyn to date. All hand made pasta. The sunchoke salad appetizer is the new avocado toast a MUST HAVE.
Friendly & knowledgeable staff and all at prices that won't break the bank.
RUN, don't walk here before everyone finds out and you can't get a table.
