Best rack of lamb we had in recent vacation trips
Thumbs up for every dish that we ordered. Rack of Lamb was the best we had in recent vacation trips. It was juicy, soft and tender.
Alobar delivers on every front, elegant atmosphere,
Alobar delivers on every front, elegant atmosphere, excellent service, and beautifully executed dishes. The seafood was especially standout, and the cocktails were great without being overdone. Yes, it's pricey, but for a great night out, it's well worth it. Sophisticated without being pretentious. We had a great meal and a good time.
Great Yorkville Experience
Just off the plane from New York, we were bit late and needed dinner. Alobar was perfect as was our waitress Sheena. Loved the Grille Sea Beam.

My girls brought me to this bar restaurant for celebrating my belated birthday. Honestly the food was pretty good, the Brussel sprouts were so tasty, the steak was juicy and the dessert (I forgot the name is raspberry cream something and every table ordered it) was fantastic!! The reason why I rated this restaurant 4 stars, just because their service was not that makes people feel comfortable... lol Maybe because our appointment was 8.30pm, and they close around 11pm ish, the waiter pretty rush us I with my girls haven't catch up for a while, so we had a longer dinner time compared before lol In general, the restaurant is good to check out if you haven't been there before.

The helpings are LARGE, so be sure to share! We had oysters, a salad each and an entree- way too much food. Very cozy.

Great atmosphere and delicious food, though I felt the price was a bit higher than what you get. There is a lot of care taken but just felt slightly better than an average restaurant, the price tag did not reflect the overall quality. Would still recommend but not as great as I imagined.

Made reservations for 5:30pm on a Saturday night and lucky we did. The restaurant isn't too big and at around 6pm there was a line. There is a bar area which made the place more lively, but the tables are small so dinner felt intimate. Tables are so small that they had to bring out another table to fit our food. Waitress was lovely and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. She suggested that plates should be shared so we ordered 5 dishes for the 2 of us in my party. Our favorites were the foie gras and the duck entree.

Fantastic fantastic fantastic! I wish I could remember everything that we ordered, everything was so good, I could hardly remember to take any photos of my food! The couple of items that I remembered to take a photo for, we split some Wagyu, ordered a side of Broccolini, and had a fantastic frozen berry desert crisp. Everything was cooked fantastically, and we savored every bite. I thought that I would feel crowded at the restaurant, but they handle their space very well. The service was equally exquisite, we had both a waiter and an assistant that made sure that we didn't have a need in the world. I highly recommend making reservations prior to going here because they seem to be popular and certainly deserve it! I wish that I was able to visit again last month, but I had to try out other amazing restaurants in Toronto. Looking forward to returning!
Great evening atmosphere.
Has a fluctuating menu. Meat was cooked to perfection, carpaccio was the best we've ever had, and the cherry compote for the cheesecake was astounding. Server was great and was very knowledgeable about the menu.
A Michelin Star Experience Worth Every Moment
I recently had the opportunity to dine at this remarkable Michelin-starred restaurant, and it surpassed all my expectations. The highlight of my evening was the handmade pasta, topped with freshly shaved white Alba truffle. The dish was exquisite, offering a perfect balance of flavors. What stood out to me the most was the ambiance. Although the culinary standards are exceptionally high, the restaurant remains inviting and approachable. The intimate lighting and modern music created a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. If I lived in Toronto, I would make it a regular spot for dining. The service was excellent. I was indecisive between two appetizers, but the server kindly suggested I try half portions of both at half the price, which was a brilliant solution. The scallop starter was outstanding, thanks to the freshness of the ingredients, while the lobster dish was also superb. The dessert was a delightful conclusion to the meal. I would have loved to pair it with a glass of Umeshu (Japanese plum wine), which is commonly available in Montreal restaurants. Despite this, the overall experience—from the beautifully designed space to the attentive service—was flawless. This restaurant strikes the perfect balance between high-quality dining and a welcoming atmosphere. I’m eagerly looking forward to my next visit.

We have been here at least a dozen times and think it's the best restaurant in Yorkville. I suggest sitting at the bar and having an amazing meal with a drink
We got a Saturday evening reservation on the patio.
Unfortunately my companion was over 30 mins late but I was not rushed to order at all. Overall, the service here is stellar. The hostess and servers were all patient and friendly throughout our entire dining experience. We tried a significant part of the menu: Alobar wedge salad - tasty but not really outstanding in my opinion Foie gras parfait - not really to my taste 10oz tenderloin with mushrooms (special) - the steak was high quality Confit Duck pappardelle - my favourite dish and the only outstanding one in my opinion. The duck was well cooked and had a smoky flavour French Fries - solid Broccolini - cooked in high quality olive oil Pain au lait (bread) - good bread Banana cream pie - so yummy! The heavier dessert with rum sauce and a lot of chocolate Mille-feuille - very light and delicious if you are full Overall the food was only "good" and not every dish was worth the high price. I recommend getting the desserts and the duck papardelle the most. The other dishes were not outstanding. The portion sizes are not too small, and the desserts are pretty large. The vibes here are pretty corporate/minimal/classy, dress business casual or better. There is also a separate indoor area for private events.
A gem with a vibrant energy
This place has great food and an amazing vibe , it feels like you are in NY and Tokyo at the same moment . The scampi’s were delicious and what a piece of art is the millefeuille .
Shame on you Alobar Yorkville
I never have written a review in my life, but Alobar Yorkville, you should be ashamed of yourself. The servers are not experienced and when I asked what dishes they are known for, the server shrugged and had no suggestions. Our meal was decent, I'll give you that, but for the prices you are charging the expectation is you have service that is acceptable. The best part was we ordered dessert and our server came back and said we could only have dessert if we took it "to go". We weren't even there 2 hours. And how much did we pay for 3 people with 2 glasses of wine you ask - $538.69. Plus we got kicked out without a dessert. This was a business meeting where we all looked at each other in utter shock. Alobar please decide what kind of restaurant you want to be. If you charge those prices (which I am happy to pay), it comes with expectations. Shame on you.
lower expectations if really want michelin rated
inside is nice looking, but basic, dress is more casual (saw t-shirt/shorts and collared shirts/slacks - no jacket, no tie). Place is loud, music too loud, good for groups, but don't expect to hear anyone that isn't seated next to you. Waiter was fair. Forget to bring a salad and then told me I ordered it to come with my entree. Then I asked for it now, and he said food is coming soon - but... there was time for me to get salad. Didn't like he made us order apptz and entree all at once. No blue cheese olives with cocktails (which happens and is fine), so waiter brought green olives with pits (odd). one of the salads we ordered had a big square of blue cheese on it (not crumbled).... well a little smarts might say if you want to sell a $16 cocktail vs. a $4 coke. Not michelin service nor a michelin menu. Water glasses could have been filled more often. If you coming for that, then stop and just go to alo. This was good food, but nothing super memorable or a signature dish. What we had a was good to very good, not outstanding. They did call when someone in our group left their sunglasses behind. Dessert menu was lacking too - 4 items. They did have a nice outside dining area with heat lamps.
Take a pass on Alobar…their Michelin rating days are over
How disappointing! This is not a Michelin star restaurant today…only the prices are and we don’t mind paying but we need to be wowed. The staff from first contact were excellent and our servers were friendly and knowledgeable so no issues there… Of the appetizers we had, only the foie gras deserves mention. The beef carpaccio was topped with crumbs of I’m not sure what. It’s difficult to destroy a beet salad so no need to comment there.. Dover sole at $95 sat in a pool of butter with the butt end of a lemon. Duck confit tagliatelle was way over salted. And generally speaking the presentation was non existent. The star rating was a number of years ago and if they were being rated now I’m absolutely sure they would lose their rating. There are many wonderful restaurants in Toronto so take a pass here and move on.
Hideous Disappointment
It is not unusual to be sent to a bar in advance of one's reservation time. We had arrived early to be sure of the location. I never dreamed that the usher, knowing that it was our anniversary would make that bar our "table". Our most romantic day of the year ended in the cacophony of a bar. The dishes were tasty but spare. No vegetables or the like accompanied the dishes. The menu description was the whole deal. We were drawn there by the Michelin star. I now know what significance to attach to one. I shall always wonder what about us enabled such disdain. Our reservation made weeks in advance meant nothing.
Such a treat
The food was perfection. It was also so refreshing to be to not have to dress to thee nines to enjoy a Michelin star. No foolish jacket and tie rules. The oysters, carpaccio, Iberico pork chop and the mille-feuille were all perfection done. Best chop and mille-feuille i've had in my life. Clearly the pastry was piped fresh, all the puff was crisp and light. There was a dollop of tart raspberry something in it that made it bright. Lots of hype, a terrible disappointment
We had a horrible dinner here and it's hard to fathom that this place earned a Michelin star. The servers, while friendly, were inept. A classic example: one server replenished our glasses of (expensive) sparkling water with tap water. They seemed like they weren't trained and had never experienced high-end dining themselves (though this wasn't high-end, just the prices were). The food was the real stinker. Overall it was either flavourless or heavily salted. For a laugh, ask a server about the "Dover Sole" - we did because at $80 we expected Dover Sole, not a thick tasteless piece of fish that our server reassured us was Dover Sole but was actually two fillets of it stacked together (!).. The wine list offers two affordable options around the $100 range before catapulting into the $600s and above. We have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and will pay any amount of money for great food so it's not about the overpriced items, rather the lack of quality and the ramshackle staff and training. Stumped at how Alobar received its accolades. Perhaps the attention and rapid expansion have made this location lose the plot. I would not recommend Alobar.
Okay, not great
I was a bit disappointed - after having been to Alo, and many, many Michelin restaurants, my expectations were rightfully high. Salmon appetizer was very good. Foie gras parfait was too sweet - they're on the right track with that well-established flavour combo, but for me it was too sweet. And the the way the waitress described it almost made me think she didn't appreciate real fois gras and this was better because it was whipped. Bit strange. The lobster was fine, hard to go wrong with - no clue why the seaweed was served with it, didn't really seem to fit. The mains were disappointing. My girlfriend had the pancetta short pasta. It wasn't chunks of pancetta but a crumble on top that tasted a bit like sand. The dish completely lacked flavour, and the sauce was an unappetizing colour. And was definitely overpriced for what you got. I had the beef short ribs and easily could've made better ones in my slow cooker, they were super basic. Had a bit of a weird interaction with the gentleman filling up water...I thought he asked if we both wanted a top up and I said no thank you, then he kind of turned more toward my girlfriend and repeated the question from start to finish - like, I wasn't asking YOU. Was really a bit embarrassing. Also, we had empty plates in front of us for far too long and the entire meal was way too fast. Anyway, this is not a Michelin restaurant. There are so many deserving restaurants in this city, I have no clue why this place got one. And the same star as Alo?! Mind blowing.
Fabulous dinner at Michelin star AloBar
Had a fabulous time at AloBar. The service and meal were excellent. This us a pricey restaurant, but well worth it. Well deserved Michelin star! This restaurant is very different from ALO, which is a blind tasting menu with a more refined atmosphere. AloBar is a noisy but "happening and hip" restaurant. The La Malinche margarita with jalapeño and the French Derby cocktail were yummy. The meal was delicious. My husband, our adult son and I shared the following: Pain au lait, Lobster wraps, beet salad, fries, broccolini, bone-in rib eye, shrimp with sour dough croutons in garlic butter, mille feuille for dessert and americano coffees. Cocktails were yummy. The Alobar team members that we interacted were attentive, charming and professional. Definitely go!
Poor service
Food was ok but the service was amateur. The place wasn’t full and we still had issues. Tried talking to the manager but she had a bit of atitude.

* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Alobar Yorkville Toronto to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
