last week, i came in with a daytime date, with my girlfriend and we looked around ,the place was emtpy. I saw three guys in aprons just standing around on their phones. my date and I took a look around to decide if we wanted to stick around. another guy comes in,and the staff looks up at him, looks him up and down and one of them says "NO!" loud enough to where we each overheard,i'm very sure the guy who came in right after us also heard it. and my date turns to me and says "let's just go". in short, I personally witnessed the wait staff trash talking about a guest. A GUEST! while it was obvious that they were talking about him, there were 3 of us who had come into the dining hall,my date and I just turned around and walked out. while,i'm not invested in the majority stars as I understand exactly how friends and folks associated with the place are the 5 review givers. it's important to note that, that was so messed up to witness and looking at the actual reviews of 1 stars makes way more sense. wouldn't recommend this place to anyone because it's evident that the owner doesn't care how their staff treats potential guests. I didn't want to mention it,but the guy was a black man,and that was such a rude thing to witness. now that i'm seeing all the comments,it's actually starting to track. we will not be back, that wasn't okay. that was done in such poor taste! So Shameful!
Gorgeous interior and good vibes in the rooftop.
Some of the best pita in the city and love the whipped feta. Unfortunately service was a bit slow when I went for brunch.
Such a vibe! Great place for a date night with the people
Such a vibe! Great place for a date night with the people you love. Drinks were made very well. The food came out sizzling hot. We had a few apps and a few entree and all were 10/10. Portion size was fair.
Lovely brunch spot located within Fulton Market.
Be sure to take the elevator to the third floor. Wide open space dining indoor and al fresco. Be sure to schedule a reservation ahead as they tend to get packed on the weekend. We had a nice balance of entrees and libations (pictures attached). The venue is beautiful and instantly, one can feel transported to a spot in Europe. Be sure to add Aba to your dining experience!
We visited Aba in Chicago and absolutely LOVED it.
I was so excited to find it here in Austin. Wonderful food, service and atmosphere in both locations. I am so looking forward to our next visit.

We visited Aba and sat on their outdoor rooftop, which was gorgeous with their lush plants and comfortable seating. The mocktails were delicious, but the food was pretty mixed. Our favorite dish was the avocado hummus, and our least favorites were the brussels sprouts and broccoli rabe because of how fried/charred they were, barely edible to be honest. Everything else fit somewhere in between.
Every time I've gone to Aba, the service has been amazing.
The staff is always welcoming and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. They do take walk-ins, but I definitely recommend making a reservation if you don't want to wait since it's usually busy. The dips are the highlight here the garlic and classic hummus are delicious, but the charred eggplant dip is my absolute favorite. Paired with their fresh, warm pita, it's perfection. I've also tried the falafel and crispy potatoes; both are decent (though the potatoes are a bit too chunky for my taste), but the dips are what truly stand out. The ambiance is beautiful inside and the patio is fantastic open year-round and always a great vibe. Add in a fun happy hour with good drinks and bites, and Aba easily becomes one of the best spots in the city.
Aba means "father" in Hebrew, and the restaurant lives up
Aba means "father" in Hebrew, and the restaurant lives up to the name with food that's confident, comforting, and memorable. If your father was not like that, maybe you can relate to Rodney Dangerfield's memory of his father..."My father carried around the picture of the kid who came with his wallet." Whatever your paternal memories are, Aba is a winner. We started with the Greek Village Salad, a generous mix of ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, olives, and a big wedge of feta--fresh, crisp, and briny in all the right ways. This is an authentic Greek Salad meaning no lettuce but other excellent fresh vegetables. The Avocado & Fava Bean Spread was smooth and bright with just enough jalapeรฑo kick, perfect with warm pita. The Big Eye Tuna & Watermelon was a standout: ruby cubes of tuna paired with sweet melon and citrus, light and refreshing without being fussy. For the main, the Grilled Chicken Kebab came out juicy and well-seasoned, rounded out with sweet pepper and zhoug sauce that gave it a little edge. The food is yummy but the patio is the story here if the weather is good. Eater, Thrillist and other reviews agree. Think lush greenery, airy vibe, and sun/shade with some tables and some sofas make it feel like a Mediterranean getaway in the middle of Chicago. Kudos to our server Rebecca. Take my fatherly advice and go, especially if the weather is great and you can sit outdoors.
Incredible , delicious , perspective shifting.
Come and drop a bunch of money on a delicious meal. It's worth it. Not overrated. It was so good I'm literally going to pass away
Went here for a girls night, and we were very impressed!
Went here for a girls night, and we were very impressed! The ambiance is dimly lit, cozy, yet sophisticated vibe. Our waiter was helpful in describing the menu items. Our favorites were the pita (so soft and fluffy), hummus, and crรจme brรปlรฉe pie. It was recommended to share plates, with having a total of about 3 plates per person.
Beautiful restaurant, food could be better
This restaurant is very beautiful, especially the outdoor seating is amazing. Service could have been better, we almost finished our plates and the kids were still waiting for their food. They had the chicken and rice bowl , which was kind of dry โฆ. The hummus was great, as were the cocktails.
Great spot for brunch
Service started a bit slow, but the bar was bustling for Saturday brunch. The chicken kefta was delicious-seasoned just right and comes with rice and tzaztiki. Decor was nice with both indoor and outdoor seating.
AWFUL EXPERIENCE
I had an awful experience with this restaurant. this is the third "lettuce entertain you" restaurant I have been to, and each experience has been worse than the last. My food was overcooked. and the service was bad and slow. I'm pretty sure it's a management problem because everything seemed really disorganized. At this location when I was walking through the restaurant, I saw people in the kitchen handling food without gloves or hairnets. that is disgusting. Imagine the person handing you your food had been touching raw meat amongst other things. My underaged cousin was served someone else's alcoholic beverage. what in the world. Awful experience. I don't really blame the servers or the cooks it is managements job to ensure that food is handled properly and that the servers don't have to much to do.
Definitely find this place!!
I did not have a reservation and was short on time so I sat at the bar which I was told had a full menu. My server was quick and attentive. The ice coffee was delicious and very welcome on a 90 degree day. I came for the falafel and ordered the eggplant spread to go with it. The falafel balls were crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside=perfect! The garlic sauce they rested on was very tasty. The eggplant was smooth and smoky=perfect also! They came with warm soft pitas made in house with zatar, delicious!!
Loved it!
Great experience! We had a hard time getting a reservation but it was worth it. A very trendy fun spot. Loved the chicken kebab. We also loved the restaurant week deals
Amazing all around!
Food was insanely good!! Highly recommend the short rib hummus, hamachi, lamb kefta, brussels, halibut, whipped feta, creme brulee pie, date cake. Desserts are decadent and DELICIOUS! Prices are a bit high given that these are small plates, but honestly it was worth every penny. My advice is to order a bit at a time. We put our entire order in at once and everything came out so quickly. We felt a bit rushed. The waiter did say that he would pace the foods, but the pacing was much too fast. It is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. We wanted to linger a little longer. Cannot wait to go back and try all of the other fabulous things on the menu.
Worth a visit.
Excellent food, even better service and reasonable pricing, a very enjoyable experience and one of Chicago's best options.
Nice ambiance, good food
Dined here to try restaurant and celebrate a birthday. Middle eastern food served tapa style is the vibe. Food was good not great. Pumpkin hummus with warm pita bread was excellent. Hamachi and chicken were good. Crispy potatoes and lamb chops were very good. Drinks were good also. Service is attentive and helpful. Ambiance is nice. Food doesnโt have me rushing back, but we had a good dining experience overall.
Great vibe in a cool area
Aba is fantastic! Five stars for the great vibes, amazing menu, and incredible food. The chocolate babka French toast is a must-tryโabsolutely delicious. Perfect spot for a memorable meal!

This place was perfect! The atmosphere was a vibe.
The food was too good! So happy to have tried this place.
Great flavor profiles! Well thought through dishes and
Great flavor profiles! Well thought through dishes and beautiful restaurant layout. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. Be sure to make a reservation well beforehand! Ambiance: Located on the third floor, this restaurant has beautiful rooftop views of Fulton market, lots of natural lighting, and has an array of seating options. Decor is lovely and perfect for your Instagram brunch photos. I rate the ambiance 9.5/10. Food: Everything I tasted here truly was divine. I truly loved every dish I tried. I came here for brunch and ordered the Whipped Feta spread, Jerusalem bagel (with the smoked salmon dip), Hamachi, and Short Rib Shakshuka. I definitely recommend ordering the bagel with the smoked salmon dip and whipped feta. The bagel tasted awesome with both dips!! I couldn't stop eating it. The hamachi I got came with pomegranate, lime, and kiwi which sounds odd together but it paired perfectly and was very refreshing. The short rib shakshuka was everything I wanted it to be- this is a safety, definitely must try dish. This dish tastes like home - it's warm, seasoned with hints of cumin with tender short rib, so tasty! We also got the Carajillo Martini (Aba's espresso martini) which was perfect with our brunch! I rate the food 9.7/10- really amazing. Service: We sat at the bar and our server was attentive when available. He answered our questions and gave us worthy recommendations. I rate the service 9.5/10. Overall rating = 9.5/10
stopped by recently for HH!! what a beautiful space.
i love everything i ordered but the fried sunchokes were very chefs kiss. service was great :-) we will def be back to try out the rest of the menu

Aba is a beautiful restaurant with profesional service and amazing food. All their dishes are full of flavor and far from boring. I wish their tables for two were a little bigger though.
My husband and I went to ABA for our wedding anniversary.
The space is beautiful however the host stand forgot who we were and tried to seat us under the wrong name. When they found our reservation they tried to seat us at a table next to the server station/ hall to the bathroom. I told the hostess it was our anniversary and we would like a different table and would be happy to wait for one outside (the whole reason we made a reservation at the restaurant). Instead she sat us at a high top in the indoor bar for 4 people. Not ideal. The bartender was our server. He did not know what gin was used in the passion fruit gin cocktail and told me it was batched. We repeatedly had to ask for water, had to ask for new silverware and the food was mediocre at best (hamachi was a throw away- components didn't go well together; short ribs tasted like pot roast; pork belly was over cooked- bartender told us these were some of the best items on the menu). One positive was the bartender did comp the gin drink when I told him I was having an allergic reaction to it. Overall a big disappointment for coming into the city to celebrate a special occasion and as a professional in the food service industry. Will not be going back.
Atmosphere 10/10 Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Need I say
Atmosphere 10/10 Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Need I say more? We got the short rib hummus (12/10), diver scallops (11/10), grilled salmon (9/10), and sticky date cake (7/10). We have a sweet tooth, and the dessert came in last (but was still delicious!!!) - that should say something to you. I can't recommend this place enough. It was the best meal we had in Chicago, and one of the top 3 of our lives! We will definitely be back.

We came to celebrate my birthday (fiancรฉ booked our reservation a month in advance) and it was wonderful! Service was very attentive and food came out warm and fresh. We are big eaters and brought half our food home. Decor was nice as well, lighting wasn't too dim which I appreciate. Some highlights: - Charred eggplant dip: a MUST, and they give you a ton of bread on the side - Shortrib hummus: meat was tender and hummus was very smooth, almost like mashed potatoes - Truffle orzo: very rich and creamy, you almost have to take small bites because the umami flavor is so strong - Mediterranean Mule: a very light and refreshing drink to go with the meal Overall we would definitely come back!
During our first visit to Chicago, we booked Aba to
During our first visit to Chicago, we booked Aba to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. Jenny, also manning the bar, was our server. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and happy to answer any of our questions. We watched her make some amazing drinks all while taking care of us. We shared the CRISPY SHORT RIB HUMMUS*, grilled onion, sherry, beef jus, 18.95 with pita and gf crackers. Amazing! We shared the DIVER SCALLOPS, strawberry, artichoke mash, mint, pomegranate molasses, 32.95. Absolutely phenomenal. For dessert, we got the FROZEN GREEK YOGURT v Passion Fruit, Basil, 11.95 and the STICKY DATE CAKE v medjool date, sumac, whiskey caramel, whipped cream, 11.95. I would pass on the Greek yogurt but the sticky cake melted in our mouths. While dining, the gentleman next to us mentioned the BRUSSELS SPROUTS v almond & cashew dukkah, harissa honey, 14.95 were the best he'd ever had. Between overhearing that and the Sticky Date Cake, we booked again for the following evening!!! The second night was just as good as the first. This is not an inexpensive dining experience but the quality of the food, the amazing service, and the upscale atmosphere all play into those prices. We'll be back the next time we visit the Windy City.
Tough to not order everything in the menu.
Great food and our waiter was perfect. Lots of great cocktails to choose from. Beautiful inside.
Indoor garden restaurant 10/10
The interior design was immaculate!!! Also the food was delicious. Glad I stopped by. Definitely need reservations for a table but itโs worth it. It feels like you are sitting in a garden.
The appetizers are pretty good, and the ambiance is great
The appetizers are pretty good, and the ambiance is great no matter time of year. However, even if you have reservations they will ALWAYS make you wait for your table. We've gotten there right at open when the tables are all empty with a reservation and they still made us wait 10 min to make it seem busier than it was. Not the greatest staff

Outstanding!! I always heard this was place was famous for their atmosphere and food but didn't think it would exceed my expectations. Would 100% recommend.
Hard to argue with all the great reviews.
All our dishes were really good - even ones that may not have sounded amazing from an onset. We had half a dozen dishes to choose from, the waitress was on top of things, the drinks were good, and we really loved the ambiance. It was a truly perfect spot to meet out some friends and to enjoy a nice evening with them.
Good food, acceptable service.
Overall a good experience. Some dishes we liked more than others but most would concur. The good was between good and very good, B to B+. Wait staff was fair. Needed more training and refinement. A bit abrupt. Also be aware of the quantity of good you order. They clearly try to sell you more than you need.
Chicago's Best
This was a wonderful dinning experience with our friends. We tried many things on the menu and found them all delicious. The spreads were wonderful. The kabobs were great and do not forget desert.

My second time here and won't be my last! Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food and drinks made for an excellent dining experience. Went with someone who hadn't been before and she absolutely loved it. We enjoyed the short rib hummus, grilled halloumi, brussels sprouts (not pictured), crab cakes, and chicken kefta kebabs. Save room for dessert- we had the chocolate orange cremeux and it did not disappoint.
I've been wanting to come here for so long, especially
I've been wanting to come here for so long, especially since I loved Ema. Everything was so good - the portions were very reasonable for the prices. The whipped feta was definitely my favorite, since the bread that it comes with was amazing. I also really enjoyed the King Salmon and have not had a lot of dishes like the ones I had here. The inside was so pretty and we sat at the first come first serve bar! The service was so nice and understanding - they gave us a lot of recommendations. I will be back soon!
Trendy spot with good food
Nice spot with special menu. Service was top. Maybe the wine list needs to be a little more special, in particular with the foreign wines.

The entrance to this place was hard to find since it was upstairs of this building at the corner of the street. Once I was up, the place was decorated amazingly with both outdoor and indoor spaces. Went there on a Sunday and it was packed! The vibes were immaculate. The food was so yummy too. Their cocktails were out of this world. If you are finding a cute little place for brunch with some of your friends and willing to pay a little more, this is it!
Took us a second to find this place, but when we headed up
Took us a second to find this place, but when we headed up the elevator to the second floor, we came out to the gorgeous (almost restoration hardware cafe vibe) space!! We snagged a reservation last minute and thank goodness because it was packed. Our waiter walked us through the menu thoroughly and we began staggering our orders. Our table of 4 shared everything so we had 8 total dishes. The whipped feta and short rib hummus were AMAZING. Both had such strong flavors and came with warm, fresh pita that was seasoned and so good. The tuna carpaccio, two chicken dishes, steak frites, and truffled orzo came next and every single thing I tried, I loved. Every dish was pieced together so well and the flavors and seasonings and spices were the perfect unique blend. Amazing restaurant - 10/10 will be back!
wow, just wow.
First of all, Aba is a really gorgeous restaurant and feels very Fulton Market/cozy and luxurious. I came here for dinner with 2 of my friends on a Friday with a 7:15 reservation. our server was rlly nice and took the time to go through the menu with us and gave us suggestions based on what's popular. Aba is mezze style and you should definitely share. we started off with the Muhammara & Crispy Short Rib Hummus and the portions were much bigger than we expected! we ended up taking a little bit of each of the dips to go. they bring out plenty of bread for the dips, so no worries about that. the short rib hummus was delicious & rich and we all decided it was our favorite part of the meal overall at the end. the muhammara is interesting - very tomato-y with a kick. it tastes like the base of shakshuka (yummy, just a little curious). then we got brussels sprouts and the salmon kebab. the brussels sprouts were pretty simple but cooked well & helped balance out our dish. the salmon was also good! i liked the little green sauce that came with it (chimichurri?) and the rice was exactly what i wanted - a little oily but light. not the main attraction but was still good. for drinks i got the blackberry green chile g&t which was delicious and had a little kick to it. i would definitely get it again and if you're a fan of g&ts it would highly recommend. overall, i would say the short rib hummus is a must try! i'll definitely be back at Aba to try more of the kebabs and other dishes! would highly recommend dining here for Mediterranean food lovers + anyone looking for a high quality meal. we all left absolutely stuffed and happy :)
Aba is a beautiful Mediterranean restaurant in the Fulton
Aba is a beautiful Mediterranean restaurant in the Fulton Market area that is a must-try while in Chicago. Love the atmosphere in here: are classy nature vibes a thing? That's what I'm getting here. I definitely suggest reservations: we came in at 4:15 on a weeknight and by 5 the place was Our waitress was lovely and so helpful from the get go. For drinks, I enjoyed the Blackberry Chili G&T (not spicy but does have an earthy kick to it) and absolutely loved their espresso martini-well done! We tried a variety of small plates: -Our Favorite Dips (happy hour): a great sampler of their top selling dips. -Japanese Sweet Potato Hummus: a unique dish, it's hard to describe but imagine a sweet potato in...hummus form? delicious. -Brussels Sprouts: my favorite dish of the evening-some of the best brussels I've had, loved the honey sauce. -Truffle Baked Orzo: another one of my top dishes of the night, and I'm so happy they seasoned and salted this well. -Falafel: a nicely-done falafel and the sauces they're plated with are tasty. -Crispy Potatoes: the only dish of the night I really didn't enjoy-they were just bland, heavy and I should've sent them back. i also really appreciated how they take allergies seriously here: i have a shellfish allergy and they took careful precautions and even put little allergy toothpick "signs" in each of our dishes!
Wow wow wow I am joining the aba hype train because this
Wow wow wow I am joining the aba hype train because this was one of the best meals ever. I get why it is so hard to get reservations here. The vibes are amazing (inside and outside). We got a 7:15 Friday reservation on the covered patio (march). Definitely prettier patio vibes in the summer but still so lovely! The service was awesome - water refilled consistently, and our server gave us recommendations of the most popular dishes from different categories, and each dish came out so promptly. We started with the short rib hummus and the muhammara and I will be DREAMING about this hummus for days. The bread was warm and they brought plenty of it, and it had so much flavor. Also loved the muhammara, it was a fun balance of spicy and sweet, almost like a hint of salsa meets shakshuka but also with a hint of sweetness from the pomegranate and crunch from the walnuts. Definitely fun to try! The espresso martini was also delicious. My friends got other cocktails and we all really liked the blackberry G&T. We also ordered the salmon kebab and the Brussel sprouts. The salmon was light and fresh with lemon and the Brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy. I liked how they were flavorful but not too heavy or saucy. When I tell you the portions were way more generous than I was expecting!! We were so full and had quite a bit of the dips leftover. I greatly appreciate when restaurants actually give you your moneys worth in portions and aba sure does! For 3 of us, 2 dips, one kebab entree, and the Brussel sprouts was definitely the right amount to be full with a few leftovers! The star of the show was definitely the hummus (worth the hype). I have heard wonders about their desserts so will have to come back to try them! They also have matchbooks here (if you are a collector like me) but they were sadly out of them this time, so I'll have to gladly come back for that too :)
Disappointed
My family and I went for my birthday dinner on 02/26/2024. The place looks amazing with beautiful decorations and nice greenery. Unfortunately food was not up to the same high standards. My husband and both sons had stomach problems , nausea and vomiting after our meal. They ordered the skirt steak and grilled lamb chops. Food was cold , meat was old and chewy. Even vegetables were soggy. Fair to say appetizers were good but main courses were extremely disappointing.
Great appetizers, good wine, but did not meet expectations
I wanted a nice restaurant for my birthday. We live in the West Loop and despite the recent mixed reviews, chose Aba from a list of Michelin-rated restaurants and a neighbor's recommendation. We have also traveled to both Greece and Egypt in the past two years and enjoyed the cuisine so both my daughter and I are familiar with the tastes. Pros: Was able to get a weekend reservation day of - that might have been a clue. The server noted and communicated to the chef an ingredient allergy The wine steward was able to give insights into the wine. The Stracciatella, classic hummus, and charred eggplant spread were 10/10. Cons: The grilled halloumi and Faroe Island Salmon were borderline awful. The Halloumi tasted like grocery store cheese sticks in turmeric sauce and the garnish for the salmon lacked a taste direction. Worse of all the server after she took the order and figured this was only a $40 tip was MIA. In typical LEY fashion ignored the two-person party and gushed over the larger groups of which there were several. I did not realize this was a LEY restaurant until we paid the bill, I swore off this group after two other similar experiences. Their line is set up so kitchen staff brings the food, this leads to couples getting ignored and servers going all out for large groups. So for happy hour - yes, full meal, no.
Mediterranean tests
I definitely recommend this place, particularly if you like tasty food and enjoy sampling a number of items. We were there with our family and enjoyed every dish. i recommend starting with a reasonable number of items, even if the waiter suggests more.
Great, overall
Really enjoyed everything about Aba: the food is good, the portions sizes are perfect for sharing, the atmosphere is nice. I like that they have a patio which is nice and heated in the winter. The patio feels more spacey vs the indoors dining area -which is way too close and claustrophobic for me. The service is great too, with the right balance of attention. Will be back in warmer weather.
Not worth the hype
Aba is not worth the hype. My friend and I tried for months to get reservations so we were really looking forward to it. We were very disappointed. The waiter took our drink order and recommended two plates per guest. After delivering the wine and taking our order, he disappeared. We asked bussers to refill our water and take away plates. The chicken kebab was overly salted, the cauliflower kebab bland, the warm Brussels came cold, and the pumpkin hummus was just okay. We would have ordered more wine and tried dessert but our waiter never returned. We asked a hostess for boxes and our check. Thatโs when the waiter reappeared asking if we wanted anything else. Just the check, please. Wonโt be back.
Delicious Mediterranean brunch
We had a delicious & reasonably priced brunch for 4 with excellent service and the food was amazing. Loved the atmosphere & vibe.
Great food in a beautiful vibrant setting
Was so glad to get a chance to dine at Aba this week. This whole area puts NYCs Meat Packing District to shame. Here this Fulton Market/West Loop area is clearly the place to be. So vibrant and full of energy. Aba is set on the second floor above Beatrix with a small sign about its entrance. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the servers know their sh*t and just want to be sure you feel accommodated. I ordered the salmon kebab which comes with rice. Priced well and absolutely delicious. The sweet corn Hummus is tremendous. Loved this place and I will be back once Iโm in town again. Beautiful open design complete with an outdoor deck and bar.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
