Probably the least exciting and worst Michelin star restaurant I have ever been to.Ambiance - Loud and very bright. Alkimia itself only has 6 tables and it is connected with another open space that is their tapas restaurant which can get quite rowdy and loud. The restaurant itself and furniture is worn and not in a good and rustic way either. The whole place looks cheap and does not exude fine dining at all. The tasting menu is less than exciting. Granted Disfrutar is a hard meal to follow just two days after, but most dishes here are really neither flavorful nor innovative. When the flavor does not match up to the presentation, one can only say that it is just gimmicky. Two dishes I especially have to complain about:The shrimp head with caviar on top - I was told to suck on the shrimp head. Being Asian, I have had my fair share of shrimp heads in my life so this isn't my first rodeo. I knew not to "suck" on the shrimp head because of the hot burning liquid that is going to shoot into my mouth so I instead gently bit into it. As expected, the juice that came out SCALDED my tongue and the roof of my mouth. I had blisters on the roof of my mouth for the next 2-3 days! Also, a grilled shrimp head with some caviar on top is really nothing exciting to eat. There was also a bone in another fish filet dish. This place was really trying to kill my mouth.The uni dish - I have been to Japan multiple times and frequent Michelin star Japanese places. Wherever this uni came from should not have been served at a restaurant with this supposed caliber. I have had better buffet uni than this. It was not fresh at all and tasted absolutely foul. I had to really gulp some wine in order to wash out the terrible aftertaste. It's been a little over a week since my meal and I really can't remember too much else about the meal. Very forgettable experience with some blatant misses. No wonder it was so easy to get a reservation compared to the other Michelin star places in Barcelona.
