Vin Mon Lapin Montréal Reviews
A Nice Wine Bar- That’s It
Chosen as Canada’s best restaurant, Mon Lapin was a huge let down. One caveat, the temperature in Montreal was hot and humid, 93 degrees, and Mon Lapin was full. Our decision to sit at the bar facing the kitchen was stupide, because it was hot. Everyone at the restaurant was lovely, but we were miserable nonetheless. Our hope relied on the food, but the dishes did nothing to lift us out of the inferno. Sticking to a seafood theme, we chose to start with the scallop sandwich and the raw scallops from the Iles de Madeleine. Mon Lapin holds onto a small plates concept. Everything is to share. Both scallop dishes were refreshing but nothing more. For entrees, we chose poached Halibut and marinated white asparagus with lobster. The Halibut was the star of the evening, but that star isn’t getting a review in Variety. In fact, our comped tiny Cannolis tasted best of all. While service at Mon Lapin was well-meaning, they were all running around frenetically. It was akin to an ADHD convention. Mon Lapin is a casual joint, and the staff goes out of their way to let you know they’re down to earth, but it seemed like they were trying to go Around that World in Eighty Days. Mon Lapin has an extensive and eclectic wine list and would fair better as a wine bar that serves good food. No, Mon Lapin is not Canada’s number one restaurant. Edulus in Toronto and Lawrence in Vancouver were infinitely better. Pricing is fair at Mon Lapin, a little over $200 Canadian for four dishes, one glass of wine and one cocktail.
Wonderful Evening of Theater & Food
Fabulous experience. We dined in this amazing restaurant last night and experienced some magical theater and incredible food. From the scallop sandwich, smart, rich and delicious to the beef tartar - - never have I had better with incredible flavours and textures, to the sea bass in a chamomile butter sauce, delicate, visually lovely and so tasty. The service throughout by the entire team was professional, timely and so spot on — one of the best experiences, both food and atmosphere of my life. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience magic to all senses!
Very good food
Very good food. The meal was like eating delicious art. Each dish was wonderful. The cocktails and wines went well with the food.
Wonderful restaurant
Regarded as one of the best restaurants in Canada for a reason. The food is delicious. The wines and cocktails are amazing. Wonderful restaurant.
Amazing gastronomic treat!
Worth the hype! Amazing food and service! Our server Kevin was attentive and pleasant and walked us through the menu and helped us pick a wine (gave us three options based on our tastes). Everything was phenomenal! Be sure to make a reservation and come here! You wont be disappointed!
Overpriced. Average food. Poor service. Hit and Missed. Nothing special
Meh. Overpriced. Average foods. Bad service. What can I say. I wanted it to be good. Came here with high expectation. Voted no.1 in Canada??? Hmm. Meh 7/10 Foods: average. Hit and missed It's just ok, some tasty but not a wow Beverage: good wine list Service: BAD, maybe just I had rude server Server will force his way to suggest you food without giving rooms to read the menu. Where's the host? You just have to stand there for abit and wait.... to be greet Long wait for the food With overall experience I had at this place,I don't have to come back to eat this 7/10 foods and 0 service. There are many other places with the same concept and quality. Overall experience, meh. Sorry but this is my opinion. Won't come back and not recommend. Note. Scallop sandwich, not good. I'll probably not going to follow the 100's list anymore. Disappointing
Creative meal with excellent wine pairings!
This restaurant was incredible and the highlight of our Montreal trip! We let the waiter select our food and wine, and we were amazed at the creativity of all the dishes. We had razor clams, parpardella, veal tongue, and squash with soprasetta. The wines were perfectly paired as well. Highly recommended - best meal we’ve had in a long time!
Cozy, friendly and delicious
It was my first visit to Mon Lapin since Covid, and since they had expanded into a bigger, beautiful space. It's so welcoming. I want to thank chefs Marco and Jessica and brilliant sommelier Vanya as well as the whole staff, including old friends from Liverpool House! I had a lovely Quebec rosê because it was an unseasonably warm day, lake trout with sunflower seeds, purée and petals - light and delicious! And for dessert, the fantastic Tarte Beauté Fkammande (which I've learned is a small pear green locally) - poached pear in a sweet tart shell with frangipane and caramel, in a pool of honey custard sauce! One of the best desserts ever! Thank you SO much! I hope to be back soon!
Couples Dinner on a recommendation by friends
Simply amazing. Creative, great vibe, high energy, staff that really know the food, good service. The neighbourhood is fairly quiet at night.
