Yelp says they're closed but they have re-opened.
This restaurant has a really cool vibe. We got the chips and salsa to start with. Their salsa is great, I wish we went with their guacamole trio because it sounded great, but my husband wasn't hungry enough for it . For drinks I got the margarita flight because I'm indecisive, all were solid margaritas. We both liked the hibiscus one the best. My husband got the Mezcali it was Smokey, he liked it a lot! I had the chimichanga with barbacoa and it was divine. It came with queso on the side which was awesome. My husband got the Birria quesadilla and as good as my dish was his was next level. We'd definitely come again

We shared a few plates and everything was delicious. The decor is also really fun. I came on a Friday afternoon, but I'm interested to come back and see what it's like when it's busier. Our service was fine, but not anything to write home about. We'll be back for dinner soon!
Be the first to ReplyI wish I could give this place zero stars.
This place has greasy chips but wanted to go here for the margaritas and nachos. They close at ten on Saturdays. Arrive at 845 and there are several people dining at scattered tables. This terrible looking woman comes and says they're closing early and "sorry" but you could tell she wasn't really sorry. I don't know what it is with the restaurant industry. They were hit hard with covid but don't seem to want to work. Must be the laziness and lack of college education that most waiters have. It's like they just want their unemployment. I hope this place goes out of business because they are rude and lazy
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is a neighborhood find.
Our hotel gave us the advice to stop and check this place out. The food is great, service is excellent and the guacamole is absolutely terrific.
Be the first to ReplyI come here quite often and food is always on point.
Jessica has done a great job of gathering the best group of people here. Izzy at the bar makes amazing drinks and always knows what to make you which always happens to be on point. I can never resist the street corn as no one makes it this good anywhere in the area. You always get more than you expect. The portion size of Chicharrones was massive and so flavorful that it needed absolutely nothing added to it and the jalapeรฑos bring a fantastic heat to the richness. It's a must try place if you haven't already. Hint hint you are missing out....My favorite thing about this place is that there are NO TV's and it brings the old fashioned way of just talking to people and enjoying the company of your family and friends. I love that. Now pair that with an abundance of Tequila and Mezcal from numerous places and you have got yourself a wonderful time ahead. This place needs nothing but people enjoying the hard work that's been put in especially during the time where local businesses need the help.

This place is great, my friends and I got the chips and salsa as well as burrito bowls. I got chorizo, spicy but good! Only giving 4 stars because they just opened their outdoor seating back up since the virus started and unfortunately only had limited menu options. Definitely will return to try the other options when the full menu is back! Very good food, pretty good service as well
Be the first to ReplyI apologize for the delayed review - I blame Rona.
The Empire Sisters attended a Drag Brunch hosted by Carmie Hope & Frieda Munchon in association with WYM Productions in March shortly before the shelter in place order began (hence my delay in memory). Sister Holly and I attended and enjoyed their brunch offerings. I went for the ceviche (Mariscos) which was gazpacho marinated shrimp, day boat fish, cukes, red onions, corn, radishes, avocado, fresh lime and tostadas. Unfortunately at this date, I cannot remember what Sister Holly had. Both of us really enjoyed the meal and the service was great. I really thought the ceviche tasted really fresh, and had a nice kick to it. The tostadas that were served with it were great, and plentiful. On top of it all, the entertainment was great as well, the theme was Broadway Bound and all the performers did Broadway Tunes or inspired by. Once the shelter in place is lifted in Albany, this is a place I will be returning to. I may need to place an order to go in the meantime.

First time trying this restaurant and had excellent meals, friendly service and very quick delivery. Although menu is currently limited there are plenty of options. This will be a regular for us-we will try bucket of margaritas next time! Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner from Ama Cocina last night.
Amazing steak burrito and mexican pizza. Salsa and guacamole with those delicious homemade chips. And the Margarita bucket travels very well.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Mexican inspired dishes with a modern twist.
A small group of us stopped in for a late lunch, it was about half full and we were seated right away. We took a minute to decided what we all wanted and we waited quite a while for a server to stop over. After she took our initial order, service was good after that. I began with the house margarita, and it was great. It was super fresh, had no taste of bottled mixers. This is fresh lime juice. I went a little out of the box and ordered an oyster shooter. It was a shot of tequila mignonette, rimmed with chili salt, a fresh raw oyster on top and a wedge of lime. The server gave me instructions on how to take it, it was fun. I would do it again! Two of us shared the 6 for $24 tacos. We ordered the pork belly, pescado and fried scallop tacos. The pork belly was kinda dry, but I did enjoy the flavors. The fish tacos were pretty good, but the scallop tacos were awesome. Would definitely get those again. And for the finale, I ended the meal with the Cold Brew Tequila. What a genius cocktail. It is tequila cold brewed through coffee grounds and a little added sweetness. It's a must! This wasn't my first time to Ama, and probably won't be my last.

So many ways to have that margarita! And the taco options are up-scale and different. Everything I've had here I've loved. The atmosphere is cool but casual. All around a great experience.

The food was great and I recommend the nachos (which are 6 individual nachos - which is great for sharing). I split these with a coworker and they fill you up. We had the plantains as well - again, very good. We got the burrito bowl and the Mexican pizza too. The Mexican pizza was difficult to hold, but that's why they invented forks! We both enjoyed this place and were pleasantly surprised.
