Unbelievably good.
Unbelievably amazingly good Ramen, may be the best meal we had in New York. Fabulous service. Great all round experience.

I've been to a the Fukuoka location in Japan. This outpost will certainly fill your craving for Tonkotsu Ramen. Is it as good as the original, not in my opinion. But again m, it's a serviceable replacement. Seems like a line here is the norm, when we showed up our party of 5 was about the 10th group in line, we only waited about half an hour before being seated. Some differences from the Japanese version are, no prepaid vending machine, no pressure plated seats, no water in your cubby, and for some reason the ramen comes in a square box instead of a round bowl. The ramen card is similar, it allows you to choose things like the richness of the broth(go rich or go home), the doneness of your noodles, salt content, add ons, and spice level. The broth was good but was just not as rich or flavorful as the version I had in Japan. The service was great and my young children enjoyed the ramen almost as much as we did

First time to try. Staff were helpful and explained how ordering system works How to ring the bell for dessert. It’s a good experience except that diners were talking, as I understand from the ichiran concept it’s quietly experiencing your meal solo hence the booths, anyway maybe in Japan, hehe, all in all it was fun, circled in their suggestions, I’ll try less salt next time but the broth was flavorful enough and not really salty, the meat and noodles were really good and the green tea dessert.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Dining Experience in NYC
Manami
I’d give this place zero stars if I could. My friend and I were looking forward to come here as we heard so many rave reviews and it’s one of the top rated ramen spots in NYC. However after my experience here, this is hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in NYC. My friend and I came in at 8:10 PM on Jan 3rd. The host asked for our name to put down onto the waitlist (on his iPad). We were told the wait would be 20 mins to an hour at most. We sat right by the entrance and ended up waiting until 9:30 PM. At 9:30 I was confused as to why we were still waiting for a seat, and upon calling the host over, he then said our names were never on the waitlist and he apologized for possibly deleting our names and said we’d be the next ones to be seated. Once we were seated we gave our orders to the server. After 15 mins our orders were brought out, but I realized my order was wrong. I had ordered the ramen “recommended toppings” along with extra pork chashu. What they had brought me however was just the basic ramen, along with an egg. I told the server it was wrong and they said they would bring me the extra toppings but by then my ramen was cold and I asked for another one. They brought out the ramen again and another server asked me to check the order to make sure it was correct now, but it was still the same thing and still missing the recommended toppings and the extra pork chashu. I only received the regular ramen with an egg. I had to tell them yet again that they gave me the wrong order. The third time they finally brought out the toppings and when eating the noodles I was extremely disappointed. I had asked for firm noodles but they were soft. I ended up finishing it because I had spent two hours in the restaurant already. After finishing the server brought us the bill and I went to the front desk and asked for the manager.
The manager, Manami, was extremely unprofessional. She came up to the desk and I told her I was dissatisfied with the service tonight. I proceeded to tell her the events that occurred throughout the night, starting with us waiting an hour and a half to be seated. She wasn’t paying attention to me as she started looking through the iPad to find our name thinking we haven’t been seated yet and I said no, we’re not looking for seats and have already eaten. She then left from behind the desk and started to look for the host for five minutes. The host then came to the desk and I told her the story again and the host said he recalled talking to us but must’ve forgotten to write down our name and apologized again. However, Manami continued to look through the iPad for the name as if we were lying about us having to wait an hour and a half. I then proceeded to tell her about how it took three orders to get my order right, and she then just stared unbothered and said ok yeah sorry. We then stood in silence for a few minutes and the host even noticed the awkwardness and had asked her what she will do. She then took our bills we placed on the counter prior to speaking to her and said well how will you be paying? I then told her I don’t think I should pay the full amount given the events that occurred tonight. She then said well if you told me earlier I would’ve given a discount. I told her how was I supposed to know my order would come out wrong three times? And she said well since you told me after it’s too late. I was extremely confused by this and the host said the next time we come it won’t happen again. I told him we’re not from here so that doesn’t even matter, and they continued to stand there until Manami asked how we are paying. She gave me and my friend our change and didn’t say anything. We left feeling disappointed in that her apology was not genuine and her lack of concern showed how little she cared about our feedback and the service we experienced. She was solely charging us for the food and disregarded our experience as part of the cost. We won’t be coming back here and we’re extremely disappointed as we were really looking forward to coming here.
Unique seating - delicious Ramen and Matcha Pudding!
Ichiran has an unique seating arrangement – each individual sits in a booth. You never see your server, since they are behind a bamboo curtain – that way, tipping is not encouraged either. They server Tonkutsu Ramen – which you can modify if you want to. Their broth is rich and tasteful. Don’t forget to try their famous Matcha / Green tea pudding. Its delicious! It was so good – I went for a second one! Delicious food – unique seating – great experience!

We waited for one hour but it worth it. Very special experience. Though I’m not a big fan of Japanese noodles, this one is good
Be the first to ReplyCash only payment and a bit expensive!
The ramen is very nice and I like firm noodle that I always choose. The staff are wel-trained and providing great services to customers that I am impressed. The only thing I am upset is the payment is card only. I prefer to use cash from time to time. To be honest, the taste is just above average for me. My 10 years old daughter said it is the best ramen ever!! So, we visited there a few times while in NYC.

Uncommon dining - one specific ramen with custom variations in a unpretentious setting. Off the beaten path. The ramen was thoroughly enjoyed and the experience unmatched.
Be the first to ReplyThe pinnacle of ramen achievement, combined with plenty of local flavor
Ichiran is now officially a "chain" with several locations in Tokyo, and yes, one in Brooklyn, NY, but it remains a must stop for anyone who finds the traditional Japanese noodle and pork soup delicious. True, there are many local shops throughout Tokyo (Japan for that matter), and you might find one with a flavor equal to that at Ichiran, but I've never actually tasted better. Combine that with the queue of locals and tourists, the very Japanese vending machine when one makes one's selections, and the quasi-booth style of seating, and you have a great experience.

I eat ALOT of ramen and this was honestly the best broth i've ever had. The place wasn't that packed but we got there early, once we paid for our meal there was a line outside. Its a quick meal but delicious and worth every penny.

Great ramen. On a pricy side but very good. Somewhat unusual of a set up if you opt for the booths in one of the rooms — sitting on high stools in one person “cubicles”. Regular open tables available as well. Ramen packets can be purchased to take home

I was surprised when it said no tipping necessary which justifies $19 bowl if noodle.
Thanks for the complimentary refill. It ends on 2.1.2019
Let's start here. I was disappointed because the hostess told us to wait 10 minutes to be seated. But it was just a misunderstanding. If you want to dine alone experience, you have to wait for a spot to open up. They have table service too which is pretty empty most of time. Same food same menu.
Menu is designed so well. It even tells you how to peel an egg. From start to end, it has been a great experience. The waiter is quick and the food comes quickly too. When asking for refill, that took about 4 minutes.
Food or noodle. At first I felt the amount of food is so little. I was wrong. With refill and the heavy broth, you can easily go over your normal consumption. If you go for the set $24 deal, you will leave happy. I felt medium salty is still a bit too salty for my taste.
