Bludorn Houston Reviews from The Last Year

1 star bc they took all the signature food items off the menu! We dined here when they first opened up. Everything was AMAZING! From the Foie gras, Lobster Pot Pie, Duck confit, Short Rib Ravioli to dessert Baked Alaska! 5/5 stars Now they removed almost all the BEST items on to the new menu? Why??? Why not keep them and change unpopular items on with seasonal menu? Hope they bring back the signature items! The original Bludorn we all love and remember!!
Ambiance: Upscale restaurant with a rotating/seasonal menu
Ambiance: Upscale restaurant with a rotating/seasonal menu perfect for a formal date night, anniversary, birthday/celebration, or unique dining experience. The food was incredible! My first time trying oysters - really great experience! Knowledgeable and friendly staff/service. Street parking available, bar onsite as well. Beautiful interior aesthetic and nice ambiance.
Food was amazing, ambience was right, and blue cheese
Food was amazing, ambience was right, and blue cheese olives were a smash! Love this place
Bludorn is one of our three go-to restaurants in Houston
Bludorn is one of our three go-to restaurants in Houston for a special occasion. Great service and amazing food, everytime!
food was fair and the servie slow.
the atmosphere and the bar is good. not worth the money.
This was an elevated dining experience.
Service was incredible, the food was perfectly rich and delicious, and the restaurant is simple on the inside with just the right amount of decor. Great cocktail and beer/wine menu. I love how you can see the kitchen while you're dining. I can't wait to return.

Our favorite out of all the dishes we ordered was the octopus. We also ordered the Crab Rice and Half duck. The crab rice was too salty and too wet, and the sesame seeds added were unnecessary and did not enhance the flavor of the crab well. The duck was very chewy and lacked flavor overall. The duck skin should be crispy rather than soft, and the meat should be tender, so the whole dish was lacking. We liked the service here, but the atmosphere was slightly crowded and loud.
Everything was good clean and efficient.
Easy parking nice staff highly recommended reasonable prices
We thought the food was just average.
The restaurant was extremely noisy and very busy wait staff. The restaurant environment seemed very stressfully. The waiter was very pushy for us to get appetizers and desserts. And they wanted to clear our table very quickly in order to turn it over.

First time at Bludorn and everything was outstanding - food, service, atmosphere. We had parker house rolls, squash blossoms, Lobster roll, Gnocci, short rib ravioli and potato wedges. Everything tasted amazing. Cant wait to come back.
So many wonderful things about this restaurant.
.. the SERVICE is top-notch ( from the hostesses to the managers and everything in between), the ambiance, decor, background music are all so great. Even the presentation of the food is exquisite, but I'm so sad to say that the food is just ok. And for the price I'd expect it to be wonderful. It's not. It's not bad, but absolutely not memorable. This was our 2nd time dining and our experience was the same. I watched the chef prepare our smoked oysters appetizer with such care (he had 2-3 people observing him and the chef himself took a picture) and when they arrived they were gorgeous but flavorless. I'm disappointed bc I love everything about this restaurant except the food.
Very nice restaurant serving basic American food
This was out 3rd or 4th visit to Bludorn. The nice bar and the extensive dining area are well decorated, providing a pleasant atmosphere. The place tends to be noisy, especially if you get seated next to a large table of happy diners. Service is helpful, it at times slow and a bit confusing, since multiple servers appear at your table at different times. The menu is quite basic and limited, although the few classics listed are well prepared and nicely plated. The wine list is very good and the wine steward knows his business. The other waiters could use some training in wine etiquette and the correct ways to serving wine (especially considering the price range of this restaurant). We started with Tuna Tartare, creamier than most around town, but still quite delicious; the Squash Blossoms are a nice surprise, and different from other appetizers. The Pea Soup was very good, but a bit bland. The Branzino was served in fillets and it was well prepared and would please most diners. The breast of Duck was served medium rare, and it was chewy, hard to cut and eat and stayed largely on the plate: not recommended. The New York strip came a perfect medium rare and it was a good if not an outstanding steak, served with a pretty ordinary whipped baked potato. The Baked Alaska was one of the best we've had in town and the Pavlova was excellent. Overall, a very nice meal based on fairly common and well known dishes. If you are looking for exciting new dishes, this is not the place.
UPDATE: when you do something well, don't switch it up.
I was really looking forward to Bludorn until I was told they no longer have the lobster pot pie on the menu. That's okay, I ordered the Cobia, as I was told by the waitstaff that it was fantastic. It was terrible. Fish was rubbery and I could barely cut into it. Fish even smelled old... it was so disappointing. No desire to go back to Bludorn for another try..

I apologize ahead of time for the subpar pics but I had to give an excellent review after visiting this restaurant. I came for a work meeting and I think very highly of places that can provide exceptional service and food for a large group of people at once. One downside is the parking: there's really nowhere in the front of the building (though they do have valet) and spots are limited behind the restaurant. Though I luckily was able to find a spot nearby! Now for the positives. Every (and I mean every) dish was well-executed and so flavorful. The bread rolls were very buttery and fresh. Definitely recommend getting the asparagus tart (combo worked out surprisingly well), tortelloni, and blackened grouper because the dishes are very unique though you can't go wrong with anything here. The strip steak is well cooked and not dry at all. They also did a little show when the desserts came out! All of the staff were extremely attentive, welcoming and treated each of us as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. Ambiance fits well for semi-formal get togethers or date nights. Shoutout to the restaurant and staff for a fantastic place! Gained another fan favorite.
To the owners of Bludorn, Last night's managerial actions
To the owners of Bludorn, Last night's managerial actions concerning the Pattons of the restaurant were irresponsible! If the restaurant had to close due to a power outage in the vents(Lights still on in the restaurant), let the customers stay until it is safe to leave. Forcing us out into the hazardous weather was neglecting your duty of care. We decided to stay put until the worst passed, even though the staff hovered over us. They removed plates, and glasses and asked us to pay our drink bill in case the computer went out. The Hero of the night was the Valet that had to get everyone's car in the bad weather.

We decided to have dinner here for a friend's birthday and I have to say it was amazing. The owner sent us out some asparagus dish that they make that was phenomenal. The raw oyster (in my opinion) are so much better than the chargrilled ones. We all sampled different meals and shared family style. The food was sooo good and the drinks were strong. This place is definitely worth a visit. The staff and the environment of the place is just cool. Sorry I don't have pics of the dinner, we were starving .

I took my family there for mother's Day brunch and was blown away. The food was OUTSTANDING! Biggest and fluffiest pancakes I'd ever seen. I had to try my son's choice and they were great. I had the short rib and eggs and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the shrimp and grits which she said was great also.
Fine Dining in Houston
Pricey spot.. Food was darn good though. The oysters and Black truffle noodles were on another level of supreme. Beef Wellington was a 4/5 but the rest of the meal made up for it. Service was very good which could be expected due to price. Good selections of wine but most are over $100, for a special occasion this place is a great choice
This is my go-to place for special occasions.
Delicious food. Generous portions. The service is excellent.
The service was the best - incredible waiter named Paul.
Very cool bar to hang at, I loved the Clover Club drink. Went on a Monday and very lively. Loved all the food and desserts.
The food was delicious.
And I had a lemon drop and a Cosmopolitan martini which they were both delicious. What made me very angry once I got the bill was that one glass their house Cabernet was $32. One glass! That is outrageous, a house line should never be over $16. Never again. It makes me absolutely hate the entire restaurant because of that. If you're OK with spending $32 for one glass of house wine then go for it.
WoW the Oysters
Came for Sunday brunch with friends. Great vibe, fabulous food and pretty good service too. Loved the oysters - we had a mix - raw, fried and baked. The other dishes were fab too. Highly recommended

Not a pleasant experience Food is overrated and the waitstaff is most annoying. They multiple waitstaff systems is not working. Also ordering the entire meal from appetizers to desserts is annoying!
Great restaurant, but be forewarned on the prime rib.
The first time I went to Bludorn early in 2023, I loved the restaurant. I went on a Wednesday night to take advantage of the prime rib special and the roasted prime rib with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and Yorkshire pudding was fantastic. The next time I went on a Wednesday night again for the prime rib special and they changed it from roasted prime rib to smoked prime rib. Prime rib is not brisket and the heavily smoked flavoring or the meat RUINED the prime rib as far as I was concerned. I realize this is Texas but prime rib is supposed to be roasted and not smoked. I still give the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars because of their excellent service and the rest of the menu being wonderful. But if you go on a Wednesday for a traditional prime rib dinner, you may be disappointed if smoked prime rib was not what you were expecting.
Fantastic early birthday dinner
A great new addition to our list of favourite restaurants. Upscale, modern and great vibe with sophisticated atmosphere, Bludorn is fantastic! We had a great dining experience. We were there for a dinner on Saturday. Both the bar and restaurant were packed. Very obvious that this restaurant is so popular. So booking is essential. They also have an outdoor seatings. Our food was scrumptious and delightful. Fully recommend the Squash Soup and Mushroom Risotto for appetisers. The Octopus was really tender. The steak was succulent and cooked to perfection. I could taste the freshness of the Halibut. I loved every bite of the food that I have tried. So tasty and flavourful. We ended our meals with a few desserts. Baked Alaska and Beignets were delicious. Service was efficient. Staffs were knowledgeable and attentive. We valet parked our cars. So looking forward to go back for more!
