Borchardt Berlin Reviews
Dinner on a Sunday
Firstly, the food was good. We had the salmon and the lamb. We sat outside in the courtyard. What bothered us a little were the very hectic waiters who were also a little clumsy.
A classic in Berlin
This place is a Berlin classic. The food is nice but not overwhelmingly so, the service good and the ambience what would be expected of such a historic place.
We enjoyed our evening at Borchardt very much.
Extremely busy place. We sat our in the covered patio. We had some white asparagus and then the schnitzel with cucumber salad. The order was HUGE and likely could have served two people. The service was very friendly and attentive.
Food was awful.
Like terribly awful. First time having wiener Schnitzel and probably last time I would eat it.
Worthwhile experience
If you want to have a flavour for central European cuisine, mainly a good schnitzel, in a busy and crowded but very traditional old berlinese atmosphere, that's the place to go. Maybe not every week but definitely worth going from time to time. Prices accordingly, though
Mediocre at best
The salad was good but the main course was terrible. Waiter didn’t recommend a very good wine and provided poor service. Expensive for what it was-
Good service but packed
Went here on Valentine's Day. Needless to say it is was extremely busy. A bit uncomfortably packed, seemed the waiters had little room to move. However the food was solid - steak was prepared well. Service was attentive.
The Borchardt restaurant was an amazing experience!
The Borchardt restaurant was an amazing experience! Excellent food, over the top service, knowledgeable staff. Every detail of of our evening, with our party of 10 was anticipated expertly and professionally delivered.. This was our first time to Berlin, and our first time to the Borchardt restaurant. Our entire group is looking forward to returning in the future. Tuna, Bouillabaisse, Poullard, Torbot, Weiner Schnitzel, Steak, Chanterelles, Creme brûlée, all exceptional! Our server was knowledgeable and recommended a couple of amazing white and red wines, and finished with a delicious German cinnamon liqueur that made our evening superb. Thank you for a wonderful family evening. Danke Sein!
The best Schnitzel in town
Food is great. The wine list is above average. The place is extremely crowded and the tiny tables are very close to each other. The personelle tries to be professional. In overall if you want to feel Berlins beat and have some high quality food this is a good choice. I you need privacy and a calm dinner just look for something else.
Worth a visit
Great location and tasty food. Service was fast and efficient. Bit noisy but it’s a popular restaurant. Portions were adequate.
Don’t understand the fuss, oversized and overpriced bland food
Well, the portions are way too big and I don’t understand why they offer these huge Schnitzels, when no one finishes it. I hate throwing away food and I don’t like that fact that the restaurant doesn’t seem to care it is more of a prestige thing. The schnitzel itself was bland (I ordered one to share) and the roasted potatoes were oily and boring The service was nice and the place was packed but the atmosphere was nothing particularly special Would not come back
Fabulous food and service
This place is fantastic. Book a table - just don’t arrive expecting to get a table. It’s big and one could criticise the noise level but there were 5 of us and we could mostly manage to hear each other. But - the main thing - the food and service! Fantastic! I had the tuna, not being a meat lover - and it was the best tuna I’ve eaten since Bistro Tatau in Samoa. The others all had the schnitzel- and loved it. Deserts were amazing - art works - but tasted better than art. Too often the composition takes over from the taste - this was not the case. All in all, a fabulous evening. My only criticism would be that those waiting for a table stood behind our table and I felt they encroached on our space. That was more about their lack of manners than the fault of the Restaurent.
The wiener schnitzel was fantastic and I'd definitely go
The wiener schnitzel was fantastic and I'd definitely go back again for it! Really cool interior and ambiance too.
Go where the locals go is always my motto, so when someone
Go where the locals go is always my motto, so when someone told us this is the place in Berlin for Schnitzel and more, we made a reservation and visited on a recent Friday night. There is an upfront, more formal dining room and then in the back center is kind of an enclosed outdoor area. We chose to sat up front with all the "see and be seen" people. Note that they do not allow picture taking of people so stay focused on your food!We started with some very well poured drinks. My go to dirty martini and the old fashioned were spot on which hasn't been the case in other places in town. We started with the pumpkin soup which was perfect for this chilly evening. For appetizers we went with tuna tartar (this was an odd take on it and had quinoa in it which gave it an odd texture) but the duck fois gras was amazing! They specialize in meats and wild game and on this night- some in our group had "saddle of deer" and another had the venison leg. We also had the schnitzel which was the winner in my book along with some of their au gratin potatoes. Desert was also very tasty with the winner being the creme brulee over the chocolate tart.Service was good and by the time we left at 8:30 or 9- this place was hopping! Price for 4 of us including drinks, appetizers, soup, entree and dessert was E359 which was pretty good given the quality of the food and drink. So if you are looking for a place with good food, good service and where you might spy a celebrity- check out Borchardt.
