Alley 41 Queens Reviews from The Last Year

The second I walked in, the aroma of the restaurant was telling me that the food would be good. I showed up on a 9 PM Saturday and it was almost a full house! Very busy. Lots of spicy food here! Be sure to wash it down with some coconut milk. I got the Flounder Filet with Spicy Garlic Sauce, which was truly INCREDIBLE! Tender milky fish, with minimal vegetables. The garlicky sauce was so flavorful and not unbearably spicy. I could eat the sauce alone with rice because it was so tasty! I highly recommend. This was a huge portion, but I almost finished it by myself because it was so addicting.

Came here on a Saturday for dinner without a reservation and the place is pretty spacious so we got seated right away. It's located kind of away from flushing proper so the restaurant itself is pretty big unlike some of the more cramped spots. The food was pretty good honestly, you can tell it's very genuine Szechuan style cooking. We had the spicy beef and string beans they were both so flavorful. I have never been so excited about any vegetable dishes but the beans were one of the favorite Chinese vegetable dishes ever. We also got spicy fish, the fish was fried first then put into spicy soup. The cooking style is amazing and everything was delicious. The spice they use are fresh and not too much for my taste. Our service though was a bit slow and I think at some point they forgot to make our fish and we had to ask multiple times before it finally came out. Would have been great if service was better but overall flavors are amazing and would definitely come again!
The food was very good, very flavorful and also authentic.
I would recommend the shredded potatoes and the 毛血旺. The service was great, they were very attentive and also very helpful. The ambiance was good too, not too loud and the decoration was good with good lighting also. I would recommend and would come again!

food was pretty good but sadly there must've been someone smoking cigarettes in the restaurant. the smell of cigarette smoke was present for at least 30 minutes. disgusting and rude to all the customers if you ask me.

This place might have just built up my spice tolerance a little. There was a worker chilling by the front door when I walked in, but as soon as he saw a customer, he immediately greeted me and allowed me to sit in to wait. The menu was presented on a iPad. But you weren't able to order from there. You would still have to call them over to order, which is kind of counterintuitive, but we still at least save paper! Note their Yelp free drink check in is still valid! The Mapo Tofu ($16.95) wasn't too bad. It was two pepper signs, doable, and granted me the option to really enjoy its minced pork flavor. Eat all that you can while your mouth still able to detect flavors, because the Popcorn Chicken will numb your taste buds. I don't eat Szechuan often, so the tingling numbing effect still amuses me. Good thing I had my free Coconut milk (from check-in) to balance the spice! With a plethora of dish options Alley 41 has to offer, I am happy to have dabbled in Szechuan a bit through this experience, and it surprisingly wasn't as insanely spicy as I had feared. There was a point where I ate so much I was munching on a popcorn chicken piece fine? I would try Szechuan again because of Alley 41.

One of the best Szechuan food in Flushing! Every dish is big portion and price is reasonable; Mao Xue Wang is their signature, delicious!

Spicyyy if you like spicy food then go for it! The tea smoked duck is very flavorful and skin is crispy, it has a nice smoky flavor. The mapo tofu was good, the chicken is original. Make sure you grab a bubble tea after to wash down the spiciness! Service was good, the waiters checked in a few times to make sure we were okay.

The best Szechuan cake with brown sugar, super delicious! Then you have to try the pork trotter soup, one of the best in New York. Meanwhile, I find this place super authentic, even though they have opened for many years, their dishes are still very tasty.

Ambiance (3/5): The restaurant is located in quite literally what felt like a desolate street off of Main Street. The inside was clean and spacious! The tables are comfortably spaced apart. There's several tables for large party seating available. I loved the huge fish tank stocked with beautiful fish! There was no background music or large volume from the guests and well-lit. Service (x/5): The restaurant was quite only half full on a weeknight. The menus are available via a tablet where you can scroll through the menu items including the pictures that go along with the dishes. Super helpful! Upon ordering with the waiter, the food came out at lightning speed. Food: I'm surprised that this place got a Michelin Bib Gourmand for what we ended up ordering! The taste was off and not worth the price point although the portions were generous. Thousand Layer Pancake (4/5): This was stellar and probably my favorite of the 3 dishes we picked! The pancake was fried to perfection with a lovely crunch but was light on the seasoning/flavor. Sautéed Pickled Beans w Minced Pork (1/5): Not sure what part of the beans were pickled but the whole dish was string beans chopped up into small little bites. There was hardly any minced pork but what little of it was dry but packed with flavors from the seasoning. Definitely spicy. Braised Beef W. Bamboo Shoots (3/5): The broth of the base was flavorful and soy sauce forward. There were generous portions of beef, including tendon that made up a large part of it. The chunks of beef were not entirely tender and some dry, indicating lower quality meats. Tons of garlic cloves!! They were cooked to a soft bite that soaked up all the sauce. I wish that there was more sauce to the dish.
Our fifth time here! Such an amazing experience as always.
The Stir-fried pork kidney, braised frog with duck blood, stir-fried string beans, and Szechuan cake with black sugar are a must-try. Our friend from Szechuan said it's the best local food she ever had in New York! Highly recommend.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
