Imagine sushi so fresh, it practically leaps from sea to plate. That's what this place delivers, with flair. Our evening started with a warm greeting from a hostess who felt like an old friend, offering spot-on menu recommendations that seemed tailored just for us. Each 167 restaurant maintains a remarkable standard of creativity, consistency and taste. It's clear they're not just playing the game; they're redefining it. Every dish was a visual and culinary delight, showcasing a mastery over the art of sushi that left us thoroughly impressed. The consistency and deliciousness across their varying locations is a testament to their excellence. This location is very cozy but provided a very intimate dinning experience.

This was my second time coming here and both times did not disappoint! I am from Chicago, but my sister lives in Charleston so I always ask to go here when I come to visit! The fish is fresh and the options are great. The place is very quaint so you need to make a reservation well in advance if you ever want to get in here. The service is great and you get to talk to the chefs at the bar. Highly recommend if you love seafood and sushi!

When I tell you this place cured all the sushi cravings that I had! Let me start off with the con before I talk about how much I loved this restaurant! Only thing I didn't like is I wish it came with MORE- and maybe that's because I just loved it that much because in reality, the dish sizes were just right! If you don't get the crab fries rice and or the crab rangoon roll, what are you doing??? I told my friend that this was probably one of, if not the best sushi I've had! Honestly, I want to keep this short & sweet (at least shorter than my other reviews) because there's so much I could say! GO VISIT THIS SUSHI SPOT

Though the restaurant is pretty small we were seated immediately. Loved the minimalist atmosphere with sushi decor. I order the Crab Rangoon Roll and the Lobster Fried Rice. The portion sizes are perfect for sharing. The Fried Rice had layers of flavor which made for a memorable bite. Fresh ingredients, and a perfect balance of spices. The Crab Rangoon roll was also delicious and expertly made. I would recommend for anyone looking for a unique sushi experience!

Great food and recommendations from the staff. The Hot Chicken Bao and Duck Fried Rice were delicious. The location is small but great for a date night.

The food is INCREDIBLE! Highly recommend ordering everything at once so it comes out in waves. Shrimp Tempura roll, chicken bao bun and spicy lobster fried rice are a must! The Walu nigiri just melts in your mouth! Also, as a sour beer lover, the rotating sour was the cherry on top! A must have visit.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my favorite experience dining out in Charleston.
We were able to sit at the chefs counter and it was amazing watching the dishes be prepared for every table and talk to the chefs about their favorite picks. The food was great and it all was prepared quickly after ordering. I wish I brought a bigger appetite because I didn't want to leave when we finished. The aesthetic is clean and simple with tight quarters and seating reminding me of restaurants in Japan. Will absolutely be back next time we're in Charleston.

Great food and staff! They were super helpful when we couldn't decide what to order. We got the salmon shiso, spicy hamachi, and spicy lobster fried rice. They all tasted amazing, but my favorite was definitely the lobster fried rice. It's a small spot that I can see filling up very quickly on a weekend, but I went on a Tuesday around 3/4PM and there was plenty of seating.

Oh my goodness - just go! 167 is unmatched with their service and food. Can't wait to go back :) Note: if you sit at the bar, it can feel a little tight. BUT the environment is so fun and you feel like you're part of an experience, so, the bar seats are great!! Lovely for a date night!

Very fresh fish and a nice combination of flavors. The miso soup seemed elevated from the ones I've had from other sushi restaurants.

My experience at this downtown restaurant left me with mixed feelings. While the ambiance exuded a delightful charm and the staff's friendliness was commendable, the overall impression fell short when it came to value for money. Comparing it to other downtown establishments, the pricing seemed a bit steep, casting a shadow over the overall dining experience. However, the positives include a welcoming ambiance that sets a pleasant tone for the evening, and the staff's amazing and friendly service enhanced the dining experience. The menu featured a selection of dishes, including sashimi, lobster bao, and charred octopus. The sashimi and lobster bao landed in the "just okay" category for me, failing to justify their price points. However, the standout of the meal was the charred octopus - an absolute must-try that lived up to its promise of being amazing. In conclusion, while the restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere and exceptional service, the pricing and the average quality of some dishes left me with reservations. The charred octopus, however, is a shining star and a recommendation for those willing to explore the menu.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal we have had this week.
Very small place and you have to get reservations. Little loud inside but great atmosphere. We lucked up and got seats in front of the cooks. We had the crab rangoons which were tasty. I had the Dan Dan noodles which were awesome. Best I've ever had. Wife had the spicy chicken bao. Also very good. Make this a stop in Charleston. You won't be disappointed.

We came on a weekend and reservations were definitely necessary. It is a small place and the seating is pretty limited. Our table ordered a variety of sushi items including different nigiri, a few different rolls, the lobster bao, and the charred octopus. Everything was so tasty and so fresh. I cannot say one bad thing about this place. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and kind. She had many good suggestions for us to try. Overall, this was a great experience and I will come back and recommend this place to anyone and everyone who loves sushi!

This place to me is the go to spot in Charleston; the first time I went to the original spot off East Bay st. Ever since I go to anything with their name. I'm not even a local but I will say Place is straight . Ambience outstanding, service superb, and Foid is totally to die for great fresh oysters shucked right in front of you people and place just outstanding! I can't say anymore if you're ever visiting check out all the 167 Raw spots, bar is aswell outstanding just love the vibe in this place.

167 Sushi BAR was delicious, the staff was amazing, and the atmosphere was great. Everything was fresh and served/plated beautifully. The plating definitely elevated the experience. I would recommend trying the dumplings as well. The sauce was amazing and they're the perfect starters. They were stuffed and delicious. My second favorite thing was the crab Rangoon rolls...oh my how good these were! They were warm, crispy, and mouth watering. Don't pass these up. Over all my experience here was top notch! The staff is very attentive, sweet, and helpful. If you're in Charleston visiting or a native 167 Sushi BAR is worth the stop!

If you liked 167 on King (their main restaurant, you will love this. In the old 167 location, this is great sushi that is fresh and vibrant. Can't go wrong with 167 group. They do good food. Is a little pricey, but that is for the fresh fish they serve you. Enjoy

Excellent fried rice. Had a 7pm reservation...table wasn't ready until 7:30. Unacceptable

Would definitely recommend to a friend. And would certainly go back

I really want to give it a higher rating but comparing it to the other downtown restaurants I really thing this was pricey but the food was just okay. Ambiance was really nice, staff was amazing and friendly. We ordered some sashimi, lobster bao and charred octopus.Sashimi and lobster was just okay for me but that charred octopus was amazing and must order !!!

Yum yum yum!! I had heard 167 Raw Oyster Bar was the recommended spot in town, but when I accidentally reserved this spot instead we still decided to go. And wow am I happy we did! The fish was so fresh and the flavors were amazing. The only tip I'd have is to order the sashimi rather than the rolls. It is so good on its own that the rolls are just taking away from the star of the show.Charred octopus - amazing. The meat was tender, the textures were spot on, and the pineapple yuzu sauce on the bottom added the perfect tanginessButtermilk fried chicken bao - I guess if you're in the south, fried chicken will be good anywhere you go, and this definitely did not disappoint. So crispy and fresh out of the fryer. A must tryMiso eggplant - even the people in our party who don't like eggplant were fans. Packed with flavor and cooked to perfectionOmakase sushi plate - the best way to order the fish in my opinion. Chef's choice, super fresh, maybe not everything will be a home run, but it makes the picking easierMaki rolls - our least favorite of all the orders. Nothing special, but still the high quality fish are tastyIt's a small space, so it's best to make a reservation, but the vibe is cool and the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Service is fast. Come hungry or with a group so you can try as much as possible, it'll be worth it!

I can honestly say this was some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. Dishes were innovative, tasteful, and beautifully presented. Everything was fresh and made to order. Small and intimate with a nice vibe. Service was outstanding. But again, the food was incredible...crab Rangoon maki, duck spring rolls, fried chicken bao buns to name a few. Oh yes, pork belly skewers. Great find!
