Inflated price due to Holidays
We were looking forward to Afternoon tea at the Brown Palace, however, after checking my reservation and the menu, the price increased from $60 pp when I made the reservation, to $75 for the holidays. There's apparently no difference in the Afternoon tea menu; the price hike is due to the holiday season and the volume of reservations. Recent reviews helped me decide to cancel.

Spectacular! I have waited 20 years for this experience after seeing it in a book on teas. What an experience! The room is stunning. We were seated promptly even without them finding our reservation. Champagne to start. Then breakfast tea, sandwiches, scones, and cakes. All were delicious and fresh. Plenty to eat. Lots of delicate flavor. The experience felt historic. Well worth the wait. Beautiful music in the background. For a Monday, tea time was very busy. Would definitely do again! Great for a special occasion as it was our anniversary.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing food and price
The afternoon tea at the Brown Palace has a lot of potential. To start, the atrium is stunning. It's hard to find a more beautiful setting in Colorado to have tea! The historic tableware is also on point and service was very attentive during our time. We really enjoyed the tea selection as well, as there is something to please all palates. The food left a lot to be desired though for the price point ($75 for tea and a glass of Chandon pre-tax/tip). Sandwiches were dry and meager in quantity and selection, serving only two small corners and one actual slice per person - egg salad (small open-face corner which is a bit bizarre for how messy egg salad is), cucumber (also small open-face corner), and one "Italian" sandwich slice with tiny bits of meat and mayo inside. The American-style scones (more dense than British varieties) and lemon curd were quite nice. The cream for the scones is a big stretch though to be called "Devonshire cream". It tasted more like double or whipping cream which lacks the rich and tangy flavor of Devonshire clotted cream. The desserts were an interesting selection of cookies, but none of the cakes or pastries you'd expect with a proper afternoon tea. All in all, this would be a phenomenal afternoon tea spot if the food offerings were improved (full sandwich slices, more variety, pastries/cakes, clotted cream). In current state, the quality does not justify the price point. If you still want to enjoy the stunning setting, grab a cocktail or glass of wine in the evenings for a better deal.

Great afternoon tea at Browns today for a family event. Lovely, delicious food, good service and ice atmosphere with the piano player.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic afternoon tea
Lovely historic hotel. Afternoon tea was delicious and as close to authentic as weโve found in the U.S. Service was pretty good, server was very nice and knowledgeable though I feel like she was a bit overloaded with tables.

One of the best experiences my wife, two others, and I have ever had. The setting was terrific, the food divine, and the service was outstanding. Not for everyone, but if you like to be pampered - go!!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting, great food and drink, and good service
After a conference, I decided to enjoy afternoon tea at the Brown Palace Hotel with a couple of friends. It's such a lovely atmosphere, and the service was good. There is a nice selection of teas, and I thoroughly enjoyed both the savory and sweet food options.
Be the first to ReplyNot up to standard
I have taken Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace many times over the years. I think the standard is going down - no white tablecoths, limited selection (I dont care for chocolate flavour but most everything in the sweet section contained chocolate), bathrooms were very neglected (paper towel rack had come off the wall so the paper was on the worktop, only one sink was working, the lock of the toilet was only hanging on with one screw, dirty floor). Added to that was the increase in price so I dont think I will be returning.
Be the first to ReplyVery Shabby and Not Worth The Money
Went here for afternoon tea with a group of friends after hearing great things. It was incredibly underwhelming. The hotel entrance from the valet parking is shabby and does not feel special. We were greeted at an old battered check-in desk for the tea service. The table linens were shabby and off white and the napkins were a very faded mustard yellow. The tea was served in giant sized scratched and battered teapots which made them very hard to lift and pour with the strings for the teabags hanging from the top of the pot. Please at least serve good quality loose leaf tea at these prices. The sandwiches were open finger sandwiches served with a smear of tasteless sloppy egg and something that didnโt even resemble chicken, again tasteless. The cucumber was open sandwich on awful white bread. We ordered a vegetarian tea with no egg when booking and there was one very dry mozzarella, tomato and pesto finger sandwich on the plate. (Most mozzarella is not even vegetarian and pesto definitely isnโt, but I doubt they bothered to check). When we asked if it was possible to get more vegetarian sandwiches the very sniffy waitress said there were plenty of vegetarian options on the plate already. Also all the sandwiches were mixed together meaning potentially the chicken and egg were next to the vegetarian ones. Donโt even mind them being on the opposite side of the same plate but not next to each other. The jam for the scones was already on the table in tiny glass jars. The jam was very, very sweet and I would have expected something homemade, especially considering the price. The cake selection was very average and one of the pastries had a think layer of goat cheese which tasted like soap. The scones were ok at best. $70 per head including a tip which was added automatically. This place is over rated and over priced. If you want to see how afternoon tea should be done Google tea at The Ritz Hotel, London. Yes itโs more expensive (but the experience is far superior). Whilst I appreciate not everyone will have an opportunity to experience The Ritz, itโs just a comparison of what a luxury experience should be like and this is sold as a luxe experience and is definitely not. All Iโm saying is donโt waste an afternoon or your money here. Itโs not special. The one highlight was the really nice valet parking guy out front.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Birthday Treat
My bestie and I went to afternoon tea last week. Kayla was a great server. We had the Assam tea, the blue jasmine tea (it really is blue), with a mad hater cocktail and a glass of champagne. It was my friend's birthday, so it was a nice surprise when the piano began playing "Happy Birthday" and a cupcake arrived. I have a mild egg allergy; it was not a problem to have an extra cucumber sandwich. I wasn't really fond of the seafood sandwich, but it is more about the experience. If you are able to have tea at the Brown Palace, it is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Be the first to ReplySuch an amazing experience!
My husband and I visited this place full of history and magic without knowing what to expect since it was our first time in Denver and we can definitely say that it was the best choice we could have made! From the moment you enter this building, the friendliness of the entire staff is great, worthy of its 4 Diamond rating by AAA. We asked the hostess for a table for two people since we wanted to experience tea time, she quickly seated us and immediately our waitress came to greet us with water and introducing herself with us, later she presented us with the selection of teas and what a surprise. . . simply a great and wide variety to choose ! It really is an experience and worth every dollar you pay for it! Delicious bites that are included with the experience, which elevates every moment in this place even more. Every single moment the staff made sure everything was running smoothly. We really appreciate the attention and service of this beautiful place, it is definitely an iconic place in Downtown that you cannot miss if you are in Denver, Colorado. Thank you Asnaku & Hiwat for been amazing and for your greatest customer service . Until the next time Brown Palace . . . Lewis & Edgar Guillory @lifewithhusbands
Be the first to ReplyWatch out for large parties for Tea
We had 7 people in our group for tea. According to the menu, our $55/person tea would include a tea of our choice. This is not correct. With parties more than 4 people, you are limited to 3 teas per table. So our 7 people had to decide and share 3 teas. We wish we would have know that before going. Also, we had two vegetarians at our table. There is only one vegetarian sandwich served, so we asked for two additional plates of those. We still had plenty of the meat sandwiches, scones, chocolates, etc., but out of the cucumber sandwiches. Once we got the bill, we saw they charged us $20 for the 2 requested plates of cucumber sandwiches. We were charged the group tip rate of 20%. From the start, our server was very unfriendly, so we asked other severs for water and asker our server form nothing except the two additional plates of cucumber sandwiches. As our 3 teas were in large pots, she never had to tend to our table other than that request. We will not be back for a long time and definitely will not be back with a party larger than 4.

Exquisite. Scones, tea, tea sandwiches, pastries, champagne, lemon curd cream, attentive servers, lovely pianist.

We had high tea here and it was amazing. The herb scones were especially good, and the sandwiches and pastries didn't disappoint.
Be the first to ReplyFine but Underwhelming
This is certainly the place in Denver for a European style Afternoon Tea. Brilliant of the hotel to offer this treat. Theyโve adopted the traditional format of attentive service and finger foods and do it well enough to be recommended. But having enjoyed various others around the world, I have to say that their food offerings are on the ordinary side. Your hunger will be satisfied by generous refills, but the sophistication and eye appeal of the offerings is underwhelming, particularly of the desserts. $45 per person is a pretty standard charge for this endeavor, but for that price, I expect to have a higher wow reaction.

Elegant experience! Food was great and service was exemplary. Beautiful hotel, except I don't understand why a huge flag had to hang in the middle of the atrium partially blocking the Tiffany stained glass ceiling.
Be the first to ReplyTea in a Lovely Setting
Very nice tea in a beautiful setting! We enjoyed the scones and desserts particularly; the sandwiches were so-so. At $45 a person itโs a pretty expensive tea service, but itโs worth it to spend the time in such a lovely place. Valet parking is $14, not cheap, but necessary given the limited parking nearby.
Be the first to ReplyProper tea time!
I really do love that we have the option of fancy tea time, in Denver. Proper earl gray, but also other flavors, loose leaf in a tea pot with milk and brown or white sugar cubes. Then we've have 3 trays of, shortbread cookies, finger sandwiches and mini desserts. quality taste, all around. Really amazing setup, and not bad on cost. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was in England and I loved it. We'll be back for sure.
Be the first to ReplyDay light robbery at the Grand old place.
I had taken my family of 7 for the afternoon tea for my Niece's birthday. I had one of the worst experience in my life. Servers were very rude and inattentive. Food was way over priced. I paid $460.00. It was worth 1/3 rd of what they charged. And food was terrible. My 2 daughters did not like sandwiches or the scones. I bet I make better scones than that at my home. I went there to feel the ambiance of the historic place , but after dealing with 2 super rude servers I felt that it was day light robbery in the grand old place.
