We recently were looking for a place to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We randomly came across The Capital Grille and decided to try it out. And we were absolutely glad that we did! It doesn't look like much from the outside and since it's attached to South Coast Plaza I honestly had never given it a second glance before when visiting the mall. But it's nicely appointed inside and has that classic steakhouse decor and vibe. The food was good and we enjoyed all of the things we ordered. Filet mignon for the wife and ribeye for me. But really, the service is where they stand out. They decorated our table before our arrival with a note celebrating our special day. They made the entire menu open to us including the dinner items. And they gifted us desserts at the end to wrap the meal. Our waiter Eugene was fantastic and attentive and thoughtful throughout. We really could not have asked for more during our meal. And for those who like to be able to talk during their meals, the sound level was at a pleasant level and conducive to chatting. We would definitely come back in the future and The Capital Grille has earned a place on our short list for nice meals!

Serving staff spilled oil/grease on my head, face and clothes and the manager cannot be located. I tried to reach out several times and he keeps evading, he does not attempt to try and get back to me! Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant, (perhaps it could be the specific location this manager manages) our waiter was quite friendly, the carelessness of the serving staff and the way the manager handled this is not okay. The manager's response to this incident: "It happens all the time." Wow, what an amazing response.

Our Steaks were exquisite. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes, they were good but whipped. I prefer small chunks of potato. The staff was great! They really catered to our needs. The ambiance is a little dated but well kept. It's fine dining with an old school vibe. Had a great time! If you' going for a birthday, make sure you note that in your reservation with the name. I'm glad I did. They specialize a card, bring desert for 2 and a little birthday confetti by the card, at the table.
The best salmon I've had! Cooked perfectly.
My fiancé said he's never seen me eat salmon so fast lol The Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon with Marcona Almonds and Brown Butter was amazing. 10/10 My partner got the Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15-Year Aged Balsamic. He loved it and said it was great, He said the meat was real good. 10/10 We also ordered the clam chowder, spicy calamari, au gratin potatoes, and shrimp cocktail. The New England Clam Chowder bowl was disappointing. I would not order that again. The au gratin was alright. And the shrimp cocktail was good. A lot of the sides were not good though. The lobster Mac and cheese was great! 10/10

This restaurant could have been at the top of my list. I made a reservation for two at 4 p.m. through Open Table. The table that was offered to us, even though only a few tables were occupied, was not acceptable. After three attempts, however, we got a good table. We ordered a steak and Caesar salad and a bottle of red wine to drink. Everything tasted good. The service was impeccable, very good and competent. But the people at the stalls were not; they still need a lot of experience. The atmosphere is good, the price/performance ratio is good. All in all, recommended.
Great Food Great Takeout
My husband and I spent our 42 Anniversary with Capita Grill takeout since he experienced an injury not letting us eat out. The food was hot and delicious The portions were great and they included a desert board for our Anniversary. They really helped make our day special.
Great experience
Excellent food, excellent service, and great ambiance. We had the starter lobster crab cakes, followed by the Sea Bass and Filet Mignon, which were perfectly cooked and finished off with a Creme Brulee and latte coffee. All in all an excellent meal.
Just missed the Mark
We started off with a Jumbo crab cake, which was delicious. The crab meat was definitely prominent compared to the breading, which you see at a lot of restaurants. The crab cake came with a parsley aioli that was really simple and went very well with the crab cake. Also, you can tell it’s fresh crab that they crack and pull in-house. It’s a huge difference in flavor compared to canned crab, which might shock you considering how many restaurants use the canned method. I absolutely love French onion soup, and we had to order it here. Solid outing here. I wanted to order the wedge salad to compare it to its competitors (and my favorite), Maestro's wedge salad. It was GOOD, but it didn’t stand up to Mastros. It was still solid with a great blue cheese dressing, topped with a lot of high-quality blue cheese crumbles, and thick (although a little stale) bacon. For the entrée, we had the Porcini-rubbed bone-in ribeye with 15-year aged balsamic. This was delicious. The cut of steak was phenomenal. It was cooked to perfection at the requested medium rare. The sweetness of the aged balsamic perfectly complemented the bitterness coming from the char on the steak and the fat of the cut. For a side, we had the au gratin potatoes. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Lots of cheese and lots of butter. For dessert, we had the cheesecake with a crème brûlée candy crust on top, and it was really good. A little basic, but it will get any cheesecake lover's rocks off. We also tried their chocolate soufflé, which was, again, good, basic, and got the job done. THE NUMBERS: FOOD 4 /5: Everything is made fresh; cuts of meat are high quality, sauces are made from scratch with care, and everything is cooked to perfection. I wish there were a little more innovation here, but if you're looking for a traditional high-end steakhouse with a big emphasis on food, then this is your spot. CULTURE AND SERVICE 3 / 5: Service was GOOD. Our server was knowledgeable and checked all the boxes. Nothing special, though. Wasn’t personable and seemed a little burnt out. Just seemed like he was checking boxes. Also, things moved slowly all around. Culture seems solid here. They have things down for the most part, but it’s not thriving, and it feels like they’re just barely missing the mark to make this a true EXPERIENCE. Perhaps this is why they don’t have the reputation that Mastro's does. ATMOSPHERE AND VIBE 5 / 5: This place excels in an immersive vibe completed by art fixtures, wall art, and architectural design. This place has some of the best art I’ve seen in a restaurant with amazing and godly frames to go along with it. The creative interior design here is next level. They have lots of high-quality warm wood throughout the whole restaurant, from the floors to the walls to the ceiling. Staff is dressed in classical white blazers. Everything is dimly lit with warm lighting. A huge open restaurant with a massive open kitchen that seems like it’s a part of the restaurant. Come here just for the vibe! OVERALL 12 / 15: Would I recommend it? Sure. It’s a vibe. Especially if you like classic high-end steak houses. This is a cool place to take a date or someone from out of town. Food’s good, service is good, It’s truly unique in its design and its decor (it’s WHY). Indulged in a jumbo crab cake to start — crab meat stood out, outshining the breading. Parsley aioli, simple and effective. Fresh crab, cracked in-house — a noticeable departure from canned mediocrity. French onion soup — solid. Wanted to compare the wedge salad — fell short. Good, but not on par with Mastros. Blue cheese dressing, quality crumbles, and thick (albeit slightly stale) bacon. For the entrée, Porcini-rubbed bone-in ribeye with 15-year aged balsamic — phenomenal. Perfectly cooked medium-rare. Aged balsamic complemented the char bitterness and fat richness. Very bad service. Being treated unfairly. Be discriminated
Very bad service we mad reservation in a month ago for Thanksgiving dinner. We made a 350 dollar deposit for a reservation. But we had to wait 1 hour for a table. On the other hand, they let all white people without reservations to get a table first. But they let people like me with reservations and who made deposit payment, wait1 hour for a table. Just because I am Asian and the way I look. I wonder if I am white enough to go to Capital Grill. I think I never white enough to be there because I am Asian, and they are very racist and discriminatory.

Very good quality meats and seafood, very good service. The aged cuts. Very good flavor. The atmosphere is very relaxed and beautiful.

Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
